Great video... thanks for sharing. I have one question. How can I divide up a large survey flight plan into multiple missions? I am using a Solo quadcopter for mapping and my useful battery life with the GoPro Hero4 Black camera and gimbal is about 15 min. If I want to fly a large area it would be nice to break up a large survey mission into multiple missions to accommodate battery changes in between. Thanks for any suggestions you might have!
I am on an almost completely flat plain, and my default altitude is set to 75m (ie. if I create a survey with 'verify terrain' unchecked all altitudes are 75m). When I do this with 'verify terrain' checked, it seems to add an extra 25m to the altitude of all waypoints before modulating them with the terrain height (ie. my waypoint altitudes are all 100m +/- a few meters). Why would that be??
Hi, I have an important question Is is 5possible to set up a mission plan flight with two landing locations but the same destinations in order to extend flight distance? For example, I need to send my plane to land a location 200 miles away; a But my range miles is 140 miles Is it possible to set up the ways points from Point A to Point B, change the plane battery, plane reconnects to mission, plane launched into air to go from Point B to Point C??
Great Video but please remember that 400ft ~120M AGL is the MAXIMUM legal altitude to fly at according to the FAA part 107! If we adhere to the rules the FAA is less likely to interfere with our businesses/operations. Otherwise extremely informative. Thank you!
CaptainAthiest, connecting to multiple quads from one pc would not be possible out of the box... That said, the architecture of the Iris is pretty open. If you are technical, you could make something to work... I would need to know more about what you hope to do to give you more specifics. The radio device that comes with the Iris is more point to point. So, you would need to get extra transmitters for the extra quads. The radio provided with the Iris for telemetry connects to the brain of the quad via serial connection. You could fairly easily replace this connection with some other device that is connecting to your PC. Unfortunately, the current software, Droid Planner runs on android. I have not looked to see if there is similar PC software available. The brain of the quad is the PIXHAWK. You can hack this thing. I believe it's all open source. Cheers!
What if there is a hill between two waypoints, I guess 'verify terrain' does not help with that right? Is there any way to split each path segment into smaller pieces to have the 'verify terrain' work at a finer resolution?
iforce2d this video is quite dated, and in subsequent updates they have added a terrain waypoint type. If you change from relative to terrain in the flight plan pane then the aircraft will follow terrain along the entire course.
