basically yes. it pulls less power than most desktops while being more powerful. mainly in multi threaded stuff.

haha thats true. It could play old like 2006 old games maxed at 1080p. Love Oblivion, i could also play crysis probably. but ya by todays standards its not good. I call the iGPU sufficient for daily use. haha

That's why they included the overcompensator PCIe 5 slot. Put all the balls you need into graphics. The CPU already has you covered, just feed it lotsa memory.

thats a primary reason i found this board so interesting. I search the web for people who actually tested the intel 13900HX (or what ever the top intel 13gen mobile is) for comparing clocks to watts. This was overall better. ironically at low power intel better and at over 110W intel better. but between this one. I dont recall the benchmark the user did. Can remember where I saw it reddit probably.

@@computer-tech-more honestly my only complaint from the 7945HX is why the heck didn't they include a radeon 780M instead of a 610M. Could have made a massive improvement in graphics performance, the only reason i can come up with is perhaps it would increase the power draw. Not a huge fan of the intel chips with hybrid architecture, for desktop you'll want something with 100% performance cores, but they're good for mobile/laptops (like the core ultra chips). I saw a new chris titus video and he just got a xeon workstation instead because he didn't want e-cores stuff lol.

@@pouf-dk3nqactually the hybrid thing is a reason i have been waiting on the desktop side. Making sure it will work as intended or I should say as I want it to.

Best gaming when u pair with 3080+ gpu with less power draw! A 650w psu is plenty for this! 😎

if your just going to use the iGPU yes but if you attach a full GPU teh 9845HX will be better. AMD has great iGPU's.

@@computer-tech-more Yes, was only talking about the iGPU. Obviously everything changes with dGPU. Most processors are so fast these days, they can all push a decent dGPU.

well i was on carpet cant be to careful with static. I tend to generate static electricity. but ya i generally agree. LTT has a video about that. it was shocking haha. oh but thanks for the note about the clear coat i did notice the shine but just though it was the mobo plastics they used. Thx.

@@computer-tech-more they used to be much more fragile 30,40+ years ago. The older the stuff you are working with, the more you want to use precautions for static and such… both because of the construction of the board (+ lack of coating, etc) and the resiliency of the individual components. Just to put it perspective how rare this is…i have been, relative to you in your video, completely reckless with my stuff over the past 25+ years… and ive never had anything fail this way… and I have had many thousands of boards for all sorts of electronics during that time. The only time I use some kind of protection is with high voltage where it could kill the board, and me… though, im more worried about the board usually.

using the Fast 2160p60 4K HEVC (10bit) about 21fps. but every video is different. I can get differences of 5-10fps from one to the next. cinebench R23 final score 30605

oh. I had to just randomly pick numbers on the fan. its basically only a high low if I recall. The mobo doesnt really let you set up good fan curves.

@@computer-tech-more oh ok ok, well I will try that then, I sent an email to minisforum support asking for a guide to setup the fans on the BIOS but if they won't answer me, I will randomly change them, thanks 😬👍🏻

@@computer-tech-more don't worry, just the developers know what they tried to shown in the BIOS 😅. Luckily yesterday the Fan Control got an update and now is detecting all fans, so time to play with the fans 😬

it depends on what you want. That would make a great tv box or basic compute or low powered gaming / emulation. Main disadvantage is no expand-ability other than storage and RAM. No gpu no egpu. the BD790i is a full desktop replacement when paired with a GPU. YOu need to buy the power supply and have an extra fan. so there is extra cost there. plus a case. I have an 8th Gen Nuc love it for a tv box. small and efficient. plan on making a NES emulator out of it one of these days.

@@caddytrader hmm thats good. The bios is to basic and FanControl doesnt work very well. I ended up removing it. The heatsink cooler design. I guess more heat pipes to just have lower thermals. On the board itself USB4 or USB3gen2x2 ports would be nice. But in-terms of what I actually built. Its as good as it can be. Im glad i did this over a desktop chip (atleast for now) power efficiency.

@@computer-tech-more So for sure this is faster than the um780. ? Also what graphic card would you recommend. I have 3 Dell monitors that run @144 hertz. The um780 runs them real smooth. I do no game , I just trade stocks and have about 5 platforms open, but at the same time Imwatch RU-vid in 4k. I cannot handle when a computer stutters and glitches when trying to watch 4k. I want to beat it to death a hammer 😂 Recommend me a card and what’s the fastest memory

well it all depends on what you are looking for. I did the math boy did i do the math. I was very tempted to go and build a full desktop. But for a mobo that actually liked its specs was more like $300. plus i need a decent cooler another $50 plus. then it would have a higher power draw at low power states where this will be living 80% of the time. This just suited my needs better. Like i here you biodegradability is great. that was one thing i really had to think about. Im also not gaming on it. its mostly encode and decoding work loads. CPU based for better smaller files. Future I can add my current RTX3070 and have a gaming pc. for old games by then. Or i could build a killer NAS with it. the pci 16 can bifurcate to 8x4x4. lots of HDD's. buhahaha. but ya going mobile CPU you have to know what you are getting and understand the limitation before the purchase. and its not for everyone.

@@computer-tech-morewith a Radeon AMD gpu you could even install hackintosh and with a pcie nvme gen5, be faster than the current mac studio m2 ultra for many tasks. Actually for the price of a serious mac studio 4-6k usd you could buy two of these (with 6900 xt 96gb ram and 4tb gen 5 ,... EACH ) and have spare money for a macbook ipad or iphone or windows laptop 2 in 1 with touchscreen.. then using PARSEC you can work remotely without too much lag (you can even game or do video work..). Same idea goes for that setup instead of a macbook pro m3 max with high specs... Comparing to other budget windows solutions, the upcoming askrock deskmeet x600 is an option as well. Self contained but with more limited gpu options.

no its a mobile cpu strapped to a itx mobo. no voltage controls. Level1 tech has a good review. but in short it looks like a custom cooler and hole placement. so its probably not replaceable. but it should come off fairly easily for re pasting.

I'm going to say it has to do with power draw in the total package and heat (in the small area). I have a laptop with a 5900hs when I ran benchmarks for the IGPU the CPU score was always always lower than when I ran the same test with the DGPU. now I would have liked something a bit more powerful. but its fine. Could play Oblivion maxed out at 1080p probably. hahaha.

The 7945HX is not the same product as the 7940HS. 7940HS is based on the Rembrandt APU die, which is a monolithic die with one CCX (8 cores) + a 780M iGPU. the 7945HX is based on a desktop Raphael package, the same one used in desktop Ryzen 7000 series (7950X, etc). They just package it differently for mobile (no heatspreader, BGA soldered instead of socketed LGA) and give it a lower power limit. The 610m is the iGPU on the IOD of Raphael. The 7945HX is a desktop 7950X with a reduced power limit.

so what temps are you getting running tests. check Cinebench R23 multi. CPU max wattage around 100W. Temps in the 90c range. if your getting 90-100Watts in the CPU package your fine. if the power is lower probably something wrong with the cooler.

i have the sibling BD770i and its 7745HX is also hot at 70+ idle but i liquid metal on the die and dropped to around 60 (sometimes lower) idle, gaming it goes up to almost 90 but never over it. so yea liquid metal contact + a strong slim single 120mm fan from ARTIC helped to change the experience

@@leonsim2260 i think your temps are high compared to mine. but I might also have the idle fan speed set as high as possible but still basically silent. Using a spare A12x25 I had from old build.

@@zodiacfml its sort of what you want /need. the 770i 8core has a better iGPU but this has the better CPU. I needed a cpu can can add gpu later so 790i. glad it could help. its been doing well so far. about a month I guess. edit: the iGPU in the 2 CPU options are the same. For some reason I had thought they were different.

If I have 16 core CPU doing encoding work, while it is inefficient at maximizing work, then it also means I still have a smoothly running PC for browsing, or even games! That is nice to have, pretty luxury though. Getting the 16 core is $120 more.🤔🤔 THanks for the reply, I definitely reconsider.
