Since the release of some B&G knockoffs on a major website site i stop pursuing to make something that equals or comes close.. since there is no need. done and dusted. lets go back to why i even started a neodymium tweeter. and simplify the thing i wanted to make years ago.
The mini monitor loudspeaker/ planar tweeter
This part i made a second pair of push pull tweeters, and play a tune in the old baffle setup. (i will most likely change that baffle) its a Disney themed session. hate it or love it. i measured them on recording spot. Left right and both together. (most interesting to see is the huge peak at 50 Hz , even after padding it 5 dB, and the resulting null at 100hz) (there are more room nodes at 70, 90, etc.) i should have lowered the tweeters even a tad more i think. but hell...
Tweeters crossed at 1200hz 12dB per octave.

Hi Joppe, I like your projects. Your last videos are about the mini monitor revival. Great sounding speakers. That is why I started to find more about the "old" mini monitor. UWhere can I find a building plan for it. Thanks Thorsten

I'm afraid I never made one. Since i kept changing things or was not sure etc. So I do hope ill be happy soon and I'll might post some drawing. But not there yet im afraid

I like that you avoid playing copyright music in your videos because of demonetisation but you go ahead and play music owned by one of the most money-hungry corporations in the world when you actually do.

yeah but they dont get banned :) i recorded one from nena (99 luft balons) instantly banned world wide ...... its ridiculous !

Midrange sounds huge from that tweeter, did you cross the drivers at 1200Hz, or did you just filter the tweeter?

Oh i lied the filter is at 1300hz 12 db per octave, reason is it will create a small bump. then again the woofers have a sligthly rising response so. it fills in some more. ill try to make a measurement of both drivers seperate with crossover next time so you can see what does what. since electrical crossover does not mean the acoustical is at the same frequency.

@@joppepeelen I think 1300Hz is a bit low for that moving mass, but i know you like to experiment. Play this video, very famous for making holes in ribbon tweeters, and you'll see why, don't play it to loud, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cm4-T-YlLPU.html

@@MrChikaKure i will play it loud :) the only benefit in having this thick foil i use is that it should handle power rather well. maybe not 90+dB efficient but it should handle more power then others. i will do a destructive test. could be fun to :) blow one up :) its only the foil that burns :) i got a few of those so, lets do that next video. although im not to sure yet how. with either pogram material witch could take ages. or pure sinewave :)

@@joppepeelen Hehe, Just play the music loud, with a lot of Ride cymbals, bell, high pitch guitars, the amplifier has to start clipping at some point, and without fuses the planar tweeter has to die, it will be interesting to see that, luckily you have spare diaphragms, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vpUUhgudFYE.html

R. Vijgen exactly. I think. There’s a cheese sold all over the UK called Edam which is meant to be from the Netherlands. A bit like Danish pastries I expect, which are very very undanish...

@@word2RG i just downloaded the ones from the Neo 8... look decent. but the thing is.. no distortion measurements. its weird these and most other drivers are sold with SPL and FR as selling point. , most often i think because they are sure most people never reach the point on where there drivers sounds like shit. (and burn them, although allot of people manage.. crappy filter design i guess) there is not transparency , and the higher you go in budget the less you get even. HIGH end speakers dont even have a FR plot... let alone distortion. the only high end driver brand i know that does is mundorf AMT's they perform really well to (might be the reason why they do post distortion,, if it is a selling point why not !). but then again 300$. so yeah
