It's easier to angle the sledgehammer. You're trying to pack it into the sidewalls of the tires. The tamper is good for tamping vertically. The sledgehammer allows you to pack it into the sidewalls.
Hi , i want to ask a few questions . I want to build such house too, and I am collecting information... What size your house will be inside in square meters? what temperatures are there in winter in you area, average/minimum below zero (in Celsius)? are you going to insulate your walls from outside or you think that tire wall is enough to keep warm?
Not sure on meters, but it'll be around 420 square feet. The average winter Temps are around 20f during the day and single digits at night. Sometimes it drops down to -10f, but only a couple times a winter. I just posted a video on the insulation being installed if you want to check it out.
@@nialldivers yep , thanks , I saw it . Have you thought about to build that surrounding tire wall not with tires but with concrete breaks and isulate it same way as you do with tires ? I think about that , tyres maybe cheap , but it takes a lot labor and even more time. I am in a kind of undetermined situation right now , building a house like this is a long story, it will chain me to location i am in now, at least for few years before I could be able to sell it if I need to, climate here is rough, nature is poor , and terrible economic crisis coupled with war activity and ethical conflict is about to come here, so I wonder what should I do... to begin building while prices at construction materials are still barely but affordable , who knows what will be tomorrow with prices , or to try to travel far away from here but I have no clue yet where to go.... Its a rhetorical question, its what I ask to myself last few years.
@@nialldivers I transfered feets to meters its about 40 s m , analog to our average studio apartment in my area , but its a lot colder in here from time to time , in Fahrenheit about -35 sometimes , rarely, but happens
