My Dad had Granadas and had the metallic green Ghia estate version of this one. As a teenager I loved it so much I used to wash and polish it every weekend for him. When I started to drive he let me and my girlfriend take it on holiday to Cornwall. Very happy memories! 🙏🥰🇬🇧
Look I know this was filmed eight years ago but I just had to say what a gorgeous and beautiful example this car is! I hope it is well and still in existence somewhere! Blessings for 2023 🙏
BOOAAAAHHHHH !!!!!!
I was just watching the movie'The Long Good Friday' made in 1980 and in the beginning there was a beautiful car which had Ford on it. I researched and found out it was this car. What a beauty. Thanks for sharing this video.
Ford Granada MK1 for ever :-)
@Linda Gray pb cresta's are beautiful too,i would love to try one,my freind had a gold mk2 granada gl with the ghia wheels 2.3 v6 it was lovely,it was smooth and fast, sounded great and felt really luxurious i was too young to drive at the time but i would love to have that car now
@Linda Gray lovely cars linda and everyone likes an anglia, don't they? and i would have loved to try the capri 3.0s too, actually i was in a 3.0 litre mk 1 capri when i was about 4 but still remember it well it was my uncles,it was yellow with black vinyl roof but its auto box was stuck in a low gear so we never got its full potential.even at 4 years old i knew the car wasn't right (sluggish and noisey).as to your advice i think you are right. the only problem i have is i love my cars and don't know how to get rid of them,i have 4 at the moment clk320,clk430 a v12 w140 coupe and a peugeot 407 coupe.if i had a barn i could just s.o.r.n them and recommission them as i get older and they more valuable, but i only have a driveway.if i could learn how to part with them it would free up more space and money to go and try some new cars.xx
Linda Gray Wow you should post memoirs on a blog. Of how you obtained your Commercial Driver's License. These trucks you drove were they 18 wheelers? Also just curious did you ever enjoy the Stallone movie Over The Top.? That after watching it. You felt motivated to arm wrestle every female truck driver that dared to challenge you? It would be nice to read about all the best Diners you visited when traveling for 4 days. And you felt weary and hungry at the nearest rest stop. I'm certain the food at a few of those diners were amazing. But the conversations were some of the most memorable. Please if you have a Blog. I would like to read about your most wonderful memories.
@@Another-U-Tube-User I guess what I meant was, ford preferred high pressure headlight washers in the early 80s. Didn’t know they used wipers before the Sierra.
Meeeega! Man, Fords really used to build obscenely good looking cars. Granada I & II, P5, P7, "Knudsen" Taunus, Escort I, Capri, Cortina Mk II. If I had the money I'd build myself, something that Ford never did, though: A Mk 1 Escort Turnier (estate) with a tweaked RS2000 drivetrain, bi-colour 4-spoke RS wheels, custom RS livery in matte-gold on black (JPS style). Oh, and I'd take a Mako V8 implanted MkI Granny like this one for the more relaxing trips, please.
As far as I know it is originally black. But it had a complete paint strip in restauration. See this link for the restauration process (5 years): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-15sHUoWV8Sk.html
This one sold way under the cost of restoration. Although of course for a 5 digit price. But in respect to the owner I can not publish the price for this model.
Really nice looking car. But I agree on that steering Wheel look tacky on it but are those 3.0 emblems on the fenders correct? I guess this must be a late one 1972-74 didnt have them. As I remember didn´t Ghia´s have a compartment between the front seats? Or was that just a Swedish spec for Ghia and option on others? We used to have a 72 estate 2.3 the first imported to Sweden, not alive unfortunatly and not my Consul Coupe -73 either.... :(
This vehicle was restored by a Ford dealer to have in the showroom. But when they got rid of the company, they sold the vehicle. Hence I do believe that everything is made as original by the dealer. Steering wheel is also original from 3.0 Ghia. This vehicle was first registered in January 1977. But I do think it is a 1975 model year reading the VIN-no. All parts are original.
Hi.... What is the radio model and the piece that carries the controls for the radio?? That is very nice. I too have a MK1 and it is the best oldtimer I have ever owned!!
Far more practical too. I've never understood the American obsession with HUGE V8 iron block engines, that often produced less power than a 2 litre 4 pot, this side of the pond, but drank 4 times the fuel. And in a land where the maximum allowed speed was 55mph until relatively recently. Many of the World's outright fastest cars in each year through history, had efficient European 6 cylinder engines. Even the humble original 848cc Mini (not Cooper) produced 40bhp and 52lb/ft per litre in 1959, which was way ahead of 1970s and many 80s American V8s. I think dirt cheap gas, really held back lazy developers in the USA, that though cubic inches were the answer to everything.
@@matthewjenkins1161 I agree. Size wise, I like our Granada, but why a 5.0 litre V8 engine? I would think either a V6 engine, or a straight 6 would've been perfect.
@@jasoncarpp7742 Straight 6s are great in terms of smooth delivery due to perfect primary and secondary mechanical balance. V12s retain those characteristics, making them the ultimate I think, when outright power is the goal. V8s have neither the power potential of a V12, or the beautiful balance of a straight 6. The big engine option for the Mk1 Granada was the 3 litre Essex V6 in the UK, or the 2.8 Cologne V6 in German built cars. European model Fords built in South Africa often had big American Ford Windsor V8s in.
I had a 3.0 ltr Roman Bronze one back in 1985, mine had a rare manual gearbox and it had a beige vinyl roof that really made it look good. Sold it in 1989 to a guy who wanted to use it in banger racing ? What a fucking waste
A model of car well worth restoring must be very comfortable to travel in on motorways, autobahns and highways. A real mile eater and the good old sunroof too, boot must be massive. Prefer Gold or Brown with cream roof myself.
Really crazy beautyfull car! That must be love! I'm really intersted how this car can be or become in such s beautyfull and perfect condition! Seems that he never smells or see water on his body. Otherwise i can not recognize how this condition can be reached. Then the bad side of this car is that he sucks a lot of petrol, and the body corrodes very fast. Especially the bottom of the chassis and the wheel corners. My father had four of it, but the MK2 series. Every time sell it because of bad shell and bottom condition (not good enough for the laws proof plaquette). Two of them has the legendary V6 engine under his hood as 2.3 GL with 114 HP and consums 12-18 Liters Super 95. :-) That was for me as driving beginner in that time big battle ships with many swell in courves! :-)
Is it? sorry to say that but just didn't look right to me for some reason. I think i'm thinking of the two spoke wheel. car is obviously top notch though!
I know what you mean. I have a 1977 MK1 Ghia with its original steering wheel. I Tried one of the sports wheels and it looked so out of place. OK in an Escort but not a Granny :)
