I replace the spark plugs, wires, belt, and the fuel pressure regulator on the 3800 3.8l GM engine. Although there wasn't much improvement I felt that it ran a little better. Time to get it back on the road!

Thanks for the copper vs platinum spark plug tutorial. Non-professionals like me appreciate the info! Thanks also for spending the time to get all those great close-up shots while you're working. 😊

I bought my 1993 TS for $1800 off a used car lot. My wife said she didn't want a boat as I headed off across the lot with the salesman. I sat in that car and immediately had to have it. When I went to get the wife to look at it she was not happy that it was what she classified as a boat. I told her to just get in it and drive it. Sold instantly. We drove that car for years. Even after she smashed it into a minivan at 60. Someone stole it. Don't tell me they're not desirable.😂

The 3800 was also used in the Holden Commodores here in Australia.

Around the 36 minute mark, I was waiting to hear: "Well, this one was made in Germany, and it wasn't giving us any problems, so I think we are just going to go ahead and leave it for now" haha.

I have a 92 Olds 98 Regency. It's the "base" trim for these cars the Touring Sedan was the highest trim. Out of all the 98s sold in the 90s I belive the Regency Elite was the most popular. The Touring Sedan could get the Supercharged 3800 I believe after 91.

To have a supercharged model. Man I don’t know if one is still in existence haha! Now that would be a rare model!

With magnavox ignition system i like to use denso t16tt spark plugs with 0.040 gap (1mm). Before it i have delco, its work well too😊

Those engines have secial plugs and are set at 0.060" - 0.080" . Massive gap which is said to be responsible for fuel economy
@SwedeMachine

They definitely have a large gap!

Well now I feel bad buying plat plugs for my clapped out 302 Ferd. But they were discounted to 2 euros a pop on RockAuto...
@SwedeMachine
@SwedeMachine Год назад
Don’t feel bad. You got them cheap. Awesome. You probably won’t see much of a difference honestly. Just use them. You won’t have to at least worry about fouling plugs. They will last much longer too. Just send it🤘🏼🔥😁
@Vaino_Hotti
@Vaino_Hotti Год назад
@@SwedeMachine oh yeah, theyll last long, but the engine probably won't :( It's been clattering at idle for 4500 miles now, running on 20W-50. Rebuild/replacement in the books for next winter.

@SwedeMachine Год назад
Oh shoot! You did the right thing. I’m not sure if you can get copper plugs for two dollars each haha! You’re using 20W-50 oil?! Yikes, that engine isn’t long for this world. Rebuild it, and keep them on the road💪🏼💯🤘🏼

@@SwedeMachine Yeah, it's my baby '85 Grand Marquis. Since I'm from Finland, small blocks don't grow on trees, she'll a get a fresh rebuild.

220 k miles and clean spark plugs, that is great. make sure you threaten your friend that if he doesn't take good care of it, bad things will happen. but on a deep, serious voice :)
