Mirage Hotel & Casino closing date announced 

The guitar building is so lame and who cares about the Hard Rock brand anymore?

After going to this casino for over 30yrs. I would have never thought this day would happen. Thank you Mirage for all the good times we had.

Too bad all the new hotels and casinos in Vegas now are dull as hell.

This Sucks!!!!!!!!!!! Everything stinks today!

I was thinking this was going to be another complete demolition. I understand the statement that Las Vegas thrives with change but the decades of nostalgia and familiarity has its place too.

The palm trees, and water features will be missed.

Should have chosen to close circus circus and put the hard rock where circus circus is

And when the next economic recession hit, all construction comes to a halt, just like the last time!

First there’s Tropicana, but now Mirage has to go?!, will miss the volcano

So, close an iconic Las Vegas hotel and build a copy of one from Florida. Wealthy Las Vegas casino owners DO NOT get that casinos have now spread through out the nation and world, so they need to make Las Vegas unique so that people still visit.

Im reading this as im waking up in the Mirage hotel room.

I was in Las Vegas New Years 1990, Mirage had just opened the Mirage was the place to be. I remember at midnight everyone came out of the casinos onto the strip, cars could not move as people took over, with cocktails in hand. Great memories of Las Vegas back then.

I can guarantee you that the Mirage with the Volcano shows nightly, were a +++++ to Vegas's tourism, absolutely no one would skip the evening show! I visit when I can afford another vacation and I make sure that volcano show is one of my MUST SEE before heading home.

They could have bought the Circus Circus and put the guitar there. A win win....get rid if the Circu Circus and build a band new casino in its place. Why destroy the Mirage...it makes no sense.

I am sad being born n raised here n watching the dunes getting imploded it literally took away the nostalgia from our city. My parents moved here from the east Coast in the fifties when there only about fifty thousand ppl here cut to today there are 2.2 million is mind-blowing i miss the good old days.

Going from elegant to trashy. Vegas is changing, to be like everyone else.

The palm trees and other plants in the atrium are amazing. Hope they keep them and the volcano.

My wife and I stayed there the night we were married in Vegas, ‘95. Sad it’s being replaced.

It is sad. Was my favorite place, location on the strip, tropical pool with the waterfall. Knowing friendly wait staff at the Paradise cafe and the Pantry. Many great memories and experiences. (Even the drama of the shooting and having to go back into the parkade and stay there for hours till it was deemed safe to go to our rooms.) I know there are other big and new resorts on the strip, but my friends and I enjoyed it as a getaway. Usually a week. For rest and relax by the pool. The close accessibities to shows and some gambling. I hope that hard rock will keep the tropical style pool and Oasis feel like their resort in Florida. Sympathies to the workers, hope they find positions in the new hard rock with a good and rewarding work environment/employer. Will miss the Mirage name to. Hard Rock ,ugh, Now its finding a hotel and vibe that's similar.

And that new casino will close too watch what I say im on the strip alot and i see all these casinos damn near empty u can count the people on one hand

I thought this Hotel & Casino was already closed as of end of last year. I was in there 7 months ago and said good bye to it!

Its soo stupid to get rid of a place that had few problems when the hard rock closed already once in vegas now a 2nd hard rock vegas is expected to not close again???

This is sad and such a bad idea. Every new hotel build in Vegas has had construction delays and issues in funding. There is a huge possibility that a year or two into the construction-that they will run out of money and the project will be on hold. Secondly-the “new” Vegas hotels that the dude being interviewed here keeps talking about are all doing terrible. Resortsworld is a sterile money losing business. Fontainebleau is also a loser. Neither of these “new” hotels have made Vegas better. They should just put money into the Mirage and renovate it little by little. The bones/structure and grounds of the Mirage are fine-they could just use a refresh. A complete tear down is completely unnecessary.

3 years??? So they better demolish the building and create all new rooms with bigger bathrooms, not just remodel and put up a stupid guitar. The pool at mirage was in the top 3 as far as how it was landscaped and hard rock has a history of having very boring vdara type pools,

I wish they would have taken Circus Circus and left the Mirage alone. It is my favorite on the strip. I don't care for the Hard Rock Brand. Anytime I have used their facilities has been mediocre at best. Peace out Mirage, I have great memories there.
