This tool roll is wonderful. It solves all the issues I have with other tool rolls and then goes on to do more. The Roaring Fire Pack Mule Tool Roll: is the best I've used. Made with solid materials, a dialed-in design, and 100% functional!
Use the code LBT10 at checkout on the Roaring Fire Website: to save 10% on either the Packmuile Tool Roll or the Picofire pouch.

My mom bought me a SAS survival book 10y ago, the imo best one by John L Wiseman. He also mentioned in his book that if you want to keep stuff secure, fuck toggles, fuck buttons, fuck buckles. Zippers are what you want. Do the others have their place? Sure. But not to keep small items from being lost. I’m a offshore electromechanic now. I work all over the globe on the ships of a famous Belgian offshore company. We build windfarms, do dredging, battling oil spills, marine construction, salvage operations, umbilicals, pipelines… Name it, pay for it. And we’ll get it done 🤷‍♂️ I keep their stuff running so they can get their project done. Often in the least ideal of places, during hours most of us prefer to sleep. 😂 I also took to using a high quality 5.11 backpack with good internal organisation. (AMP 24) It has a velcro backing inside for my Wera ratchet set, first aid kit and different toolkits and boxes. Its like a paramedic’s bag when you open it up, but for machinery instead of humans. Its not a full workshop or toolcart. But its my go to for mobile jobs or smaller tasks. Zippers and organisation in general are great. Also helps you to avoid losing things or leaving them in places they should not be left 💀 Love this setup! Looks like a high quality no-nonsense product! I like it! If they ever send me stateside, i’ll order one!

It was well worth them sending that to you for this overview. Excellent sales opportunity! Now to see if I can find one in the UK for my Landie! Currently using a much less good tool roll in the back, with a smaller tool pouch up front.

My company sends/gives products for reviews. Usually our sampler box. The cost is inconsequential, but the benefit is substantial. We see essentially immediate results. Sometimes within a matter of hours. Very much worth doing. OTOH, my own RU-vid time is limited and I'd rather not spend it watching infomercials.

@@felixf5211 I think there's a balance. For introducing me to useful things I didn't know existed or showing me how an item would fit in with my way of doing things, great. For ramming the same thing down my throat that I didn't want then and still don't want, not so much. So long as people are clear about where kit has come from.

I love the Roaring Fire gear. I own practically all of their stuff. Been super happy with the Pack Mule and the Mini Armadillo. I have two Pack Mules, one in my full size pickup and one in my overlanding SUV. I just ordered the new Bonfire roll based on your recent video about it. The Bonfire will be outfitted with a basic set of metric tools for placement in my wife's Mini Cooper S. I love the tool rolls because they fit in different places that hard tool boxes do not fit. Tanks for another great video, Doc!

This my first comment on any RU-vid video but I felt compelled after purchasing this tool roll based off this glowing review. To be fair I generally agree with your videos. The material used in this roll was a poor choice. Design wise, it is excellent. Straps are problematic, the material is much too soft and binds in the buckle. The canvas is semi loosely woven. Any slightly abrasive item either easily damages or pulls out strands of material. Strap retention bands are sewn too small, exacerbates the binding of the soft strap material. Not that my opinion is worth anything, but I do quite a bit of R&D for an unrelated industry and see a missed opportunity with this piece of gear. Again design is great, zippers are in fact silky smooth, but cotton duck in the body and straps is a fail. I would not recommend this product until they update their materials. Enough rambling from me, keep up the great content!

Great video. I visited their website and Roaring Fire makes some good looking stuff. Question for you, can you suggest a small zippered case to protect a Fluke 87? Thanks!
@lastbesttool
@lastbesttool 2 года назад
Frankly, I have had good luck looking at higher end photo/video cases/pouches for tools. There are many good brands in the rarefied air of quality photo/video gear storage options. Widen your search to include monitors, drones, and always consider pelican cases if rough handling is common.

Do you have a place to roll it out? I have tool rolls (the ones that come with some of the Stahlwille wrench sets), and I make myself custom set ups with pliers and such, but for some vehicles there is not a good place to set them out. Rovers yes, Porsches no. To that end, I find I prefer the cloth bags with many inside pockets for mobile kits although I am starting to transfer over to all VETO for the ease of access and hard bottom (setting cloth on wet ground is bad).

Can't help but wonder if you had considered the Blue Ridge Overland Gear tool bag? The larger is what I went with and has six of the removable separate bags (same velcro attachment you showed).
@lastbesttool
@lastbesttool 2 года назад
Yes, I watched videos on it. Looks solid, but larger than what I wanted, and the full coverage flaps on this Roaring Fire really sold me. I am not as excited about the individual pouches as I am the tool slots and elastic. otherwise I would go with an easier system where I used the Milwaukee pouches all in a Milwaukee gate mouth bag. But this is the largest Roaring Fire tool roll and if my needs expand (which I'm sure they will) then the Blue Ridge Overland bag is on my radar. Thanks for watching.

I have used the Carhartt roll on my motorcycle, attached to the front of my bike. Crisscrossed the country. Haven’t lost a tool yet, but with everything in life YMMV. You had mentioned that Roaring Fire has excellent warranty support, what has been your experience so far with it?
@lastbesttool
@lastbesttool 2 года назад
I haven't used the warranty, but Roaring Fire was quite upfront about handling warranty, and given their online support for me, I am assuming that they are both careful and interested in their customer interactions. Each pice comes with a special warranty card explaining what is an isn't covered. Most companies I work with have an afterthought mention of the warranty, but Roaring Fire seems not to be afraid of talking about manufacture defects, and encouraging customer contact with Roaring Fire customer service. So, while yes, I have not used their warranty, I also have not felt that they are distancing themselves from problems.
