Amy Dumas helped elevate women's wrestling. She was misused by being put into the "girlfriend" or "valet" role but she kept pushing to show what the women could really do in the ring. I admire her as an innovator in the women's wrestling world as someone who helped bring respect and validity to the women in a sport that has traditionally been ruled by "the boys." She is a survivor and someone who held on to thrive in the sport that she loved so much. It sucks the way she was dismissed as a "side piece" of eye candy in Edge's story because she deserves better than to be a part of someone else's story. She was a solid wrestler and an innovator in the realm of women's wrestling.

She was a badass wrestler but she didn’t do anything major to help women’s wrestling. Before her, there was Luna, Jaclyn, Terri Runnels, Chyna, and Ivory. Lita was known for being Matt’s gf and that’s why the crowd loved her. When she had the emotional affair, that was on her. Although it was unfair for her to get the worse treatment than edge, but hey Vince did it.
@nextjin

@@adriana4331 eh Lita was by far the best female wrestler imo in her era. Story lines are whatever are fed your way unless luck plays a role (Becky Lynch's nose break reaction being a prime example). I could have cared less about Matt Hardy, he had no relevance to her fandom. The problem with woman's wrestling back then was there was just not enough talent. Lita was so far ahead of the pack it was hard for her to get those special wrestlemania type moments. Trish was the only one capable of giving her a good match but she was still way above her league.

that's Vince's biggest problem. he seeks to earn money from you as if you were his property (if you were an object, not a living person).Lots of private life storylines were mostly cringe at the time and you felt like it was way off limits.The thing about lita's infidelity was something that she should have been responsible for (along with edge) and it did not improve that they have made it mega public and on top of it the gimmick lol (completely disrespectful both in the ring and in private life). Outside of that, Lita along with Jeff were an incredible duo, the biggest top of that unique goth / rock style, not the same old propaganda.If hardy hadn't had his demons, he would have easily outclassed Cena, Punk, even rock, by doing a before and after. just like Lita and Chyna, That they were the ones who really were outside the standard and not the propaganda that they always gave.pity that injuries and demons are not exempt from anyone

Lita was honestly the definition of a true performer, with the only blemish in her history being her construed as a side-piece to Edge. But, don't get it twisted; Lita's physical feats in the ring is STILL top-shelf, even when compared to the wrestlers-male or female-today. Both her and Trish survived the era of bra and panties, and paved the way to creating the women's division full of highly capable athletes and performers. Can never take that away from either one of them.

It's ridiculous and hypocritical that Edge basically walked away totally unscathed from the Matt and Lita thing, if anything, he gained popularity from it. Whereas Lita was shamed into retirement. Not saying what Lita did was right, but how come there's people still to this day who won't forgive her, and the same people love Edge.
@philwill0123

Plays into perception. Both should be 50/50 responsible (hell, edge was married as well as actively pursuing her). But on screen she was "having sex" with edge, and "pregnant" with kanes kid. That, and and exposed thong look she was projected as some kind of uber slut, while matt was a victim and edge was seen as a lucky man. I'm sure if we had social media from his first wife and publicly how she was feeling, public perception of edge would be horrible. Instead, he's lucky lita took the brunt. Saved his career.

at the end of the day all three should have been fired on the spot, just based on the grounds that there was animosity between matt and edge which could end up being bad publicity and or a liability if they decided to actually go out there and try to hurt each other. lets get this straight wwe didnt ruin lita, lita ruined lita. her actions and choices followed by public perception and the heat that come from the feud cratered any chance of her being a baby face again, Like EVER!! I'm not of this "progressive" ah the wahhhmen crap. bottom line wwe isnt your marriage counselor if your baggage prevents you from doing business then your ass needs to be canned. matt got fired due to whining online about personal issues. lita got punish by being edges sex object to reflect the issue that started all of the drama. edge is the only one who didnt get punished, i don't agree with that seeing as adam was the one person at most fault, cheating on his then wife with lita. but at the end of it all vince was right to put this childish shit front and center. 1. to draw as much money as possible from the grown ass adults who cant seem to leave their baggage at the door and do their job, and 2. to shame all three of them, showing the world of childish they were being. dont like to be publicly shamed for being childish then you should probably stop being childish.

WWE in 2000 to 2001 was such a different time and I think today's fans have no idea how much of a crowd favorite Lita was back then. She always get MASSIVE pop, featured in magazines and shows, her outfits every week are so cool and distinct, and was such a daredevil in the ring! It felt absolutely right that she was in that era where they allowed her to wrestle the men and was totally in her own element in terms of style and moveset (which I think there's more in her repertoire that we didn't see on live TV or she only got to do in the indies). Also, in terms of naming some of the best heels and I mean like people really genuinely hated at the time, Lita was THAT heel and only a handful can pull that off from being the most loveable babyface to the most ridiculed heel considering that she had to go through the bs, misogyny, double standards, and shaming from the company and the fans. Not everyone, man or woman, has the balls to move forth and turn lemons into lemonade the way Lita did during 05-07. Mad respect to Lita. You mentioned that she's a legend in women's wrestling history. I say, she's a legend in wrestling. Period.

For me the most impressive thing she ever did was pushing back against the T&A "diva" movement from the start. Before her final run as a heel, she flat out refused to indulge in any diva gravy bowl nonsense and instead agreed to have HHH & stone cold smash her in with steel chairs & get put through tables and take mens finishers. She did 1 Bra and panties and one bra and panties tag & wore a massive bra for both. Even the infamous live celebration only took place because vince said he would fire her if she didn't. Truly a pioneer for standing up for legit women's roles when there weren't any other people speaking out. Really alot of commendation to the hardys, dudleys, triple h, stone cold, edge and Christian & the radicals for supporting her so she could be in that position.

Those Lita pops, chants and cheers. Lita was getting bigger reactions than most of the roster. It was always a highlight to see her on the show. She inspired Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bayley, Liv Morgan, Paige, AJ Lee, Michelle McCool, Mickie James, Zelina Vega, Maryse, Maria, Beth Phoenix, Naomi, Nikko Bella, and tons more ... They try to gloss over it by saying the women's division was rebooted in 2001 with Trish, but we know the truth. It began again with Stephanie holding the title hostage and Lita defeating her in the main even of Raw with Rock as referee. Granted they didn't get full storylines, but there were constant women's title matches against Jackie, Ivory, and Trish and the women were being paired with tag teams like RTC, APA, and the Dudleyz so they could fight Team Xtreme; I always feel Lita had alot to do with that. Opened the doors for the other women to showcase their talents and she clearly had no issues losing the title and her matches constantly. Lita did so much and she barely gets credit for it.

The Kane stuff? Yeah. At least it was "entertaining". The Live "celebration"- the show is called RAW for a reason. Still amazing they pulled that off. Imagine wcw trying to do that & failing miserably. Trish hasn't aged well lol. Glad to know that she is in the HOF. Do you see a man with Charlotte or Becky? NO! Lita was and always will be my favorite woman's wrestler. She came from a punk rock background and brought that somewhat into the ring with her when she join The Hardy Boys. She's sexy and she knows how to wrestle just like the men do. Much Respect I will always give to Lita!

I lived in Fayetteville NC for 17 years during the big time of Team Extreme. I was at Finish Line in the Cross Creek Mall and Matt Hardy and Lita walked in to do some shopping. I said Hey to Lita and she looked at me and said Whats up??? It's was very cool. Jeff, Matt and Lita only lived 20ish miles from the Ft. Bragg area. It was a cool moment.

Lita is one of the best in WWE history and present. Her style is different, a retirement match will have to be Becky Lynch VS Lita in the future which in my opinion should be soon. One of the greatest womens wrestler that ever existed. I didn't like her teaming with Edge because she was an amazing talent in singles division at the time.

No mention of the Lita vs Jacqueline extreme rules match. Where Jacqueline sprayed Lita with a fire extinguisher as she did a moonsault off the hood of a truck. And took the victory.

She's always been my favorite wrestler ever since I saw her on WCW. I loved her name "Miss Conginglality" That showed me she had a true loving heart. When I heard she helps animals in shelters I realize she's my idol. When I heard about her relationship with Matt Hardy my dad started to like her. When he broke up with her it mad me crazy. Then she dated Christian which was a little odd but when she found out he used her I cheered for her for kicking his hypothetical ass. Then comes Kane who forces her to be with him and knocks her up and makes her life miserable. When she lost her baby I felt sorry for her then I read she and Edge started dating while she was still married to Kane I felt happy seeing these together was gold. She and Edge were great together but when she retired they broke up and became friends. I still idolize her as the woman who changed women in the WWE forever.

WWE did Lita sorry towards the end of her run. The Attitude Era was not the best to women. I am glad they have done right by her in recent years. She's such a talented wrestler, and can still hang with the current gen of women. When they allowed her to introduce the new women's titles, it was a good way to erase the way she had retired.

A lot of Lita's stories make me think that we do not want the Attitude Era again. Most wrestling fans think back highly to that era since we were teenagers and didn't know better. But all my love to Lita, she was just a badass and I remember trying to find a shirt from her but it wasn't possible in my country :)

@Andrew Hager I never said Lita was innocent but they treated her mad dirty towards the end of her career. Her whole storyline with Kane was disgusting. They made it 1000x times worse than it was and nobody bore the brunt of that more than her and its because she was a woman.

Lita and the Hardyz were a match made in Heaven, man. No one was cooler than them, NO ONE. Remember when all 3 of them piled on, who was it, Taker? To secure that pin lmao so fkn great, what a bond. They always had amazing chemistry & I wish so badly she was still part of them. Her band, Luchagors, is on Spotify. They are actually pretty good! The album artwork is cool too. She looked awesome with the black hair! Even still, that blood red mane bouncing around weightlessly while she jumped and dove all over the ring was cool as hell. Her red hair and her cool, neon fishnets n stuff made her unique style even more fun to watch. She was the most important & influential female role model I had, growing up. Her and Chyna. What really spoke to me about them as a kid was that they were strong, fierce and fearless. They'd take the risks. They'd even square off with dudes fearlessly. Made me feel like I could run with the big dogs if I could be strong and confident like them, even being a girl. Its cool as hell she was a roadie at one point lol. I was a roadie in my early 20s too. I can totally see that for her. 😂 i didnt know she played bass so that was cool to learn too! God Bless Lita, the best Women's Champion of all time

Even with the whole affair thing that happened I always remained a fan to Lita I got to meet her before she is a sweet woman people make mistakes or make bad decisions sometimes that might make other people unhappy but at the end of the day I might not have liked the affair at first but as long as she was happy that is what truly mattered I did warm up to her being with Edge over time though I did at times wished that she would get back together with Matt and have a family it didn't happen though but Matt has forgiven her it's time for the people that absolutely hated her to forgive her I think Edge,Lita,and Matt are probably still friends by now,have healed from the situation, forgiven,and have moved on 😊
