Misfire diagnosis using a new technique

Now, I have had good success using this technique on fuel systems similar to this, with the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. But in Staten Island, while discussing this with everyone else there, I decided to try this technique with Cuba (Cuba's auto, check her out on youtube). And the waveform we got from the subaru wasn't what we expected it to be.
So I just want to warn that there are variables to this test, and that it isn't perfect. But it still gives an example of how a pressure transducer can be used in unusual ways.
Try it out one day for yourself, and let me know your results because I'd like to know which style fuel systems this techniques work with, and which it doesn't.

I can appreciate your video to help out new transducer users. This test is actually very old. make yourself up a shorter hose setup and try with a very short hose as possible and see the difference, there are pros and cons depending on the purpose of the test. Imagine older vehicles where the MAP sensor was mounted to the firewall and had a vacuum hose going to it, now MAP sensors are mounted directly to the manifold, this is the reasoning I am referring to with hose length and vacuum/pressure wave speed and smoothing/muffling/reverberating/feedback actions inside the hose of longer length. Thanks for the video.

Great job PJ. Very clear explanation and gives a great jumping off point to experiment more with this technique and figure out the variables based on the system design. I'm looking forward to more WPS usage videos 👍🏻

Most definitely Chris. May not be definitive using the pulse sensor solely, and I know some vehicles will be more definitive than others using the pulse sensor. I hoping through this video, we can discuss variables and when it's best to use it in this application.

@VoltageDropDiagnostics

I have a couple questions for you. 1. Do you think the Diagon is worth it for a dealer tech with my own tech stream lite? 2. What do you suggest for terminal removal tools?
@VoltageDropDiagnostics
@VoltageDropDiagnostics 4 года назад
hmm. That's a tough question. Do most dealer techs need the diagun? Probably not. I do a lot of diag not just on toyotas, but also non toyotas. So I use it pretty regularly. Plus, it is wireless, so I use it over techstream anytime I am under the hood, or underneath the vehicle doing active tests with it. With that said. Is it "NEEDED" for a dealer tech? For most, no. As far as terminal removal tools. I honestly, usually just use a tiny T pin lol. So I don't have much experience with many on the market and I don't want to steer you towards a bad purchase.

I just have a question...Is it possible to clean the fuel injector without being removed with some fuel injector cleaner. Which would be a good brand to buy.? In case the problem are the injectors. @VoltageDropDiagnostics
@VoltageDropDiagnostics 4 года назад
There are companies that sell fuel injector cleaners that you add to your fuel. A lot of people swear by BG 44k but i can’t comment on how well it does, or doesn’t work. I do know that i haven’t been able to clean an injector that already has low flow, to make it flow as good as new.
