Hey, Marcie! On the downside, it was a lot smaller and-since it’s new-not as well-established. On the plus side, it was really open and laid back; nice design continuity and, while we like the river location in Newport, the beachfront harbor view is pretty tough to beat! Overall, it depends on what you’re looking for: do you want to see more variety or just enjoy the animals and relax? 👍

My wife and I will be in Biloxi next month, and are looking for stuff to do while her aunt's, father, stepmom, and grandmother are gambling the day away. Aside from the aquarium, what would you recommend?

Awesome! There's are lots of fairly typical things to do: visit the beach, visitor's center, and lighthouse. We really enjoyed the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum, and Beauvoir is a beautiful place to check out. Wandering through Sharkheads and the Gulfport Premium Outlets is always on the list. We love crossing the bridge over to Ocean Springs and doing a little shopping, munching on treats from French Kiss Bakery, and just enjoying the quaintness of the little town. When Tato-Nut reopens it will be a must, and we always find Gulf Islands National Seashore relaxing. And honestly, when we go to the beach, it's almost always in Ocean Springs: they have a nice patch just South of I-90. There's are also loads of things we've yet to do: take a ferry out to Ship Island, check out the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art in Biloxi and Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs. Are you all looking for food/drink recommendations as well?

Is it worth the money?

Hey, Victoria! 👋 We felt like it was, just as a nice afternoon in and of itself. Where that gets a little questionable is when you start comparing it to larger, more well established aquariums-the relatively nearby Aquarium of Americas in New Orleans, for instance. We have seen a number of reviews where people thought it wasn’t worth the money and we definitely get it-especially for mid-to-large families. There are even some who claimed that they were in and out in less than half an hour-quite an impressive feat, and not one that would really allow for any moments of enjoyment. Even still, we are hoping for lots more additions in the future.

Thanks for chatting with us, Mandingo! In and of itself, for us it was; and especially so now that the dolphins and probably a few other things are open. Where it gets a little questionable is when you compare it to larger, more well-established aquariums: many of them cost the same or less and offer a lot more. So, in the end, it provides a nice, relaxing atmosphere; we think it’s worth checking out if you’re in the area, though we probably wouldn’t choose it over, say, the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans except for convenience. Does that make sense? 😊

@@MikeLizLife Does make sense. Basically, it’s not Atlanta or New Orleans, but it’s a nice lil getaway for a few hours. $60 into the aquarium or into the slots. Depends how you wanna spend the day.
