Good information Maxime! I would also like to see an example of 'New Evolution as well as the 'Open Concept Explorer', 'Create Concept Point' and 'Create Concept Branch' commands.

Thank you for your kind message Michael :) Sounds like a good idea for new topic, I will look into it, I do not know when I will provide new video, but soon I hope. Maxime from PLM Technology

Love your videos Maxime. There are very few 3DExperience videos on RU-vid. Yours are very well done and easy to understand. I have a question about minor revisions. What if you have a larger assembly with 30 minor revision updates that are buried in several sub-assemblies. Is there any way to open a product and update all parts/products containing minor revisions to the latest, either with an open advanced, global update, or select children and overload latest minor revisions all at once? I can't find a way to update a whole assembly containing several minor revisions changes. This would be especially useful in cases where another team made the minor revisions and I don't know which products require an update. The B.I. Essentials Minor Revision Management helps that, of course, but it would be nice if there was a way to update all products in an assembly to the latest minor revision if a later minor revision exists. Thanks in advance!

Hello, is this save as minor revision feature still available in R2022x?

why not just click on "global refresh" button, will it not change all the parts to their latest versions ?
@MaximeChagnot
@MaximeChagnot 3 года назад
Hi Outplayed, thank you for your comment, it is a great question! Global refresh is working differently. It will refresh the 3d model design if someone is modifying in the same time. For instance you work in an assembly with your colleague. If he modifies part A nd you cannot see it, you can do a global refresh (F5) and then you will see the modification. Also if you are afraid he can work on your part, I recommend you to use the options "Reserve automatically at opening" in the preferences tab. In that way, you are sure you are the only that can modify the part while working on it.

Beware, that next time you open the assembly the minor revision will revert back to the initial one but the major revision change is memorised

Thank you very much, it's very helpful. But I have a question, how can I use the same Part several times in one Assembly? I want to use the same part but in different position without using constraints but with a master model? Thank you.

Hello Elamine, You have different ways to add the same part in the same assembly: 1) If you want the exactly same part, you can have another “instance” by using copy/paste or linear multi-instantiation or fast multi-instantiation. It can be positioned in a different position of the initial part. However, if you modify the part, all the instance will be modified as well. 2) You can use assembly pattern. ** only works if you have a pattern already in a part. Think like a Fix block with hole pattern, in assembly you can put a screw in the hole, then use pattern to instantiate the screws. You will have several instances like in 1) but position will be mastered by the pattern feature. 3) Use a catalog. You can create one part with several configuration based on parameter and create a catalog. Each part of catalog will be different, but you only need one part as a master. In assembly you can just bring the part from the catalog. I made a video for that topic: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QBHIIAxdq5I.html (a bit old, but that should work!) 4) You could potentially use the feature “new branch” in collaborative lifecycle application. However, it has not been made for that purpose, but more for creating quickly different variant of a concept design. (used more in beginning phase of project). You can retrieve different branch using concept explorer in the same app. I will recommend you the catalog if you want to have a master design part. Good luck! Maxime at PLM Technology.

Good Video that leads me to a follow-up question. Let's assume that your Assembly.AxleA.1 is released. And the 3D Part AxleA.2 (released) has to be changed again (minor Revision because FFF is given). Which Content has to be revised now? Just the part or as well the Assembly.Axle?
@MaximeChagnot
@MaximeChagnot 5 лет назад
Hello Sascha, the Part Axle A.2 is released and has to change so yo do a minor revision to obtain Axle A.3. Then if the Assembly Axle A.1 is "Released", it means that it is saved at this stage and cannot go back to "In Work". So if you want to have Axle A.3 in it, you need to change to Assembly Axle A.2 or Assembly Axle B.1. Thank for your comment!

@@MaximeChagnot Hello thx for your videos, just some precision about minor revision; the main goal of minor revision is to apply changes into axle without any revision sequence changes into Assy. That s why the minor revision behaviour is different than Major Revision. "Overload minor revision" apply a replacement into your author window but this replacement is not saved, to save the replacement into Assy A.1 (in Released state) you just need to Release your axle A.2. it will become your BSF without taken revision of Assy A.1 For Major revise it s different, you need to take a Major revise of the Assy > B.1 to apply replacement

When you open Assembly Axle A.1 after you finish your video. What minor revision of Axle is shown? Is there something new in 2019x how 3DX handle BSF minors???
@MaximeChagnot
@MaximeChagnot 4 года назад
It is Axle.2 that is shown. What BSF stands for? sorry do not understand your question
@Tasisan
@Tasisan 4 года назад
@@MaximeChagnot BSF - best so far minor revision In 3dx 2015 and 2017 there is bussines rule for defining BSF of minor revision and behavior is that always when you open assy, instances are open on BSF minor revision. By default A.1 is BSF, until some other minor revision is released. For example, when you release A.2 it became BSF. Overloads of other minors in assy can not be saved.

Hi Tasisan, ok I see what you mean. I will check that with support and come back to you. I had the same question before. I think you have to release the assembly first.
@MaximeChagnot
@MaximeChagnot 4 года назад
Hi Tasisan, after discussing with support, it seems like if you want to save the assembly with the latest minor revision, the only way is to release the assembly and save it. Unfortunately this cannot be changed...

Hello! so i'm using the the 3DExperience Platform and I'm trying to assign my models to a created Project in the ENOVIA Project Management app. As you explain, you are creating minor and major revision of a product but I don't understand, if a revision is the same word as a "Version". I worked a few years with Teamcenter from Siemems and there, it's possible to check In and check out the products from a project and so manage the Versions of it. It is opssible to make the same with the 3DExperience Plattform? or how do i assign products to a project and manage the versions of it. thank you in advance!
@MaximeChagnot
@MaximeChagnot 4 года назад
Hi Emilio, thank you for your comment. I am not familiar with Version in Teamcenter, but major revision in 3DExperience is revision A.1, rev B.1, rec C.1, etc. and minor revision is rev A.1, rev A.2, rev A.3. You can also change maturity of product (in work, released, frozen, etc.). You can also create evolution (it is similar to making a copy, but you keep the history of previous parts). And finally, you can do check in, check out by using the button "reserve/unreserve" in Enovia Lifecycle. When using B.I essentials, you should find the Reserve status that tells you if you or your colleague has reserved the part. Good luck!
