Mira (2022) - Asteroid Scene 

That 8 minutes was better than the last 7 Marvel movies.

For those of you complaining about no subtitles, allow me to translate: “Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit”

This is legitimately one of the greatest “continuous shot” sequences I’ve ever seen…and I’ve watched a ton of movies. This rivals 1917 and Birdman.

Hey! Russian guy here to give you some context on the scene: The girl is named Lera, her father works at a space station (the man in the beginning who told her to look out the window), the boy with the mechanical arm is her best friend Misha, the elder people are some strangers who decided to help the unconscious girl out. If you want to see the movie - here is the concept (without too much spoilers): as I said earlier, Lera's father works at a space station, which has some high-tech gear to help the workers out (which conveniently lets the father spy on Lera and remotely hack into any machines to make sure she was safe). Then the catastrophe happens, which also breaks the space station, leaving the father the only person alive. Instead of evacuating, he decided to help his daughter out with everything he can to guide and protect her. Overall, I liked the movie. 8/10

This “one shot” is amazing. Some of my favorite types of shots in film. There tons of hidden cuts in this sequence, but holy shit, it was done so well. Hats off to the film makers on this one.

That camera man got stamina though

The special effect is top notch, and the editing is so elaborate that the entire 8 minutes looks like one long take shot

Some people will complain that it's "stitched" together to resemble a one take scene but a lot of effort goes into it to make it look somewhat seamless.

The entire one shot of this scene is amazing. This feels like a war movie.

Whoever wrote that is a genius. The acting, special effects and film editing are first rate. The cinematography makes you feel like you're about to be crushed by a falling rock. Wow!

No music whatsoever. Just straight screaming and the sound of the city being bombarded by meteorites.

i don't speak a word of Russian but the cinematography, CGI and sound design are excellent.

I haven't yelled at a movie for a character to "MOVE MOVE! GET UP! GET OUT OF THE WAY! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!" in a long while. Great scene!

By far the best and most immersive POV movie I'v ever watched. Usually I like the fast-paced cuts, but this movie didn't need any cut at all.

I have huge admiration for the makers of this film and the actors! It's extraordinarily life-like. This is the best apocalyptic movie sequence I've ever seen. You Russians are amazing at this lol!

This is SOOO FCKIN good. Why have I never seen this before?

I'm worried about some of you in the comments. Like you didn't even realize what you just saw. Has nothing to do with what's going on In the movie. It's that the Scene never made a cut. The camera man stayed on her for a very long time and (even tho they were using green screen and It could of possibly been Edited to seem that way) its a very Tough thing to do. Lots of good movies do these types of scenes. The most impressive ones are the scenes that don't use green screens and film in a real location with practical effects. If you like these kind of scenes where the camera doesn't cut for long amounts of time. Check the The Children of Men Scene.

This is really well done, at least in comparison to "2012" and other Hollywood versions. I appreciate the acting and also the humanity that is shown. In 2012 the humans are just crazed, terrorized, inhuman zombies except for the main character and his family. Hollywood tries to completely abolish whatever is left of our morality.

This is way better done than most of the American disaster movies, where planes fly trough streets, turning corners, cars flay above exploding craters and other BS. Love to see this film!

After all this, I have only one question...... Did They just run to the elevator during a meteor shower?

Incredible one-shot scene, very realistic. Russian are reallly good at action scenes.

The cinematography and angles had me forget how long it was and despite being not English....the facial expressions and tone of voice had me absolutely hooked!

I like the POV or found footage style whatever you call it of this whole scene it makes you feel like you're the one experiencing the whole thing that's happening on this scene. This is top tier no doubt

The switch from the handheld camera to a camera attached the actress was like a magic trick. Really good direction and effects.

I was a fan US made sci fi movies but the moment i saw Russian sci fi movies i am Fully shocked and superbly impressed with their production quality with those budgets 😮

It didn't even matter that i don't know what they were saying, i was hooked from the get go. That's some really good movie making.

Some really impressive effects in this. Not just the CGI, the shots from inside the car were very well done. Also those old people are geniuses. You want to survive a disaster movie, then kidnap the main character.

Going to try and see where I can watch this movie, it looks pretty good! Russian, American, Chinese, it doesnt matter. I wish people with different ideas and cultures would just create things to benefit the human race instead of killing each other. Even if its just movies. We all came from star dust so we are all brothers and sisters. I dont understand the world :(

I am a disaster movie addict. I've seen so many English language ones, some more than once, that I finally started watching foreign language shows too, so I could see some that I hadn't seen before. I've watched shows from around a dozen different countries, whose languages aren't known to me, but I am almost always able to follow what is going on. I also found that I like the challenge of doing this.😃 Thanks for posting this clip. I haven't seen this movie before, and after seeing this clip, I want to watch it. I will make note of thename and year, and try to find a free site that has it.

This movie captures the sheer panic and human instinct during a one-in-a-lifetime catastrophe, and the catastrophe was portrayed as somewhat plausible too. It's better than most Hollywood catastrophe movies.

That's a pretty fvckin good scene. The cinematography is amazing. That whole car sequence is fantastic nod to similar "one take" scenes from "Children Of Men" and "War Of The Worlds".

Decades since the original "Earthquake" starring Charlton Heston and people are STILL insisting on cramming into elevators during a disaster and being surprised when they are dropped to their deaths.
