For some reason, I think most, if not all of the recent Miss Korea winners are fluent in English. Whether that's intentional or not, I'm not sure.

To be honest, I somewhat had an idea of what Miss Korea pageant is through Miss Korea Seon 2021 and the currently reigning Miss Earth 2022 Mina Sue Choi. Thanks to this, i gained an in-depth insight (in my opinion) on what goes down in this Miss Korea pageant. Kudos to you guys ❤😊

I am a former national winner for an american pageant system and have top placements in several other systems. I just want to thank you for interviewing them and exposing people to the pageant world. I have followed the miss korea pageant for a long time and loved the concept of the winners having different meanings to their titles. Seeing how different miss korea is yet the same as ones ive done made me smile. There is so much that i resinated with in this video ❤

I did look up on Wikipedia that there is a Mr. Korea and I would like to know about the handsome standards and what qualifications does a Mr. Korea have to do in order to qualify could you possibly get some gentleman who have been Mr. Korea? Love this episode and learned a lot about how pageants are done in Korea. Pageants has always been entertaining to me especially watching international competitions where you get to see contestants from around the world. Your guests are just wonderful. Proof that contests like beauty pageants can be a positive and transformational experience and is not limited to just the looks or what is on the outside. I'm a fan of beauty pageants and I adore Miss Korea from previous years like those who competed in Miss Universe like Jang Yoon Jeong and Lee Ha Nui. I like Kim Soo Min, Yeaji Sarah too. Those who competed in Miss Earth like Choi Catharine, Kim Sara, Seo Seol-hee and especially in 2022 when Choi Mina Sue from Korea won. Hope you get to interview Mina Sue in another episode.

52:00 that’s so cool that she doesn’t let random commenters bother her and isn’t bothered that other contestants might be thinner - it’s so nice to see a secure woman for a change 😅 This is such a positive conclusion lol - people are just going to want to compete so it’s just the Beauty Olympics lol - and then they can just accept themselves ☺️ 1:07:10 lol that’s true 😹 the women contestants should decide I guess. Anyways there’s lots of beautiful people who might be poor or something and never get famous but now with the internet you can which is more democratic

The international pageant, was really looking for natural look and wit, they fast thinker, and wisdom thinker at same time when answering to questions, and presenting her self with/without camera.. being beauty contestant is like soldier, need to ready all the time, and that's hard

Good conversation but I was waiting for them to talk about there advocacy. I did’nt hear it or did I miss it? Advocacy is huge if you want to go international. That should be given an emphasis.

Sadly Korean beauty queens doesn't really have advocacy. That's why they rarely win on the international stage..

Sad to see one of the girls using a very sad period in Korean history, when people were tortured and killed by the coup of Chun Doo-hwan, as a technique to appeal to the jury. More even if you were not raised in Gwangju (at least you really know and had researched enough). Better you should honor the martyrs of the movement who led to democracy in the country in a less commercial way as writer Han Kang did in her beautiful novel "Human acts".

Korea really is a homogenous society, even in the beauty industry. Beauty queens all look alike, similar features, no variety that it tends to get stale.

It's a beauty contest not a dress contest. Miss Universe started by advertising swim wear. So what is the point for not having it. I'm okay with the other 3 pageants. Men and women who have dirty minds will have dirty minds whether your dressed or not. The first time I went to Seoul in 1996, I thought I was in Mongolia. Then one at time I realize the differences and started seeing beautiful Korean ladies without makeup. Today the beauty standards in South Korea must be so high, that you can't win a Miss Universe. I hope winning Miss Earth will break the ice. The 3 guest are prettier than the Miss Earth winner.

As interesting as I found this (and this is true for a lot of episodes), everybody is always talking about self improvement, bettering themselves, individualism pure. What about general ideas to fight for? You always speak positively about the democracy movement. What about the fight against poverty, women's movement, peace movement or whatever, especially CLIMATE CHANGE. Has your generation already given up?
