Now I know how Pokémon trainers survive travelling around a region with only a backpack. Thanks for the tips.

Some of my key travel items. - White leather tennis shoes. They work great for everything from the trail to the club. No need for separate workout and dress shoes. The leather is important because it cleans far easier. - Dark blue (or black) jeans. Also fit into every activity category. - Silkie shorts. Used by the US Marines, they are perfect as underwear, workout shorts, or swim trunks. Plus, they are super compact/light-weight and dry quickly. Those, one Oxford shirt, four t-shirts (white, blue, black, charcoal), one pair of shorts, one pair of khaki pants, a light jacket, a sweater, a belt, flip flops, and Marino socks were enough for me to live comfortably out of a personal item for almost an entire year without ever feeling like I was missing anything.

Crocs over sadals and flipflops. Bit bulkier but weigh nothing, float, can be hiked in, worn with socks, wiped dry and still protect your toes.

youre the first person to mention bringing some sort of bed lining, especially if you are someone who is concerned about unclean stuff. I never even thought of that, pretty smart if you are into that.

I think bringing your iPad Mini is still a good idea. Let's say your phone gets stolen/lost. Your iPad Mini can still get you out of trouble since the bank and email app are the same as in your phone. Just leave your tablet in your hotel/hostel as well as a debit card

Good Tips, I've been ruff traveling with just a backpack for over 50 years. I discovered fishing shirts many years ago. They are cheap and will dry overnight when hand washed. I get both long and short sleeve and they have great velcro pockets for passport and credit cards. The last ones I got even had a zipper pocket.

Pretty good list but I disagree about the jeans. Jeans were made for cowboys and miners. They're hot in summer, a real pain to wash and get dry quickly and in some areas, I'm thinking parts of Spain and Italy, I've seen people refused admission to places when they've been wearing jeans or shorts. Better to have some lighter weight, semi-smart pants - maybe lighter weight chinos? - or ones with zip-off legs. Try and find things that have more than one use; a lightweight peshtemal towel can be used as a towel, scarf, sweat rag, sheet, pillow wrap, sarong for when you come out of the shower, picnic rug - you can even tie one up for an emergency shopping bag! They weigh about 300g for a 1.8 x 0.9m one.

I'm from Spain and I cannot think of a place you would visit while travelling where you can’t enter with jeans, maybe in some cathedrals if you are wearing really short shorts they might tell you you can’t enter, but that’s it. But I agree wearing jeans during summer in Spain in certain places it’s not the best idea cause it gets really hot

Do most hostels provide towels/washcloths?
@hectormf99
@hectormf99 Год назад
In my experience, most hostels in Europe don’t provide free towels, but you can rent one for a few euros. If you want to save money you can always bring a fast dry towel, they usually don’t take a lot of space
