@@dani5612 Hi! First happy New Year! I know I am a bit late but this may help. You know it when sometimes in winter or just colder days your skin tends to dry out but not completely desert dry. And in summer when the weather is hot you get just the tiniest bit oily in your T-zone but the rest is pretty much normal with a slightly dry feeling. The best products to use is the ones that are labelled for normal to dry skin. Hope I helped 😊. And go have a look on Hyram here on youtube,he can really help any skin type. @@mrsquarterblack I recently realized that I actually have combination skin: Oily forehead/nose but normal cheeks/chin. Finding a moisturizer that feels hydrating and doesn’t make the greasy half of my face look even shinier (and not the good kind). A part of my problem is that I like the “clean dewy” look but again, oily skin ruins it.😭

Normal skin that leans toward oily and acne prone. Great video. I've been on tretinoin for 2 and a half months now so I'm trying to be as simple as possible. My routine is just rinse face in am then sunscreen and pm is oil cleanser then vanicream face cleanser, isntree hyaluronic acid toner, cerave moisturizing lotion and finally 0.04% tretinoin from curology.

I have extremely normal skin and I’m so grateful for you covering and mentioning the normal skin type! Me, my sister, and my mom all have the 3 different Cerave cleansers (hydrating, foaming, SA) and we kind of rotate using them since none of us really need just one in particular. Also I’m debating purchasing the CeraVe lotion, the CeraVe PM lotion, or VaniCream’s lotion since the CeraVe cream irritates the skin around my nose

My skin type is VERY dry but very acne prone! It’s super hard to treat without using moisturizing products that don’t break me out. I’ve been using tretinoin 0.025% since March and it’s helped a lot! I also haven’t had any increase in dryness while on tret which is a godsend.

Wow that is amazing you have had more dryness using tretinoin!! I have dry skin with acne and am delaying starting my retinol out of fears of more dryness. Maybe I should just start and it won't be that bad ! ☺️

@@oceanbird. try it! I had to stop using tretinoin in November of 2020 unfortunately because I started getting perioral dermatitis and my acne came back worse than every before no matter what I did (or didn’t do). I’m hoping to try it out again at a later date. Once I stopped Tretinoin, my skin cleared up almost immediately with just using a salicylic acid 2% exfoliating toner. Thinking I may try out the Retin-A Micro version so it’s more gentle on my skin…think that was my main problem, it was too harsh at 0.025% retin-a.
@oceanbird.
@oceanbird. 2 года назад
@@lilacfaerie1619 wow thanks for the update!! My derm is having me start at a very low dose of OTC retinol, the lowest one which I think is 0.25%. it's the one from skin medica and is supposed to be a bit more gentle. I think I'll give it a try thanks to your story! I feel encouraged :) also good luck on trying micro! Also have you heard of altreno? I haven't tried any tret but I was researching gentle tret options before my derm suggested the skin medica retinol, and altreno came up. Maybe it would be another option to look at along with micro?

I have to say that the Cerave daily moisturizing lotion is amazing. I was previously using Cetaphil oil-free hydrating lotion with hyaluronic acid, which is similar, except for the ceramides. The Cetaphil is good under makeup but is very watery and lightweight and just didn't do much. The Cerave however, transformed my skin. I woke up to my skin looking significantly different than the day before. It looks lightweight and like it's not going to do much but it does!! I own the cream version too, but I'd say the lotion does more for me. That's my new moisturizer and I'm not Changing it. Using it on my wet skin right after washing is a game changer.

I really wish they had chosen a different filter for the DRMTLGY tinted sunscreen or just keep it mineral only. Octinoxate breaks me out and it is in fact a very irritating chemical filter along with oxybenzone. I have very sensitive and acne prone skin and I am trying mineral tinted sunscreens, currently I have the Paula’s Choice Super-light daily wrinkle defense spf 30 and MDSolarSciences spf 50 in light-medium. Not sure yet which one I like best. Also, I have to comment on my HG under eye cream, the Avène Soothing eye contour cream. This dedicated eye cream has saved my ultra dry and tight under eye skin. I don’t even use concealer anymore (I don’t have bags or dark circles) and my under eyes look super smooth and just perfectly healthy and hydrated. I will continue to repurchase. Love your channel!!

I've used the Cerave Hydrating cleanser since 2007.I started using retinoids then for my teenage going into hormonal acne.It works well for those with dehydrated/dry due to treatments skin.I also used the lotion and cream. The lotion worked well for my dehydrated,flaky sensitized oily skin then and works well with my more balanced combo/seasonally dry/oily skin now I keep Cliniques DDML on hand because it has never cause an issue with my skin.Even after I was building up my barrier after giving myself chemical burns. I seem to have some sort of sensitivity to vanicream and cetaphil products.If I use them to often I will break out and develop a rash.

@@nachurichz6199 The cerave regular pump lotion. It depends on what my skin is like in the morning. I either use the Cerave hydrating, or a Micellar water. I use a alcohol free witch hazel toner (thyers or Dickson's hydrating) or a thick hydrating one that I press into my skin. (innsfree or Klairs) I use my cream (Cerave) or lotion (Cerave Pm, regular or Clinique) in my dry places and a gel-cream (Clinique DDMG or Moisture Surge) in my t-zone. If I am actually getting out of the house I will use sunscreen (I usually use a generic baby one) I double cleanse at night I use a cleaning oil, balm or cold cream first then I use my Cerave foaming cleanser I use my AF witch hazel toner and then layer the thick hydrating one. It sinks into the skin to actually hydrate but doesn't make my skin more oily cos my skin is getting the moisture it needs, so it produces less oil. I'd recommend giving it a try cos it's quite cheap too. Good luck 🥰

By the way, I totally forgot to mention that I use to wash my face in the morning and evening, but as I have gotten older and my skin has changed I only wash my face in the evening. May sound gross to some, but I noticed when I was washing my face twice a day in my thirties my skin just seemed really dry. Thankfully, I figured it out. I use a gentle toner in the morning to wipe off any residue from lastnight's products, then do my morning moisturizer, and sunscreen twice. My skin is happier since I started that new routine.

I've been trying to follow this routine (vanicream gentle foaming, tretinoin/dapsone, vanicream daily facial moisturizer, cerave renewing gel oil) and have noticed that my dry skin has been getting better overall EXCEPT around my eyes. The skin around my eyes isn't red but it burns when you touch. Have you experienced this? Any recommendations? @Abbey Yung

I just started aczone/dapsone topical gel a few months ago, and when the weather turned cold and the furnace turned on and the indoor air is dry, I started getting a similar reaction on my eyelids to what you described! Then I also noticed that in a few days there was also a dry patch and even my gentle moisturizer was burning and tingling a little just on my eyelids. I think it was the dapsone, so if you're still using that what I've been doing is switching to a WAY thicker moisturizer and being very cautious to keep my dapsone application far away from my eyes. I dot it on the outside of my face and rub it in toward the center, staying away from my eyes. I talked to my medical aesthetician who also happens to use dapsone, and she gave me that method. She says dapsone/aczone does travel on the skin even if you don't apply it directly to your eyes, so it's important to keep it away from the eyes. Also only use a small pea size amount. I was using way too much also.

Just watched a couple of your videos and HOLY SH*T I learned so much! I’m 36 and am just now realizing I should do some research and have an actual skincare routine. Up until now, I’ve been one of those hippies who doesn’t want to use harmful chemicals, so I just used regular bar soap (I know, I know). With extremely oily, mottled, saggy/wrinkly, and hormonal acne skin, I need to make some drastic changes, but didn’t know where to start until now. Thank you!!

Side note: even if you’re not a hippie, check out the Healthy Living app by EWG, which gives safety ratings (and ingredient lists) for tons of products.

Love this! So well done! Been a subscriber for about a month and have been BINGING your videos haha. I'm a skincare freak too. And you basically described my skincare routine in this video. I used to have more of an elaborate routine in my early to mid 20s but now it's paired down to this and my skin has never been more happy. I have extremely sensitive skin so once I tossed out the "extra products that work beautifully for so many skin types but not mine," my skin thanked me. Sometimes the skin needs less to thrive, and in my case, that was it. Sorry for the long response, love your videos and your personality, so freaking genuine.

Minimal Skin care sounds perfect, especially in a world that's constantly, bombarding you with products for this and that! Since the mask, I haven't worn any foundation, just mascara.. why wear lipstick if your lips are covered by a stupid mask? I call it my, "Semi Naturel Look." That Tinted Moisturizer, is a must. Thank you!

I’m so lost. I have combination skin but I know nothing about skincare. I’ve tried cerave and it didn’t help me. All moisturisers I’ve tried, I’ve been able to rub off & they just feel heavy, like I’m wearing a mask. Tonight I tried the ordinary serum, but the directions weren’t clear, I got it all wrong & had to wash it off! I’m a disaster! I don’t know if/how/when I’m meant to exfoliate? Someone please help me

Hi Abbey! What are your thoughts on isopropyl myristate (being a comedogenic ingredient) being in trentinoin?
@AbbeyYung
@AbbeyYung 4 года назад
Research I’ve read says that ingredient is actually not pore clogging and that is a misconception. Regardless, I wouldn’t worry about it though! Tretinoin is the best thing to ever happen to my pores 😂

My skin is very sensitive, and I have combination skin. I get an oily t zone and I get dry skin in areas like under my nose and all around my eyes. So would the ceraVe hydrate be a good option? If my skin reacts to something it will become extremely dry and what about moisturizer? I could really do with your help 🙂

Hi! Awesome video. Have you done one on the best azelaic acid you've found? I prefer azelaic acid to retinoids as it also helps with PIH and is a lot less irritating for my acne.

@@AbbeyYung Nice. I wish I could try the ordinary's but you can only get Finacea (prescription-based azelaic acid 15%) here in Canada. Anyhow, I would definitely recommend looking into azelaic acid and tea tree oil. Both are magic for acne, in my experience.

Hiiiii... I'm just completely new to skin care. Just started today with your video and this was useful information 💖 However I have a silly question that I was hoping you or someone else could help me answering... When you are applying all of the products, do you have to rinse in between or they go one over the other? Also, before the cleanser, like in the shower, should we wash our face with like a neutral soap? Pls remember I'm brand new in this skin care world 😸 I really appreciate the help 💞

12 minutes in and looks like a product placement for CeraVe. These cleansers and moisturizers were brutal for my 41 year old combo skin. The brand has comodogenic formulas and some shady marketing (Rob from Mad About Skin is a fantastic resource on this topic).
