I taught myself to play classical guitar to a reasonable standard for a self-taught, but have grappled with jazz playing and improvising, on and off for years, to no avail. However, after viewing only one of these incredibly illuminating lessons , I now finally understand how the various scales, modes and arpeggios relate to chord progressions. These lessons are a godsend.
The way you've laid out these lessons - straightforward and focused on the practical aspect of playing is excellent. Thanks for putting it out there this way. Very helpful!
This is my morning's practice sorted then! I'm looking to improve my rockabilly chops and,as we know,there are many similarities between jazz and rockabilly guitar,if I may say so! Great tutorial and please ..more,more,more! :)

Not too Bad, gives some insights. Lily the Am6 is rather poor, and can be moved to tenth fret for Dm6. Nevertheless keep going strong your good contribution, tx 😁🎸🎶
Hello. A chord is missing at the eight bar: try a A7(9-) instead of Am6.You can also play a Bb6 instead of F7 sometimes. Chordially. A french Django's lover.
I don't think that a chord is missing, it's the normal basic Django chord progression of this tune, but you're right you can add these chords. On the other hand for a beginner lesson, I don't want to make the progression more complicated as it used to be. cordially

Hi Ezry, thanks for your interest on my playing style, but I don't think that you should do a research project with my person. As a jazz guitar player I'm only the result of the efforts from great players like Charlie Christian, Django Reinhard, Herb Ellis, Jimmy Raney, Joe Pass, Grant Green Wes Montgomery, Ed Bickert, George Benson, Pat Martino and many more. All of them started the modern jazz guitar style back in the 50s and 60s of the last century. If I were you, I would start your research with them, it's the real history of jazz guitar . . . best regards, Achim
