Come along on our mining journey from Colorado to New Mexico. We left at 11:30pm and arrived around 9am the following morning. We had 3 hours to find as many pecos diamonds as possible in one small location. Artesia, NM was a safe bet so we went there first. Fierce afternoon thunderstorms rolled in and we decided leaving New Mexico would be best. We drove straight back to Colorado after finding a few hundred specimens.
A few tips:
-Bring plastic baggies or a fanny pack to store diamonds in
-Wear sunscreen and maybe bug spray
-Stay hydrated
-Map and plan where you are going before you go
-If going during the summer, get there very early and try to leave before noon
-Look for spots in the dirt roads that are orange/white
-Have fun!
