Featuring Al Jourgensen, Dave Navarro, Liz Walton, Dan Cleary, Michael Rozon, Morgan Kibler. With Charlie Clouser on Keys. Footage shot & edited by Thaddeus Bridwell www.thaddywarbucks.com
To all my fellow misfits and vagabonds who took on this song as our anthem... We are still here, we are still relevant, we still trod through life with a hope of something bigger than ourselves.. You are NOT alone. There are many who understand what you feel. I am one of them ...and I love you.
I don't know if this song actually was the result of him being on the Phil Donahue show oh so many years ago, but check out what he says around minute 8:30 in the video. ;) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UGOQUahAmxg.html
So many times did I fight for I looked different then everyone else. Listening to different music or had different friends. Yes this has more meaning to me then you can imagine. Long live the Dirty’s
Yes Brother..Being someone whose been playing the music for 40+ now. I'm still on the road and appearing soon before your naked eyes. That's me and Al.. Anyway my mission in life aside from making Goth girls wet has been to encourage everyone different just be you..
Get me the chills, I remember listening to Dark Matter Radio where Al was a guest. Dave Navarro suggested to sing " Halloween" in the studio. Al replied" it's been 30 years that I have performed this song" Gladly Al accepted the challenge, it was magical! Thanks, Al and Dave, for this beautiful gift!♥️
There will never be another Al Jourgensen ever!!!! ..............................lyrics ........ Well I live with snakes and lizards And other things that go bump in the night 'Cause to me everyday is Halloween I have given up hiding and started to fight I have started to fight Well any time, any place, anywhere that I go All the people seem to stop and stare They say "why are you dressed like it's Halloween? You look so absurd, you look so obscene" Oh, why can't I live a life for me? Why should I take the abuse that's served? Why can't they see they're just like me It's the same, it's the same in the whole wide world Well I let their teeny minds think That they're dealing with someone who is over the brink And I dress this way just to keep them at bay 'Cause Halloween is everyday It's everyday Oh, why can't I live a life for me? Why should I take the abuse that's served? Why can't they see they're just like me It's the same, it's the same in the whole wide world Oh, why can't I live a life for me? Why should I take the abuse that's served? Why can't they see they're just like me I'm not the one that's so absurd Why hide it why fight it? Hurt feelings best to stop feeling hurt Denials, reprisals It's the same it's the same in the whole wide world It's the same it's the same in the whole wide It's the same it's the same in the whole wide It's the same it's the same in the whole wide world
“Oh, why can't I live a life for me? Why should I take the abuse that's served? Why can't they see they're just like me? It's the same, it's the same in the whole wide world” These lyrics mean everything to me
They just made the song even more electric. Restarting the hearts of us who were honored to have lived, and experienced this new born dynamic era of music changed our lives forever. Showing the younger generations what brought us up to become what we all our now, the future that succeeded to express ourselves inside and out, and still make it in life to work any job, or have a PhD etc.. while looking how we want, saying what we feel, and publicly caring for anyone no matter the gender, color or religion by staying 100% real. The ultimate anthem of our time. We MADE IT!
Al, "With Sympathy" is unironically one of my favorite albums. I'd knock an old lady down a flight of stairs to see what you'd do with retro synthpop nowadays, or a country album with Barry Kooda in Dallas.
I know he hates it, but it's so damn good. This version of this song is great. I just want to kill every single time I see Dave Navarro. Jeez, I'm watching as I type and this video...I'm gonna' go get a dictionary and see if Ministry's currently next to the definition of "Pretentious".
I agree! I love their harder stuff way more but With Sympathy is just so catchy and it may be from a bygone era but that's what makes it such an escape from reality.
Class Of 1986 this was my Anthem 🥰🧙🏼♀️😈I was proud to look obscene. Still Am!!! Glad to see we are all aging gracefully. This is a fantastic arrangement!!! 🎃😈 #frisson
This will be played at my funeral from the speakers in my casket.. Everyone will receive a copy of the lyrics printed on linen card stock embossed in black and purple. We are all the same..... Thank you for sharing your beautiful talents with those who will listen.
That was my first notion too: How appropriate a comment on my appreciation of life in poignant words and beautiful, unique music that Uncle Al and friends have done again! A most fitting song for a funeral for those that have truly appreciated and enjoyed his (and Ministry's) works.
discovered WAXTRAX! in 87-88 through college radio legend L.D.(little dave) and his UCF Orlando FL program the INDUSTRIAL FEST. with a "MIND.." tour PSA from AL - "Hi this is Al from MINISTRY .. our true fans are the ones who shoplift our records cuz they'll do anything to hear the new sounds!" u guys are my culture so thank u !!!!
I’m not even done listening to it & I’m in awe! It’s beautiful, brilliant & absolutely epic! Love it so much, those strings & the bombastic drums, yes!
25 years ago: /me stomps angrily to Ministry Today: /me still stomps angrily but meaningfully 'cause I know the lyrics You guys nailed it. Brought a tear to this old grumpy goth's eye. Thank you.
This song is very relatable as a metalhead who mostly wears dark clothing and band shirts i got accused of being a satanist and got called other awful names just for being who i wanted to be
AWW DID SOMEONE USE WORDS ON YOU SNOWFLAKE? The hidden meaning of this song is this: you chose to continue to dress a certain way in spite of knowing what would happen. But why oh why won't the world change FOR ME?? You take the abuse that was served because, right or wrong, you volunteered for it.
Uncle Al, thank you so much for this Halloween present! I remember singing along and dancing to this in the 80s, and I'm still happy to be a weirdo. I saw you and Chris do this at House of Vans on Record Store Day and it brought tears to my eyes. xoxo
I'm so pissed that I found out about this a day late. Either way, this blew me away. Exactly what I needed to hear the day after Halloween when the shift now is to the Winter holidays. Rock on Al!
I have that album on CD and also the 12” collection that I probably bought way back in 1990 something 🙌🏻 Club favorites for sure. “Work for love” was a great club song.
Was fortunate enough to see Ministry and Mark Walk of Skinny Puppy play in Hollywood 1989. Two drummers that night.......no words can describe how awesome it was. The mind is a terrible thing to taste
i don't think there can be more, we set out own paths "where roads are made i lose my way" - tagore but yeah - a lifetime eh keep fucking fighting for west papua
Into the rabbit hole of Houston, I was... Numbers was where I met and saw many perform the first time. Having connections to dance mixed 12' albums helped refine our choices of trips to the area. The Cult, Ministry, Love & Rockets, just to name a few. This even brings back memories of vivid occasions to downtown at Mecca on straight nights.
thing is... it really hasnt. al uses a lot of effects on his voice. he can still sing that old synthpop stuff if he wants to. i think his surgical meth something side project had a song where he sang clean and his voice is actually quite great for his age.
I remember listening to Ministry for the first time more that 25 years ago and getting goosebumps... listening to this version gave me goosebumps again...
I love the original version of this track, because of all the memories and history attached to it, but this is a seriously righteous version! Amazing! Only the originators could take it to this level. 🍺😋👍
This is the first new music video that I've watched multiple times in quite awhile -- gets better with every viewing!!! So of my favorite moments are: When Al leans back in a chair wearing this beaming smile on his face so full of joy and genuine warmth; When everyone joins together, choir-style, harmonizing in a sing-along of the chorus; The scenes of Al playing with knobs, dials and other twiddly bits on the soundboard; When Al growls lyrics into the mic as the song nears its close!!!
I never thought I'd hear a better version of this song..ever. Here I am, loving the Loving Shit out of this version. Where has this been for so long? The only work I can think of is "ASTOUNDING".
I wish I could tell Al in person how great this was and how amazing he is at whatever style you want to call it..I’d love to see and hear so much more like this! I really have a new appreciation for him and love everything about this song and video/footage..sincere and has feeling. Good feeling
The carol of the season in its perfect form. I do like the original, but since release I play this one when the mood hits and especially this time of year. It takes what worked originally and uses all that Al has learned, with some really great people helping out.
