Perhaps sounds like a silly question. If you unplug the device and then plug it back in does it remember the thermostat information etc. I would like to put it in a "smart plug" that turns on when motion is detected as the times people are in the office is unpredictable. Any info appreciated.

How big is the room that your IR heater is in? I’m looking at buying one for my 7 meter cubed office. Would it heat up the room comfortably? Cheers

Great solution for heat in the lab. As for heat pumps have a look at octopus new heat pumps as they have very good cop plus much higher temps that should mean you can use existing rads and pipework + octopus Cosy tariff. The problem with solar is you get most electricity in summer when you don't need heat! Alternatively the split aircon/heat units have reasonable cop but also keep you cool in summer.

Solar panels in the UK are not a great solution, but batteries and inverters work well if you charge them on a super low off peak tarriff and use solar to top them up when the sun dares to pop it's head out. Everyone I know who has a heat pump installed complains their house is too cold in the winter. I think they probably work well in a new house that's built to be very efficient, but for older houses it doesn't seem a great fit.

@@WhirlyBlokeWe had solar + battery installed in Feb last year and I am very pleased with it - almost zero energy bills (inc covering our gas heating costs). The new Octopus heat pumps are supposed to be so much better as they produce a much higher temp and still have decent cop but over time they will get better and better.... Older houses do require much more heat as they lose so much - ours is early 1900's and does take a fair bit to heat.

You have a bit of hiss on your mic audio, try getting the mic closer to your mouth or run a noise reduction on the audio.. Does it make the monitors hot on the back? Are you not getting a cold "shadow"? I'm interested in these for personal heating rather than heating the whole house for one person...
