Hyderabadi Mirchi Ka Salan - Green Hot Chilli Pepper Curry (Restaurant Style) from Maimoona Yasmeen Recipes.

Ingredients:
Sesame seeds: 1 cup
Peanuts : 3/4th cup
Dry Coconut(sliced) : 1 cup
Cumin seeds : 1 tablespoon+ 2 teaspoons
Coriander seeds : 1 tablespoon
Black seeds(kalaunji) : 1/4th teaspoon
Fenugreek seeds(methi seeds) : 1/4th teaspoon
Onions(medium size)- 2 chopped
Whipped curd : 2 cups
Mustard seeds: 1 teaspoon
Salt: 2 teaspoons
Ginger garlic paste: 1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder: 1 teaspoon
Cooking oil : 1 tablespoon + 5 tablespoons
Procedure:
1.Into a cooking sauce pan, roast sliced dry coconut, peanuts, sesame seeds, one tablespoon cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fenugreek seeds, black seeds or kalaunji and chopped onions separately.
2.Peel the skin of peanuts and grind all the above roasted ingredients into a fine paste and keep it aside.
3.Slit ten green hot chilli peppers or moti mirch vertically without de-seeding.
4.Saute the green hot chilli peppers using one tablespoon of oil. Saute for 2 minutes to prevent de-seeding. Keep these sauted peppers aside.
5.Add five tablespoons of cooking oil into the cooking pan. When the oil is hot, add 2 teaspoons cumin seeds. When they turn brown, add mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
6.Add one tablespoon ginger garlic paste. Stir till it turns brown. Add the ground paste of roasted coconuts, peanuts, sesame seeds, onions, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, black seeds and fenugreek seeds.
7.Add whipped curd and close the lid. Cook on medium flame for approximately 15 minutes till the water gets dry and the gravy leaves the oil. Keep stirring in between while closing the lid as this paste has a tendency to splutter.
8.Add ½ cup of water and sauted green peppers. These seeded green hot peppers will add spice to the curry.
9.Add curry leaves, chopped coriander and juice of half lemon. Close the lid and simmer for 15 minutes.

I just made this...and it is DELICIOUS!! Thank you so much for uploading this. I used thick Greek yoghurt & cooked in a deep stockpot to catch the splatters. I needn't have bothered. Greek yoghurt reduces the cooking time and there's no splattering. Excellent stuff. Thanks again!

Walaikum assalam, this is a green coloured Mirchi Ka Salan, served at Restaurants or Marriage Functions. Addition of tamarind will give it a brown colour, therefore, curd is added instead of tamarind. In Hyderabadi Style Mirchi ka Salan made on regular basis at homes, tamarind is added instead of curd.

amazing recipe, , never made this way before but I followed this recipe n made it yesterday it was delicious, the only thing I altered was I used tamarind juice instead of lemon n added green chilli paste as their was no red chilli in the recipe...all in all very yummy recipe I got rave reviews from my guests as well, they praised this curry more than my biryani...lol

Assalam alaikum, yes, you can use brinjal but add red chilli powder as per your taste. In this recipe, green peppers add to the spice, therefore, I did not add red chilli powder.

+faa moor Wsklm, sour curries have longer shelf life. You can store this in the refrigerator however curries with tamarind and lemon as medium of sourness last longer (Sometimes curd used is sweet).

Oh! Try and add whole tomatoes (washed) and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, they will soak the spices too. Do not slice tomatoes and add, this will add to the sourness.

Assalam alaikum dear Nazneen. Rai se kadwa pan ho sakta agar zyada istemaal ki gayi ho tab. Masalon mein methi dane se bi ho sakta hai. Aap agli baar, methi dana aur kalonji skip kar dein. Agar pyaaz jal jaaye, tab bhi kadwa pan aa sakta hai.
