Not a tutorial on the synth, but it shows how I made a song using patches mostly from Arturia's cookbook. Go to www.arturia.com to find out more.
My video on Synth basics: • Essential synthesizer ...

Man this is awesome. I haven't seen any videos with Maschine being put to use with the MiniBrute 2S. I own the 2S as well as the NI's Mikro (mk2) and Jam, but haven't tried this. What I've been doing is usually put the 2S as one instrument, like bass or lead, then sequence it to play with other systems, rather than sample it out and use it all the way it's being used here. I need to try this.

Thanks! Yeah it really makes working with hardware synths a lot more practical... plus you can save your patches in maschine and build up your own library of custom sounds.

It would be great to see a follow up video that approached the integration by recording sequences from the 2s (vs sampling sounds). I managed to work through most of the kinks, but some of them were not obvious. Would also throw out Oscillator Sink as another channel that has wonderful videos for getting a lot out of this synth.

Hi! Great video! Could you tell me if you can use the Keystèp or other keyboard to insert notes (step rec or realtime rec) into 2S sequencer? Thanks a lot!

Hello, really enjoyed this!! Im really looking forward to buy this synth, but im having a hard time knowing if I will need any extra equipment to make it work. I don't have experience on audio... I have only a JBL Boombox speaker, with has an aux in minijack 3,5mm. I don't know if I can connect the minibrute directly to the speaker, or I need an adapter to transform the cable of the out of the minibrute to the 3,50mm. Also don't know if I need a mixer or something. As you see I'm really lost here and don't want to make an impulsive decision and then realize I need to spend more to make it sound. I will really appreciate your wisdom on this complex thing for a beginner, who want to start making alien noises and be happy.

Hi Jeff. I've got a Roland Juno Stage which has a good sound bank, but little options to tweak each of those sounds. I'm looking for ways to be able to tweak the sounds of my Juno Stage much more, preferable with physical knobs. Is that possible with an external machine such as the Minibrute 2S, that you know of? Or any other way? Thanks

Enjoyed the video as always Jef but RU-vid's constant abrupt interruptions with adverts for the same products is getting worse. I suppose they want to make life difficult so that one pays for the ad free service :-( Not your fault I know!
@jefgibbons
@jefgibbons 4 года назад
I can turn off the mid vid ads, I haven’t figured out if they help me much at all... but it’s the main way we make a small amount of money for these vids. Thanks for watching Paul!
@willjosef8087

@@jefgibbons It would be nice if you found out if it will affect your income too much. It is the mid vid ads that are the most annoying when watching videos on RU-vid. Just to be clear: I do understand you need an income (and you deserve that), but if those mid ads don't mean a lot less income it would be nice of you drop them on the short videos of yours. And now to the important stuff: Amazing track in this video... really enjoyed it! You have a lot of talent as a composer and a good ear for sound design! Does it take a long time to program a patch using the cook book?

Hi Jef, thank you for putting these videos together. I honestly don't know how you are able to master all of these tools so quickly but am so grateful that you do because I would never have the time (or skill, or knowledge, etc) to do it without a lot of help! Quick question - I've been using your 'real synth' videos to understand how to use Massive X. I'm new to synths and they are mindbogglingly complicated. Generally speaking, anything you do on, as an example, an Arturia unit, you can emulate with Massive X, right? So, if I want to learn, I can do it with just one tool? I just want to learn ONE to get started, and then maybe branch out for different reasons.
@jefgibbons
@jefgibbons 4 года назад
Absolutely! Massive X is one of my fave synths right now, it’s so easy to get gearlust for the next best thing, and my videos jump from one to the next, but I need to encourage people to master what they have first! Maybe a massive x basics video is in order, it’s super complex, but the basics are all there. I like it more than the reception it hit when it first came out. Fire away if you have any questions!
@philipmarsh3522
@philipmarsh3522 4 года назад
Jef Gibbons Earlier you made a video on synthesizer basics using actual hardware - what would be amazing is if you replicated that by using Massive X with maybe some other bells and whistles thrown in. (Selfishly I’ve chosen Massive X because that’s the one I’m using to learn lol!).

Hi Jef, great video again. I have a question about your 4k Samsung TV setup, still fine with it? I did exactly the same with a 55 Q80R and the same resolution as you explained earlier, but I notice I’m getting headache from it after a while so now and then. What is your distance from eyes to the screen? Thanks for your time.
@johnd7564
@johnd7564 4 года назад
You should probably check with your eye doc. Measure how far it is from your eyeballs to the screen how you actually work at your computer, then have the optometrist check if your vision is good with the glasses you use (or with none, as applicable). Once I got computer glasses optimized for how I use the computer, my eyes got a LOT happier. NOTE I am not an optometrist and don't have any stock in eyeglasses companies.

Right now the synth is a nice “payment” and then I get to keep the vid on my channel. Anyone that wanted to pay actual money wants it on their own channel, which doesn’t help me as much in the long run! Thanks for the comments!

Jef Gibbons I have been scouring around looking at various options to which there are many. I also experimented yesterday with utilizing MassiveX in a constrained manner. Which also works. I really would like to get a Formanta Polivoks with the midi add on. Thanks for the response! Keep making the awesome videos! I have frequented them many times learning Maschine!
