I finally bought some new desktop speakers: The Kanto YU2 in walnut. These small powered desk setup speakers could be the best speakers to buy right now. USB plug-and-play, internal DAC, sub out and a really small footprint.

"Nice speakers 🎵". Walnut looks elegant comparing to any other color, that wood touch is unique. That's why many tech stores use that style to show their products.

“Nice speakers” really like the walnut and black especially on the stands, I actually looked at these before on recommendation but definitely think a sub is needed.

Very nice, I recently wanted the same..small, but good quality. I opted for KLH Ames in matt black....and I hooked it up to my old Logitech sub from my previous 5.1...runs the KLH fine.

Nice Speakers, planning to get the bigger version and a sub when i order a Mac Studio M1Max and 4K Asus Proart 32" HDR monitor. It'll be one kick ass setup for video editing and listening to music

Great looking speakers! A good noticeable difference from the monitor speakers to the Kanto's, which is fine for sitting at a desk and background noise. Doesn't need to be much more!

if you were on a really tight budget you get the M-audio Av32 or the PreSonus Eris E3.5 Not as good looking but way better sounding for only $100, personally I would not invest $300 on a non reference speakers and other than the design I don't think they are worth it. the price of theses Kanto YU2 can easily get you a 5" or even 6" individually powered speaker monitors.

They look nice enough but there are some essential (for me) things which you haven't mentioned in your review...do they have to be manually powered-on each time or will they power/sleep according to the status of the Mac ? can the volume be adjusted from the keyboard, or do you have to use the rotary dial on the rear of the YU2 ?

why is the usb b so far out ?.... it should not be I feel that it can be bent if it is passed to carry ... that reason will have the sub-a and usb-c and others are always at the top

NICE SPEAKERS I am looking at speaker/ soundbars and it's a hard choice, I think I was spoilt as i was running a Samsung S61A under the Neo G7 so not sure I'd like speakers behind the screen/ lack of base. Side note if you do want to look at a new monitor, you can't underestimate the difference a curved screen makes on your eye strain and general work health!

Oooff I've just been looking at the YU4's since you posted these on instagram. these look and sound great! The volume placement on the back is a bit of a bummer in my opinion (hence looking at YU4's) but hey. 'Nice speakers' man ;). Buy a pro display XDR!

Ah thanks mate. Yes the volume is a weird one, but once I turn it on I just use the Mac controls to turn it up and down etc.

Those speakers are beautiful, they also have some other wood grain speakers I see alot in other setups called Edifier R1280T which are more on the budget side of things but doubt the sound quality would be great given the price. Nice Speakers!

What headset do you use now? If you were going to buy the Pulse headset, I'd try and go for the Astro A20s (or even better, the SteelSeries 7P).

Were there also other speakers you were considering, like the audioengine A2+ wireless? And why did you opt for this one, other than the walnut finish (which looks stunning btw)? I'm asking because these are not available where I'm from

It was close between the two. The A2+ apparently have more bass so don’t need a sub. From what I’ve seen there’s not much in it.

I am always conflicted between getting speakers and having a monitor built in with them. Less cables much more minimalism for me but yeah sound quality.

I have a question... what if you try to connect the speakers in the USB plug of your monitor? The sound of the monitor could output from the speakers?

Will these speakers work with a PS5? My son uses PS headphones atm but wants to add speakers to his setup. The monitor (lenevo) does have audio out, but are you better connecting via usb?!
