Phosphor-Bronze Wire: www.tichytrain... I use the 0.020” diameter wire - this is 1¾ scale inches. You could also use 0.015” wire, which is about 1¼ scale inches in diameter, but the rails will be more fragile.

Nice job 👍. This video does encourage me to try making my own handrails.

That's what I love to hear! My entire goal with these videos is to demonstrate how this stuff isn't as hard as it first appears. Good luck.

I always thought those stantions included by Athearn looked a little clunky. You’ve shown how with a bit of wire and patience the look is greatly improved.

I tried to make hand rails for a Tyco C-460? Bicentennial HO gauge model and they look so bad. I got way too much solder on them, so it's nice to see a video on how to make them properly. Guess my old 73 y.o. eyes don't work so good anymore. Cheers and Merry Christmas from eastern TN

Buy yourself some of this stuff: www.amazon.com/Lesnow-No-Clean-Desoldering-Removal-Dispenser/dp/B094GZ6CPZ/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=3HCZD2TW5XPJG&keywords=nte%2Bsolder%2Bwick&qid=1702939385&sprefix=nte%2Bsolder%2Bwick%2Caps%2C209&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1 This is a braided copper strip that absorbs molten solder. Place the braid on your solder joint and hold it down with a hot iron until the solder melts. Excess solder will flow into the wick. It's like magic!

Another great how-to. Making hand rail and grab irons is a good skill set to have.

Wonderful job, and a great tutorial. I don't have any missing handrails that I know if, but good to know if I do in the future not to panic.
