Nowadays, the question on everyone's mind is, "Mirrorless or DSLR?" This is a never-ending debate, as many professional photographers still prefer DSLRs, whereas mirrorless cameras are now dominating the industry. If we look at the current market, mirrorless cameras are everywhere, and the DSLR market is constantly declining. So, we've looked at all the facts, weighed the pros and cons, and came to a conclusion. With advanced technology, faster autofocus, built-in image stabilization, real-time preview, and silent operation, mirrorless cameras are the clear winner. But don't just take our word for it; wait till the end to decide for yourself!

the lenses are so far overpriced its not worth getting into photography anymore--- a bloody lens is dearer than a car

I have 3 cameras. The Canon SL2 (a DSLR that also shoots mirrorless), an EOS-M that I took to Maui a couple years ago and a M6 mark II that will be going to the Caribbean in 2025. I use mostly EF lenses on all. My photos turn out just fine. Canon is not getting me to switch to RF stuff.

Mirrorless is nothing new - even the old coolpix series of Nikons were mirrorless, but for some reason I always enjoyed the solid thunk of the mirror and mechanical shutter. And I have students today that still prefer the old film cameras, with the interchangeable ground glass and waist level conversion finders. Something for everyone !

For the record the Nikon D850 still holds the best sensor built by Nikon, unless the DXO site is kidding sensor tests; the feeling of shooting with an optical viewfinder is much superior and I am speaking with knowledge of the facts, I have already tested the z9 and honestly for photographs I prefer the D850; the lighter camera weight argument has also fallen by the wayside, mirrorless camera batteries still make a photographer walk loaded with 3 or 4 of them; the F lenses are very good and you can always get them cheaper, unlike the Z lenses which cost a lot of money. By the way, I ordered another D850 yesterday, as mine already has a lot of shots and I'm afraid Nikon will remember to discontinue DSLRs, so I'm cautious.

A controversial prediction. As Mirrorless camera took over DSLR so will Smartphone do in a decade to mirrorless. This will happen when we will be able to finely simulate optical properties of lens using ML/Ai & develop an advanced sensor tech that can produce equal dynamic range and low noise in High ISO mode just like present mirrorless. Innovation in smart consumer camera tech is 10X faster than current professional mirrorless cameras and with so much processing power advanced algorithm will do just fine. Selling new phones every year and generating revenue through ads & services on device is far more profitable than selling a single piece of camera gear. Brands need profit so they can eventually force the industry to move in that direction when such advanced technology will be available. Sad :(

While I don’t disagree that this is a possible outcome at some point. I think we’re a lot further away from this scenario than we realize. There are several videos on RU-vid comparing smartphone photos to a dedicated camera with a real lens and there’s really no comparison. Dedicated cameras are still WAY ahead of smartphone tech and I suspect this will be the case for quite some time… having said that, the real danger is that only camera nerds care enough about the difference while most normal casual photographers will just go with the phone…

@@relaxingsounds5469 yeah lol smartphone cameras are good but no comparison, even one inch sensor cameras are superior to phones because of the difference in dynamic range and depth of field

@@eesafredericks2122 yup as a photographer i always try to explain to people that the depth of feild on cellphone cameras is no comparison to a Mirrorless camera.

That's just not true. Aside from the other reasons commented by others, there is a significant difference in glass quality in a smartphone and a big lens. You can't shoot wildlife without a really big lens and the differences in image and file quality is ridiculous.

Mirrorless/DSLR are tools. Phone cameras are a convenience. As such, in the professional environment, it will never replace a proper DSLR/Mirrorless camera. The consumer market is where the phone shines though

This is a debate to be noted. Till now for the last 8 or 9 months no one has come to any conclusion as to which camera is better. I liked this video, also I am new to DSLR camera.

I am trying to figure out which to get a DSLR or a mirrorless. Of course the camera shop says a mirrorless because the DSLR is being fazed out. Still undecided, I believe if I get a DSLR I can pick up lens and everything cheaper if everyone is switching to mirrorless

Thank you for the video. My name is DSLR forever. And Pentax is there for us when need be. So, DLSRs aren't quitting the market. BTW, the mirrored cameras are superior in some very important areas. We shoot subjects with the help of lag-free OVF instantly. That is, we capture exactly what we see at any given moment. On the other hand; no mirrorless camera captures exactly what it sees at that moment. Because EVF is always behind no matter what latest model is used. Therefore, mirrorless camera is unfit for speed photography.

The truth is that af lenses were expensive on film cameras i1980s and 1990s But now mirror less lenses are extortionate So it all depends on. What you can afford BUT nor what some marketing guru leads you to think

I'll never buy another Panasonic camera again. The actual experience does not match their claims , eg sharpness and noise are poor at high iso, macro and super macro are poor.

Incorrect regardig AF. Mirrorless cameras use on sensor phase and contrast detect nowadays. Contrast detect alone is slow and jumpy generally. This guy sounds like he's too young to remember DSLRs and is used to looking at screens to take photos.

Makes no sense. An OVF will only show avaliable light. An EVF can simulate exposure creating a brighter viewfinder in darker enviroments.
