In addition to being an incredibly talented surgical nurse manager who spends her time making her colleagues feel “heard” and respected, Missy makes others happy and more content by just being her own effervescent, charming, and forward-thinking self. She dreamt up a way to not only create awareness that we still offer surgical services, but that we have a thriving clinic, state-of-the-art equipment, and experienced and skilled surgeons who are not only exceptional in a small town but anywhere they would practice, big city or not. “Doc Stars” Backstage Pass to Surgical Servies” was Missy’s brainchild.
She rallied her department and the entire hospital around the concept that the general public would come in droves to see what happens to a patient during surgery - from the second they check in until the time they leave. She was right, and the hospital saw tremendous success - so much so we had more than 300 people come through our doors. She also graciously lent her visage in front of several camera crews to better spread the word. Missy is the definition of going above and beyond, and our hospital is better for her being in it.
