Mirra should have won in the first set, but emotions let her down. It's forgivable for a 17-year-old in her first final WTA. She's a true warrior and winner. I'll be watching her career.

People are actually predicting Mirra will win Grand Slams!? I guess that's the usual short-attention span nature of people today - a player achieves a modicum of success and everyone's all aboard the hype-train. Well, I prefer to take a more tempered, realistic approach to things and not buy into any hype. What's her Slam record? Zero. That's right, so the overwhelming tendency is for things to stay as they are; a girl with zero Slams is likely to remain at zero Slams until the end of her career. She's not that young, let's not forget and has a game built around retrieving since she has no weapons. Furthermore, her body is not built for retrieving so her fundamental strategy is at odds with her anatomy. I think Mirra will end her career with no Masters, and zero Slams, and I can't believe I seem to be the one of the only people sensible enough not to buy into the mindless hy

Allez Mirra ! 😊

The first of many titles for this highly talented Russian 17yo, she has lived up to the hype but this was a moderate 250 in terms of overall depth of the field and she would have walked away highly dissapointed if she didnt take this title. There is a large talent base of young Russian & Czechia players emerging that will seriously challenge her over the next few years as they push their way up the ranking but have no doubt Mirra is highly talented and looks likely to win majors, especially on Clay!

It's the conditions more than anything. Extreme humidity on slow clay is tough to deal with, a young player like Andreeva, no matter how talented just doesn't have the power yet to hit through heavy conditions, her game is a lot quicker and more powerful in lively, warm conditions.
@hertor8803
@hertor8803 Месяц назад
@@wangster7681Completely agree. That's why I mentioned the surface. There are very few WTA players that have the power to play through slow clay like this so I think the WTA needs to try and avoid these surfaces as much as they can or ensure the clay is as fast as possible because those rallies don't look good. They make the women's game look a bit amateurish which of course it isn't. People are always (unfairly) comparing the women's game to the men which is why I think the WTA need to do all they can to make their product look as good as possible.
