Uses different technology to the others, the Kodak uses what is called Dye-sublimation thermal transfer, so it prints one colour at the time and then the last time it will add a waterproof coating. i am thinking of getting the Canon Selphy that uses the same technology. I have not really looked into the zinc printing technology, which the other printer uses. Dye-sublimation thermal transfer is used in large printing presses these days as well.

just notes for personal reference! 1. Kodak - $99.99 (cheapest) - cartridge $10 for 20 sheets not sure if water-resistant or not - great printing quality 2. LG pocket photo 3 popo - $109.49 - zink paper $10 for 20 sheets $17.50 for 30 sheets water-resistant comes in plain or sticker back - good printing quality (slightly better than polaroid zip) 3. hp sprocket - $129.99 - zink paper (same as above) - second smallest - best printing quality ! 4. polaroid zip mobile printer - $119 - zink paper - smallest - good printing quality 5. fujifilm instax - $169.95 (most expensive) - instax film paper $20 for 20 sheets - biggest/bulkiest - does not charge, uses batteries - looks like classic old polaroids

First is quality, next is cost of the refills and availability. I'm from the Philippines and KODAK is what I found to be the best portable photo printer for my personal use. Refills are a lot cheaper than FUJI brand!

Thanks so much for making this video, now I just have to decide between the Kodak and HP. The Kodak photo quality seem to be better but the price per print is bw 75-85 cents for each vs 50 cents with the HP.

I got my Kodak in gold for Christmas last year and I highly recommend it! You can add things to your picture through the app and add borders and other cool things and you can get sticky paper to stick it to things and it's very shiny and smooth and hd I love it

This was a great review, but I'm having trouble getting my sprocket to print in the quality as shown here. Mine are much darker than the original photo, and when you adjust the brightness, it prints off shadows in a flat/almost fax like quality. I've figured out how to adjust saturation and hue, but these images here are way better than what I'm getting. Thanks in advance. Just got mine as a gift and am using Samsung S8 to print from.

Nicole, try printing the fuji instax, but after it prints, place the picture upside down. While its white, ,its still absorbing light. There is a possibility that the picture was too white because of it. If you do post a video comparing delveloping the picture a picture right side up and up side down. Please tag me. Would be interesting to see the difference.

Wouldn't more light exposure lead to darker pictures rather than lighter? Just thinking back to my years using a dark room when you had to be really carefull not to give the paper too much light...

I've got the HP Sprocket (following many good review) and it's pretty good except that the saturation and the contrast in the phot has to be higher than what you see to come out "normal" in the print otherwise is too light and colorless.

I really need one of these for my journaling works. It should be small, portable, chargeable, with best quality of photos and sticky sheets are must and fast too. I do need to get one of them soon so thankyou so much for this video but I want people to tell me more about which one to go with according to my needs. According to me, I will definitely love to go with the HP Sprocket because I find that one's the best and fulfills all my need of sticky papers too and best for journaling. But I want you people to tell me too.

I bought the fujifilm printer but the main problem about it is that the color of the picture is very faded which is hard if I want to print an already faded picture. Definitely go with other printers to get your money worth!

HATE the new update on the Polaroid! I can not for the life of me get my pictures to print different shapes like the old app did. Example, square instagram photos get all zoomed in and messed up! It’s caused my so much frustration that I have zero desire to use it. Your video was SO HELPFUL and great to know that i wasn’t alone with the frustration of the new app. Thanks so much for sharing. I immediately ordered the HP printer and so look forward to finish my baby’s journal with it now :)

i had a kodak instant camera in the 70s and the bulkiness at the back of the photo in the fuji is actually the negative so you can go and have another picture taken from that!

I have the Canon Ivy Mini Printer in the colors white and mint. I got mine at Best Buy. I bought the printer to be able to print photos from my phone to put in a journal as a memory/motivational journal during my workout journey. The journal I got is a Polaroid journal from Barnes and Nobles it was like $13 or something like that and I can’t find that journal online anywhere. When I got my journal in store they only had blue or black color. So I got blue. I also got an extra package of printer paper. I would like to be able to find a case for my printer but I haven’t found one yet for my type of printer.

Very good review. I was considering a little instant print camera for my 12 year old granddaughter. Her mom is a professional photographer. But maybe one of those mini printers may be a better option instead. This way she can pre view her pictures & add special effects if she prefers on her iPhone first. Thanks again for sharing!📸

Fabulous.. that was SO helpful. I've own the Polaroid Zip and stopped using it because of the poor quality results. You review caused me to try the Zip printer with its new App and firmware upgrade. I don't get why so many people say Polaroid when they mean Fuji Instax. If you try to buy Polaroid film for your Instax camera or printer you're going to get the wrong film. Polaroid isn't a generic name for instant film.

Yeah but Polaroid and instax instant films are compatible. You can use either film in either brands’ product. Only the Zink paper doesn’t work for non zip printers.

I have a polaroid zip I'm pretty happy with. I print the pics and put them in my journal to accompany my entries which work really well so the sticker paper is really cool for me. It's really neat to see such a comprehensive comparison though and I'll consider the others if I ever need to replace mine.

Love the HP Sprocket printer.. so glad I got it. Look at all the pictures and the HP Sprocket has the best picture.. it is more detailed. I have a Cannon 70D pro camera... don't expect the pictures to look as good as the ones that you get from a pro camera.. but you will love it and have fun with it because, the quality is very good. If picture quality is poor as a couple of them say. They might have a lemon.

Thanks for making this video. I was right about to buy the Polaroid Zip but this made me change my mind and I'm going to go with the Hp Sprocket. I also saw a lot of recent reviews on amazon saying the new Polaroid app doesn't work properly and the pictures are coming out dark. I'm not expecting perfection, as long as the photos come out decent.

the sprocket allows u to add frames, words in different colors and fonts, stickers, and u can pick up photos from camera, socials etc, it recharges in 1 hour. sprocket forever!

How many prints to do you get from the HP before the battery dies? How many prints from the Kodak before the battery dies?

The HP can print approximately 30 photos per charge.

Thank you for making this review! Really good and very helpful. I just purchased the HP Sprocket on Amazon. I already have the Polaroid Zip and you're right, the pictures come out like over-exposed and also quite dark.

Talia's Nail Tales I previously had the Polaroid printer but after a few months it stopped connecting to my phone and I just couldn't get it to work so I just recently traded it in under a warranty I bought for it and have the hp and besides the lines on some of my photos it's working way better than the Polaroid. I feel like if maybe they just updated their system they'd be top of the game.

The big question is, would you pick the HP Sprocket or the Kodak? I heard the Kodak's DPI is the best out of all these, but does that make the paper more expensive?

I don't think it's more expensive in the long run if you buy the papers and such on Amazon. The quality of the Kodak is so beautiful, but the HP Sprocket is just as great, it's just a different photo processor. I love the sticky paper of the HP Sprocket!

Julie Kent you need to purchase an ink cartridge for kodak to print. It makes it more expensive and much better quality. She said that the cartridge can print up to 30 pictures and you need to replace it. But in hp you don't need any cartridges.

Erica Barriatos but doesn't the hp use paper that you need to replace isn't that the same as the Kodak cartridge , you don't have to buy ink cartridges differently the one package contains paper and ink

and the Kodak has sticky paper and it's also waterproof

Lg does have some colour difference but if you edit the contrast and all of that, the image quality is amazing! If you don't want to spend too much on a pocket printer, go with lg!

In my country stores(which are similar to Walmart) have Photo Printing stations. It only costs like 20 cents for a 4 × 8 picture.I always use them and cut them in half and then they´re the same size as the ones of the Video. It is sooo much cheaper than buying a small printer. For a dollar you can get 10 pictures and the film of the ones from the Video is so expensive. If you want 30 pictures itˋd cost like 15 dollars.

Great review, thank you! I have the LG (before that I had the first edition Polaroid Pogo, with the enormous charger!) and I've been lusting over a Sprocket for no particular reason other than the fact that it is pretty! Seeing this review means I can rest easy that the HP isn't vastly better.

Brilliant comparison video, thank you. So, a year later; are you still loving the sprocket as much? I personally use photo paper from the poundshop (UK version of the dollar store) and my main printer (HP printer which cost me £30!). I use a free app to add the polaroid border and I can print pics in any size that way. I'm going to buy a xyron sticker machine to turn them into stickers too!

The HP sprocket has terrible print quality for me.. Idk if it's because I have an android and maybe it works better for iOS users, but I'm pretty disappointed.

This is by far the best comparison video I have seen for mini printers. I really appreciated seeing the same photo printed on each of the printers. I think I like the Kodak printer the best. Do you know approximately how many pictures can be printed on one charge (for the Kodak)? And can you print while it's charging?

The LG has the most details, look at the green and the detail on the plant next to you and your face shows more details as well, the HP is good too. Great video, thank you for the hard work.

Question about the HP Sprocket: If you rotated your photo would you be able to print the entire picture instead of a small part? Basically the photo would be horizontal with everything on your picture instead of vertical with left over space (in 12:06).

THIS VIDEO HELPED ME ALOT!!! i didn't know which one to get! my friends and i go to raves a lot and wanted to start our own scrap book, someone we meet had the pollard camera and it was fun to use but to big to carry so we wanted to get a little printer one but didn't know which one to get until we saw this video! thanks so much!! we going with the HP and the instant 2nd edition for the old fashion look.
