Minimum British Effort (And suffering) - Challenger 2 - War Thunder

I actually got a bike 3 days ago after watching oddbawz t80bvm video and ima be posting it here soon, for some reason tho I am a Russian main, the British tanks give me the most hard time, at least in top tier because I’m so used to aiming at the neck of vehicles and then they pop out and I’m like “ah crap” but keep up the good work!!

If it helps, just keep in mind that British tank doctrine still centers around the Infantry Tank. You should have some IFVs and infantry with ATs to make it work IRL

What i think is crazy is how downplayed the Challenger 2 is , And i really don't think War Thunder give it a fair shake Out of the " Normal " classed as Best MBT out of the main 3 it been one of them , It has the longest tank on tank kill in the world , has imo best Fire control system ( Hunter - Killer mode ) and its the only one to go to war and get Smacked a bunch of times and not to ever get knocked out It got hit with well over a dozen of RPG's and a Kornet and it stayed in the fight and won that engagement , Which is Fucking insane , and another Time in Iraq it was ambushed by two RPG's teams got hit a bunch more , They got a mobility kill , But a few hours later it was back in the fight These stats are fucking Insane , Truly insane for anything to be hit by that much firepower and stay in the fight and no crew dead the opposite , the two hunter killer teams were killed and camera recovered , But also to have the Longest Tank on Tank kill does really show the power of that HE round , i Don't really think they did a good job putting that info into the game , Been its not used by many and it should be its stats are crazy good

What's funny is it doesn't seem to be an issue in arcade, only realistic and sim.

If you don't already, use your brakes to turn and the mobility issues are fixed.

Unfortunately I can't agree with your opinion, this thing stinks, doesn't have speed, has awful firepower and this shit can't even tank, Chally 2 sucks in this game, I'm trying to get Black Knight, but it is so far, the most stressful MBT that I've played until now, I got Abrams, BVM/B3, 2A6, Type 90, and none of them are so bad than Chally 2. Chally 2 IRL: I can take tons of rpgs Chally 2 in WT: Stop shooting my mantlet! It hurts :(

Russian tanks have, aribitrarily, significantly better hull traverse mobility, one of those things can 360 in under 10 seconds, the same cannot be said for the challenger. Russian MBTs also have significantly better armour and a lower profile, although irl they have significantly worse armour. The worse your armour is, the more important the mobility.

@@cerdic6867 т72 series actually lack in mobility. Exept t72b3. Leos and abrams with their 1500hp engines were faster. And actually t72b series more armored than abrams and leos especially with contact 5. T72B's hull with relict ERA is more armored than any modern MBT if they are not using ERA themselves. But it doesnt matter anyways since any modern mbt without active protection system is vulnerable against top attack ATGMs... Maybe some era on the roof would help but ukraine proved otherwise...

Gaijin wont model the chally correctly nor will they make it closer to irl (and will likely continue to nerf it) because then it will actually counter Russian tanks

Yeah most of top tier tanks does have thermal for the commander mg, the problem is I always forget that there is this feature

Gaijin refuses to add regenerative steering for some reason. it would make the challenger so much better.

@@jbeverley67 using brakes is the closest thing to the performance in game. Using the normal steering is horrible on lots of vehicles sadly.

Export tank are less effective than their country that produces them except if they make a list of adjustments just like Greece, Spain, Sweden etc....

@@TheStalinator255 I know the mechanic isn't the same but for me the effects are equal to 125 mm HE. Everything that isn't an MBT is one hit kill when hit at the turret roof.

I dont understand, the tank is already turning by applying the brakes. What do you exactly mean by turning with left and right brakes?

@@288gto7 no it doesn't, when turning normally it's using the neutral steel system by reversing one track to turn the tank. Use left and right brakes and the tank skids on the locked track without the engine losing power or the gears needing to shift for the track

@@majo3488 they did there is a picture with the system on the cheeks of the turret (no not trophy) and the same system on the puma attached to the roof as well. It was tested in 2003 i believe.

@@majo3488 The germans tested them on their leopard tanks, afterall the muss is a german aps. EADS never got a contract for the MUSS on leopards but they wanted to test the system on them and as we all know it was implemented on Pumas. So although it was never full scale its possible to mount MUSS on leopard 2A5 at the very least.

Gaijin have a spreadsheet for intended protection values of MBTs, Challenger 2 UFP is 520mm @ 30 degrees iirc, and that's what informs their NERA/ERA modifiers. You also don't need to do the maths, all the modifiers are in the game files. The CR2 UFP NERA, for example, has 1.01x KE and 2.05x CE.

No they aren't. The commander can look through the gunner's thermals but his independant sight does not have a thermal imager in it. Only the RCWS on the 2F and TES have it and I'm not too certain if you can use the RCWS as a commander's sight to slave the gun and stuff IRL.

Nope, minimum 11.0. Look at T90A on 10.7, no reverse speed and maneuverability

@@Niko_rj chally 2 does have better reverse speed but no manoeuvrability is the same, but chally’s armour is terrible in this game with huge weak spots. The mantlet weak point is so weak and huge that even turning the turret from kilometres away doesn’t make the round hit the cheeks.

It's because Gaijin only gives the side composites 30mm of protection against kinetic energy, so it's effectively "no armor is best armor". They have it being modeled as so thin that it doesn't even spall most of the time.

it has the most interesting top tier lineup imo, the tanks all offer something different and a different playstyle (tes , 2f , black night) , then pair that with the apache, and the jaguar for "cas" , you also have the adats, and its just a fun 11.0 lineup in general.

@@underviv64 true true , but also the tanks for britain around 8.3 are great, warrior is a blast , chieftains are super fun to use , around 7.0 you feel pure pain but if you push through you get rewarded, also the starting heli isn't terrible, but grinding heil's is like self inflicting pain so whatever

@@Boombox-gh8gx I'd like to remind you that the Challenger's hull is actually heavily armored than it is in the game. Yes, it was meant to be played defensively but at the same time it is able to shrug off hits.
