I think it’s because Bob Barker is famous for hosting The Price Is Right. On that game show, he would say that same phrase while calling the contestants! That’s why he is saying that phrase when Miss USA makes it.
Como han cambiado las cosas, a excepción de New Zealand, Singapur, USA y Venezuela, el resto son todas europeas cuando actualmente, la mayoría de las finalistas son generalmente latinoamericanas o asiáticas y muy pocas europeas.

Cómo quisiera que miss Universo de hoy en día, regresará a este formato. Escoger a las 10/12/15 semifinalistas que son las más bellas (no por tener buena oratoria o historia de vida). Y escoger a la más completa, durante la noche final. Actualmente es una pesadilla este certamen, hace años ya... Que dejó de ser un certamen de belleza!
Ese tipo de belleza ya no se ve ahora en los miss universe. La gran mayoría están tan operadas y con tanto photoshop en el caso de las fotos que pierden su naturalidad, al final todos los rostros iguales.
Odio que ahora el Reino Unido es quien compite en miss Universe (United Kingdom o Great Britain), me gustaba mas cuando esos paises competían individualmente (England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland).
Es como lo han hecho en Miss Mundo por muchos años. Además pienso que es más justo porque al ser sólo el Reino Unido les dan más oportunidad a los demás países.
Que no se note el racismo. El concepto estético de esos certámenes sólo era lo blanco, lo occidental. Y lo peor es que los espectadores esclavizados dicen: "esas de antes sí eran reinas" ¡Gente acostumbrada a que piensen por ellos!

bellisimas las 12 semifinalistas del miss universo 1983... hasta la niña oriental de singapur era bellisima.....fué un año en que mis dos superfavoritas quedaron:loraine miss universo y usa de segunda....que rostro más bello el de está miss universo.
Soy Peruano y definitivamente votaba por Vivian, pero la venezolana de ese entonces la cual tambien paso por Lima era de una belleza arrasadora, algo insegura nada mas, pero fisicamente despanpanante.
MU 1983 was the first one I remember watching, I was a girl and at 20 I gave a try at my country,s beauty pageant' though I was semifinalist only, it was a great experience!
Miss singapore was really pretty but not a beauty queen material She did not have a strong stage presence which is a must in any beauty pageant. Adorable.but not queenly.
I complain because many Miss USA titleholders make it far due to sash factor and some of the winners of Miss Universe who hailed from USA ...mmm I think they were heavily favoured. But Julie Hayek, OMG she is a godess, what a beautiful woman so much better than all the US winners of Miss Universe.
Andrés Mauricio yes Julie was stunning and considered a favorite by International Pageant experts that year. Many stunning and well deserved Miss USA winners did not win Miss Universe their respective years which is truly a shame (Debbie Shelton in 1970 was another outrageous result). Instead, USA has have a lot of surprising Miss Universe winners..... like 1960, 2012 alt. Olivia was beautiful. Brook Lee’s win in the 1997 was also a surprise becuz there were a lot more facially beautiful women that year. But, some sealed it with their final answers like she did.

El año de las Europeas,New Zelanda,Usa,Singapur y Venezuela muy hermosas tambien, En mi opinion Venezuela,Italia y Noruega ,sacandole ese vestido horrible, debieron estar junto a Usa , New Zelanda e Inglaterra
venevision no pago por retransmitir el certamen en vivo debido al viernes negro en Venezuela y la despacharon. lastima clasifico con la 2da mejor puntuacion y tambien su traje de noche cayo en malas manos que le rompieron la cremallera, pero aun asi lo uso y disimulo muy bien el percance.
Bob would always say come on down for miss usa; both switzerland and ireland competed against esch other the year before at miss world where they both made the finals. Usa should have won, but lorainne looked stunning the next year giving up the crown, very grace kelly.
