Darth Vader never said "Luke, I'm your father." The conversation goes like this: "If you only knew the power of the Dark Side. Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father." "He told me enough! He told me you killed him!" "No. I am your father." I thought she would mention this.

What about "Luke, I am your father" , that is often misquoted. It was: "Obi Wan never told you what happened to your father." "He told me enough. He told me you killed him" No, I am your father."

I couldn't help thinking that "slightly incorrect" quotations from Jaws and Star Trek can be actually called totally correct ones, linguistically speaking, because they didn't change the meaning of phrases at all.If the meaning hasn't been touched, it doesn't really matter how words are placed within a quotation, I suppose. Nice episode, anyway. Thank you, Molly!

You forgot on of the biggest misquotes, Molly. In "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" by George Lucas, Darth Vader is often misquoted as saying "Luke, I am your father." Actually Vader says "No, I am your father.

Also, "The ends justify the means." - Niccolò Machiavelli is actually a mistranslation, with "One must consider the final result." a more accurate one. The correct translation appears to make more sense given my (albeit limited) knowledge of the renaissance, and its utilitarian approach to these matters. Thanks Molly!

The moon landing is so funny. Here's a guy who is the first human to step on the freakin' moon, yet that moment is overshadowed by whether or not he was speaking properly. If I had a time machine, I would go back to tell Neal to say "B*tches, I is on the freakin' MOON! I ain't gotta talk good!"

she got the message of the quote from field of dreams wrong. "if you build it he will come" did not mean shoeless Joe Jackson it meant his father at the end of the movie

Rocketboom is wrong on the beam me up Scotty quote It was said, word for word, in the animated series (which featured the same cast and gene roddenbury) Most people tend to overlook the animated series simply because it was animated, even though doing animation was thought to be a step better because they could make better aliens without being restricted by costume budget

"I can see Russia from my house." is really, "You can actually see Russia from parts of Alaska." The first one was Tina Fey doing an impression. The second was Sarah Palin to Katie Couric. Still a really stupid basis for having international experience. Sometimes it's hard to be a tard.
