Friend you really need to get some pusher sticks or better yet pusher pads for your table saw. It is so easy to lose a finger or mess up a hand in the blink of an eye. Google table saw accidents. Or at least the people wanting to copy your design ought too.
@caseytbss

entityofme the way a lot of blade guards are and the knife deal..... it can end up being more dangerous. I took mine off after shit got caught. I made zero clearance inserts. That is one of the biggest things a person can do to improve safety. Push blocks and push sticks ( two ). Are critical also. If a person wants a cheap diy that you can toss when it’s time, you can take some 4”x 10” or so mdf then spray glue the drawer liner stuff that grips real good, then trim off extra. That way you can hold down flimsy stuff like 1/4? Or abs etc and set the blade so it’s just cutting through material and hitting the drawer liner if you need to hold it down nice & tight as it goes over blade
@caseytbss
@caseytbss 4 года назад
Lynn Poole most important thing is to be wide awake & aware! No distractions no hearing protection so you know your environment better, safety glasses..... super tight fitting gloves that have better grip than your skin on your fingers if that helps you have improved grip. (Some will try to argue this but they don’t get it....I’m not talking “leather work gloves” that are all loose & shit. Either those gloves that are dipped on the face of hand if they fit ultra tight or I have disposable gloves that have excellent grip. There is no way the table saw is catching these and sucking you in.....one more time for the people in the back... I said TIGHT! If you can’t pick a booger out your nose wearing them, they are not tight enough!
@caseytbss
@caseytbss 4 года назад
entityofme you are using you blocks or sticks. Also proper technique when pushing sheets through. You don’t push straight into the blade, you push at the fence and forward. I use tablesaw almost daily. Ridgid r4511 granite top saw. Have not had an issue or kickback in a decade.

@@caseytbss if I were you, I'd shut up right about now. What you're saying is dangerous af, and you should never give out that advice anymore! Only old ass idiots would ever say to not wear hearing protection! Also shut up about not using a riving knife or splitter. It works wonders and if you manage to have that catch, then you're some kind of special that shouldn't be using a table saw. Eye, mouth and hearing protection is a must use, not a suggestion. A riving knife or splitter is also aust have, unless you're doing specialty cuts. Let me guess, you also think it's fine to use the fence and miter gauge at the same time?

Sounds like a direct recording, no acoustics etc. If it's not a direct recording, what are the treble speakers and are they close to the mic? The closer the mic, the more accuracy in how the speakers sound (and less acoustic influence).

I built a very similar sub with the same passive radiators and the non neo version of the tang band 5 1/4" Obviously I am not the only one to pair these components. It really does sound great... I use it every day under my feet in the design lab. Super full bass from a very small enclosure. Just FYI the non neo version is a much better sounding sub I have done several builds with each and side by side the neo version sounds weak.

I use Johnson's paste wax on my cast iron, but that stuff reeks for anything you're gonna bring into the house. Pick up some Walrus Wood Wax or something similar and you won't regret it. Heck, I make my own from carnuba wax, beeswax, and orange oil. It smells great and is completely non-toxic.

I'm learning this stuff from Y.T. What is the advantage of the passive radiators Vs a sealed enclosure?
@Toid
@Toid Год назад
Passive radiators act similar to ported enclosures. That means they have the ability to play lower and louder. The vantage of them over a port is you don’t have to worry about port noise and the box is smaller. The disadvantages over a ported system is they don’t tune as low and have a steeper drop off.

Umm cross cutting on a table saw? Do you like the way your fingers are right now or are you interested in maybe removing some of them? It's called a cross cut sleed. Don't use the fence when cross cutting. Your piece of wood could bind-up against the fence and twist bringing your fingers with it. You might also try some push sticks.

@Toid
@Toid Год назад
That is a common misconception. Passive radiators should have twice the volume displacement. The volume displacement is SD x Xmax. You can use about any size as long as you have at least twice the volume displacement as the original driver. Most people simplify this as saying you need two passive radiators the same size as the active drivers, but that just isn't true. If you have a passive radiator with the same SD and same size as the active with twice the xmax, you would be fine. You can check out this video on passive radiators as well, if you want to learn more about them: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ISCdx73hRxo.html

I'm going to try this out but was thinking of saving $30 by using the SMF and making the box 9" instead of 8". Will this create a big difference in the tuning? Other possibility is mounting the radiators on the outside but they don't look as nice that way.
