Great explanation! I think that the "voicing" exercise you talk about is really important! Sometimes when I can't quite get an altissimo note, I just sing it, and then immediately put the horn to my mouth and play it, which usually works for me! I'm a little surprised you didn't mention working on the overtone series, though. My previous teachers have taught me that working on overtones is central to the development of throat muscles that help you "voice"" things a little better! Perhaps the topic of a future video, haha. Great explanation, nevertheless!
+insaneintherainmusic its amazing how easy it gets when you can voice. Sometimes I dno't event finger the note I want but because I voice it correctly, it comes out! I had so many points I wanted to cover thatI overlooked working on overtones, so I'll include that in a future video for sure. Thanks buddy! :)
+insaneintherainmusic dh totally. Alto and Tenor fingerlings are different. I think G will be fine. And for "A" on tenor doing 2,3 on the left hand, and 1,2,3 on the right hand, plus the octave key will pop that A no problem on tenor. :)
Music By Pedro Hey, how would you put subtitles in Portuguese-BR in their videos "how to"? I follow his work a long time but do not understand much, why do not speak English.
Hey Pedro, you are the only online guy who was able to help me get some of those top notes straight away! They are not the best but I'm able to get them most of the time. Thank you so much.
there is a song my friend and I want to play and it has a 2 altissimo notes in it and we asked our band director how to play it and he said don't bother we wont be able to so I'm gonna try it and prove him wrong so thanks for the video!!
Wow, amazing video. I went from sometimes getting a G above the G above the staff to play before watching to getting all the way to C above the C above the staff after watching! Thanks man!
I have tried altissimo for a while but I feel like it is something not meant to be...at least not, for a while. In the meanwhile, I have been working on overtones, but even there is a struggle. I can do fundamental (haha, of course), first overtone, and then 2nd overtone...but things get really weird between 2nd overtone and 3rd overtone. I can usually go from 1st overtone straight to 3rd overtone, or 1st overtone to 2nd overtone, but not from 2nd to 3rd. (and I haven't been able to do anything above 3rd overtone.) then again, I do have relatively soft (2.5) reeds, so I'll think about moving up to 3.
Hey, teria como você colocar legendas em português-BR nos seus videos de "como fazer"? Eu acompanho seu trabalho a muito tempo mas não entendo muito, porquê não falo inglês.
Hi Pedro. Really appreciate your video Sir. I have a system 76 tenor dark lacquer just like you. Is it possible to give me the altissimo fingerings you use for your tenor?

Hey Pedro, I'm in 11th grade and currently looking to switch from bass clarinet to tenor sax, I've been playing a school loaned alto to get the new fingering down (I'm pretty confident now after a couple months) and am now in the market for a tenor sax. It is VERY intimidating looking through countless brands of tenors. Any recommendation on a good student tenor sax? One that would stick up to the hell that is marching band and have decent sound, that'd be awesome. I love your videos, and you have single handily made me want to play the sax. I hope to hear more amazing covers in the future. Thanks!
+De Synthed Hi. Thanks for your message. As far as a good brand that can hold to the rigorous activity of marching band (which I was in when I was in school), I'd have to say Yamaha, Keilwerth, Cannonball, Jupiter, P. Mauriat, and Selmer (which make Jupiter among others). Thanks for the nice words, and best of luck! :)
Nice video sir... I love it! But do you have a website where I can get a chart in doc or PDF format so I can practice more cause I find it difficult a little to understand the video. Thanks sir
Remember to be realistic - you will need to put in some work whichever method you choose for learning to play saxophone I have spent months researching into how to play sax and discovered a great website at Takiras Music Method (google it if you are interested)
Hey! Love the sound! I play the tenor sax and I am hoping to get a new mouthpiece, what kind would you recommend? Thanks anyway. Keep creating amazing content :)
+John Rubio If you haven't purchased any jazz mouthpiece then i'd recommend the 5m for starting. It is a different feel than the traditional stock mouthpiece. I think the Meyer 6m or 7m would be good afterwards. The bigger number indicates a larger chamber and larger tip opening. Start with the 5m and then decide after a year or so of playing it.
+Music By Pedro sorry to bother you with thus but uhm as ive told you im a sax player but ive been having problems... i need a new sax.. i have a black Glory sax i ordered off if Amazon (bad idea btw) i need advice for like brands and stuff... but im very poor... music is my passion but without a sax i cant enjoy my band class nor can i enjoy your videos as much. Of course i'd still watch I'd just wish i could play along you know? i really need help...
+Djay the horn player no need to get upset. It's not going to happen in one day. I remember it took me days of practicing before I was able to get the notes. Don't give up! :)
Thanks, yea I kind of realized it takes a while haha. It's just like I'm too impatient at first and I think if it doesn't happen now it will never happen
