This fight took place April 28, 2002 and was very early into Cro Cop's career. Silva was top Dog at this time, Cro Cop and Fedor were still young in their careers but this was Prime Vanderlei!
@@CarlosDavidbjjdoesnt matter, wanderlei took Cro cop down many times but Cro cops defense on the ground was very good. There was only one Takedown from Cro Cop but because he favors Standup.
You are joking right? This is a Middleweight x Heavyweight fight and still wanderlei managed to win in every way possible. This “inexperienced fighter” argument is very risky, because it can backfire. I could argue that Wanderlei lost their 2nd fight just because Mirko was in his peak and Wanderlei had already 39 professional MMA fights suffering 2 TKO’s and, therefore, was not the same anymore. But of course I wouldn’t use that as an argument because it would be pretty cheap. So let’s not make excuses and admit that Wanderlei did beat Mirko in the 1st fight and that Mirko beat Wanderlei in the 2nd, fair and square both times.
@indianna.777 Your analysis on their 2nd fight is exactly what happened bro, Wanderlei was getting old and coming off his first loss in years to Arona, which he would avenge but Silva was not in his Prime vs Cro Cop 2 and Cro Cop most definitely was in his at this time in 06, After this fight Silva would bounce back back but Ultimately lose against a man he had 20 pounds on in Matt " Hendo " Henderson who was 185' soaking wet at that time and fought Heavyweights on the regular, so this argument " o Cro Cop was a Heavyweight and bigger than Wanderlei blah blah " bro Pride had fights like that on the Regular as they had " Openweight " Tournaments for years, it was until the last like 03' or so did Pride actually have weight classes and Weight Class Tournaments ( there weight limits were wayyy different than UFC , 10 Lbs separated nothing ) BUT they still held the " Open Weight Grand Prix " and even though a title wasn't always won unless the Champ was literally in the Finals, that was still a Prestigous Acalade
Wanderlei é muito monstro, total respeito por esse lutador que fez historia vitoriosa no pride, e ainda aceitou lutar com uma maquina mais pesada do que ele o Mirko é peso pesado outra categoria
Crazy how Silva kicked where he thought Cropcop would be if he tried to get up and not at him while on the ground. High IQ by both fighters...that welt on Silvas ribs in the 3rd was sick.
@@jonstiffer4994 Pride had more steroids than every fighter in the ufc combined. This guy is a Jon Jones fanboy, and kinda a dick for bringing it up, but bringing up roids for Pride is kinda dumb.
The skill level was lower, and the balls on these guys was unmatched. Every fight was a brawl, and it was all the better for the fans. Pride was such a good time, Fedor's run is the stuff of legends.
Silva fought against one of the greatest kick boxers of k1 and had the balls to enchange a little bit. In terms of conquering glory, Wanderlei Silva should be consider as one of the greatest fighters of all time
If there had been judges , Wanderlei would have won for sure. I do not know how much time had passed before the 2nd match....but it must have been years I would think. I did not watch MMA and UFC back in the early days...but these 2 were beasts. Cro Cop looked much better in 2nd fight. My son watched back then, and Wanderlei is his all time favorite !!! Two legends indeed !!!!!
Wanderlei would lost if there had been judges. Pride was not wrestling money show like corrupted UFC, what counted most was damage done. Crocop did more damage. This is why Crocop concentrated only at throwing his kicks.
@@banjiman9869 how do you know he was holding back did he tell you that or did you read his mind why would he even hold back when that fight was clearly one sided in favor of Wanderlei lol
Wanderley mostro ! Se tivesse mais jiujitsu seria imbatível nessa época . Mirko era o lutador de um golpe só ! Chute lateral na cabeça e costela além de aguentar muita porrada .
@@ignisimber2818 If you want to know how devasting leg kicks can be, do some search and watch some of Cung Le kicks especially the one where he broke Frank Shamrock arm....if cro cop were to train with Cung Le 😂....terrifying or not?
There could be 1st round highlights or 2nd round highlights or last round highlights. There's 1st half highlights and 2nd half highlights with sports videos. Wtf are you talking about? Are you new to the RU-vids?
It's the 2nd fight 4+ years later where Cro Cop dominated, that's the one most people remember because Cro Cop won the Grand Prix that year. This fight was 2002 and very early in Cro Cop's career. By the 2nd fight was Cro Cops PRIME and a older Silva
Grand Prix Tournament style in Pride and their roster was so packed with talent , Silva, Fedor, Sakuraba, Ricardo Arona, Rampage Jackson, Dan Henderson, Minotauro Nogueira, Rogerio Nogueira, Cro Cop, Fujita, Don Frye, Mark Coleman, Mark Kerr, Guy Metzger, Mark Hunt, Kevin Randleman, Alistair Overeem and More!......you can see how with Tournament style, it took 3 years for the rematch
