Here is the seed haul from the Seedy Sunday I attended. Some are from the seed swap and some from seed companies that were there. It's a great place to find those locally adapted seeds!! I needed to start some as well, of course I got more tomato seeds :)

I grow fava beans.. love love love them! So do the deer & the raccoons.. but I hide them amongst other beds so they stay safe. They also need extra support or they flop over when they get tall. The comfrey, well, I think it's harder to get rid of than anything else.. so hopefully your neighbours won't mind if seeds drift their way - but it's sure a useful plant! Happy growing!

Thanks for the growing tips! I will be sure to give them support. I could see why they get heavy, that one pack of seeds weighs a ton. Happy growing to you too :)

Red Robin are fantastic tomatoes. I put them in my hanging baskets. I also bought the Ruby treasure at the swap. I am excited to try them too.

Exciting :) I couldn't decide between the three kinds they had, lol. I will try the Red Robin in some baskets, I love the look of them spilling over!

I bought some seeds from 4 Acre Farm at the Seedy Saturday in my city - evening primrose, blue vervain, comfrey, and stinging nettle. I thought of milk thistle but didn't get it this time. Talking to the lady she said to just watch when it flowers, and cut it. Someone told me comfrey doesn't spread as aggressively as mint. I love Prairie Garden Seeds, such great people ❤. I didn't know about long keeper tomato will add these to my list for next year.

That's a great mix! Thanks for the tip on the comfrey. It was really busy so I didn't get a chance to talk to the vendors too long. This was my first time buying for Prairie Garden seeds, the lady that helped me was so knowledgable! I will be sure to update on how the long keepers do :)

@@FiveCanadianAcres Just passing along what I heard for the comfrey but better to talk to a few others who have grown comfrey, I'm hopeful I can stay on top of it since I live in the city. Maybe I will start by growing it in a cut up rain barrel😆. It seems you have the space to let it spread though! I am looking forward to seeing your garden tour videos this summer! 😁

Saint John's Wort is a "noxious" weed in Alberta. FYI. Don't let that stop you, I certainly don't, but I don't make youtube videos about growing it either. 😉

Oh no, I did not know it was a noxious weed too. I wanted to grow Mullein and found the same thing out about that :( I am not sure if my seedlings would even germinate as I didn't cold stratify them. Look like my best bet is to find a place to wild forage them!! I will have to see if I can find any growing wild on my 5 acres :) Thank you for pointing that out, I definitely don't want to be growing illegal things on RU-vid, lol.

I would assume that there's no plant that is invasive everywhere.
@FiveCanadianAcres

I think so too :) I understand native species and how non-native things can take over but there are so many nuances to this and we humans have changed over time as well. Also thinking about how so many beneficial plants are considered invasive or weeds it makes you wonder! I feel we should just try our best to take care of the earth and she will do the rest :)

Long keeper tomato kept well but I didn’t like the taste.

I have heard that, or the texture isn't the same. I guess if anything I can make some fresh sauce with them :)
