Wow! That is super minimal. You’re a new content creator to me, so perhaps you have a multitude of open ended toys and games already that are serving you well and you are currently leaning more toward “consumable” one and done items so as not to add unnecessary clutter? Anyway, always fascinating to see how others approach the season, so thanks for an interesting watch. The only thing I’m completely struggling with is the stocking situation 😄. If you’re not going to fill them, why have them at all? Honestly, I’m just interested in the thought process, not criticising at all! I’m guessing you don’t invest in the whole Santa Claus thing so it’s just a little confusing to me. Doesn’t it just necessitate unnecessary explanations to the children as to why their stockings aren’t filled? I think I’d find it less complex to simply not have them, personally. But we’re all different, and life would be very boring if we weren’t 😊. Wishing you a very happy festive season.
Wow, thank you for that kind comment. We actually do have a lot of open ended toys. Those were the focus the last few years for Christmas and Birthdays, so this year it was adding more of the same (legos, Magnatiles, etc) or focus on consumables and the one 'digital' item. So that is why we don't have any of them this time. I think your comment on the stockings is so funny, lol. I guess it is because we live in the Netherlands. Nobody in our country really does stockings, so our kids never ask for anything in it. They see it as decor as much as we do. But I can see how that would be different in the US, where it is more of a thing. Maybe we will start filling them when we move to the US ;)
@@stephanie-algra Ah, I see! The stocking situation is just a cultural divide 😄. I’m a little envious if I’m honest. Costs a fortune to fill the damn things 🤣🤣🤣
This is a great set of gifts for each of your kids. I might have a small suggestion for stockings if fits your lifestyle to fill them with maybe fruits and practical items such as hygeine items. My mother always filled ours with things we needed for hygeine and snacks, and maybe one or two small personal items (usually puzzles for me).
We do the four gifts also but for the something to wear I usually make it fun. I wouldn’t get my kid socks as a gift either. For Christmas he got a fun backpack and for his birthday his something to wear is going to be roller skates.
Lovely haul Steph! Our kids get new PJ's, a nice treat and some cute accessories (girls haha) We have lots and lots of open ended toys so we did not need to add to that. The baby is not getting anything because he doesn't even know what's up haha. Christmas is mostly about Jesus' birth and we want to emphasize that! Have you been doing anything for advent?
Same here. A ton of open ended toys so not buying any this year. We have not been doing a specific advent thing. We have done that in the past, but in our daily reading plan for school we are in Luke reading about Jesus’ birth. So it lined up perfectly😉
