With my own eyes, I knew a lutheran missionary and a roman catholic nurse in the Chilean copper mines. They married and decided and professed "communism"/socialism as the salvation of humanity and the destruction of poverty and corruption.....Lord have mercy .

very much enjoyed this video i had not really considered this in this way before about ecumenism being a result of missionary work from protestantism

I'm slightly surprised you never mentioned YWAM (Youth With a Mission). I grew in YWAM, and it's a very influential organisation as far ecumenical missionary efforts are concerned - probably the most influential today and in the last century - YMCA's got nothing on YWAM.... If anyone wants to attack ecumenical efforts, one should try to find fault with the efforts of YWAM and their legacy.

What are some practical things we can do if our church is a part of the World Council of Churches? As far as I'm aware, only the Georgian Orthodox Church and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church are the only two Eastern Orthodox Churches which are not a part of the World Council of Churches.

Pray. Write your clergy to get out. Avoid clergy who have embraced heresy. Educate others near you.

Is it true that the Holy Fire did not descend on Holy Saturday 1969 when Patriarch Benedict of Jerusalem was under pressure from WCC to accept the New Julian calendar? I am cautious about thinking this could be true!!

The Holy Snakes Of The Theotokos Miracle started happening on the New Calendar after the switch in Greece. While you can have a personal calendar preferance, keep yourself in the Church with obedience. The Church Of Christ which cannot be defeated is more important than which calendar is followed. Don't split from it over such issues. There are good arguments for both calendars in my view, but still, obedience is key. Also the only time when I read that the Holy Fire did not come down is when the Catholics did the ceremony instead of the Orthodox. The Orthodox ceremonies always got a response from God.
