How do you know the facts are as you, presented them? There is no recording of what was said, there is no video of how it went down. This was just a tragic issue of the cities becoming unsafe..remember the kid had to get to several doors before anyone helped him. In my mind that says people are afraid to open their doors. Some people are responsible enough. That's why we need to treat them like automobiles! License, registration, insurance and competency testing! This is misleading. The "racial component" was simply that the boy was black and the man was white. Police also said that it did not appear to be "racially motivated." Racial component doesn't mean racially motivated.

Here in Australia we don’t have a 2nd amendment but we love our great freedom and our peace. The last mass shooting of any consequence in this country was on April 28 1996. As a result of that shooting, the Australian government banned assault weapons and required registration of all firearms and licensing of all firearm owners. There have been just a few minor shootings in Australia in the 27 years since. The USA should consider the same changes to its law.

Kansas City and Missouri have laws that suspects have to either charge or release him within 24 hours. The KCPD acted appropriately. I don't know why the law is written the way it is.

The jury can determine whether to convict on all, some or none. A judge can merge the sentences for multiple convictions. I would throw the entire library and not just one book for this case.

I think initially the home owner tried to claim the kid had entered his house unannounced, but it turns out he'd only rang the doorbell. I think they had to assume the home owners story until the kid woke up and was able to tell his side of what happened. Had the kid not survived, I doubt they'd have charged the home owner.

This should be seen as a desperately unfortunate accident. An accident in a country and a state where firearms and using 'deadly force to protect yourself' are legal. What the media aren't telling you... this happens at ten thirty at night. The couple are eighty five years old. They have been asleep for several hours already. They're frail and afraid of their neighbourhood. They've two visible signs telling people to 'stay away'. The 'teen' went to what he though was the right numbered house to pick up his siblings. He had the right house number, just not the right street. He was insistent that they ( siblings ) come out. He knew they were in there. Woken up, lots of noise and confusion... their worst nightmare, someone wanted to come in to their home, late at night. The couple were confused and frightened. This story doesn't have any villains, only the society they live in... is the true villain here.

With the multiple stories I've heard, It seems like he may have entered the house not knowing it was the wrong address and then was shot. If that's not the case then yeah It was probably racially motivated but we don't know literally ANYTHING at this point. While this is a tragedy, if the narrative being given is accurate, I'm saddened that similar cases haven't been given anywhere the amount of attention as this one. Back in February 1st, 2023, a twelve-year-old unarmed white child by the name of Connor Mullins was playing on the lawn of his black female neighbor, Tywoana Anderson-Jakes, with his brother and a friend of his of the same age group in Phenix City, Alabama. Jakes pulled out a gun, approached the boys. The boys proceeded to promptly flee only for Jakes to shoot Mullins in his neck, killing him, when he bent down. She was just released on bail this month. Why hasn't this family been compensated with donations? Why haven't the surviving members of his family been given an invitation to the White House? Why weren't they allowed the safety of knowing that Jakes, who had been reported as firing at a man on her property back in September of 2022 making her a known risk, would still be kept back behind bars instead of being released back in the community where she tried and failed to kill one man and executed a twelve-year old months later. Why wasn't it investigated as to whether there was a racial component in the murder of his twelve-year old boy? Where are the riots in support of the community and said community's children? Furthermore, I can't even find a single major news channel covering this story on-air even though it's easily googleable. Why the double-standard?
@Albrecht von Wallenstein Anger, divisiveness sells. Blk victim/wht suspect sells. The media is selling a product. For some it's a false sense of "retribution" for the decades Blks didn't get a fair shake by the media. Blk on Wht, Wht on Wht or Blk on Blk crimes *do NOT sell.*
Speaking of the old man in KC who shot the black teen (thank god he survived) There was a black man in NC who shot a white 6yr old girl, her dad and her mom for a ball rolling in his yard and the girl chasing after it. He was still on the lamb as of Thursday. NO COVERAGE
