Hey. Shawty here who needs the bridge pretty often even on 7-8 ft tables. Learning to use it as an extension of my body is all part of the fun of the game for me. I recently hit one of my best draw shots with one last practice. Hope you’ve embraced it more. I love your videos and appreciate you so much. You’ve helped me improve my game immensely. Thanks for all you contribute to the community.

Love the scenario at about 13 min where you had to come down table after pocketing the 7 ball in the corner to gain position on the eight. One technique I'd love to see you mention is "cheating the pocket". it helps to adjust your line coming down table to the next ball if that ball is equidistant to both corner pockets. Another technique that helps in situations where the cue ball is close to a rail is using the bevel of the rail to ensure the cue has a better contact patch when shooting. Love your content keep it coming.

I recognize those Kasson rails because I bought a set of them in '94 and retrofitted them to a bed of another manufacture, with ball return pockets instead of baskets, so my table is a one of a kind frankenstein. Those side pockets play tight from an angle. If I was a sure shot like you then I wouldn't be afraid of them, but for me on those either-or shots my chances are much better in the corner pocket where the ball can funnel in if I'm a little off.

I'm getting better moving the cue ball into position. Sometimes I have to take low percentage shots due to missing my target spot. But even those shots are getting better. I have a better understanding of cue ball control and what shot to take (and not take) and when. It's thanks to this channel. My wins are increasing slowly and people have noticed. I still have tons of work to do though. Just wanted to give a shout to you guys and give credit where it's earned.. Keep up the good work. Thank you.

I have learned so much from your videos. I am just a "recreational" player, but I am dying to get an APA ranking. I have taught myself to shoot with either hand, and often get comments from the people I play with. Love the game and miss my days (nights) playing league pool. I should also add that I am 71.

There are a lot of people out there that do not know what ( think three balls ahead means) it means cue ball position not shot selection. Everybody knows what pocket they want the ball in but you need to know where to place the cueball each shot. Because if you don't get your cue ball right the first shot by your whole run could be messed up.

Bryan I must say that I love this video because of the fact that often times we shoot what we think is ideal only to have it backfire and cause us a harder out than we started with. Sometimes looking at shots from a couple different angles to judge what would be the best shot to get on the ball after the one we're shooting to get onto

8:15 Here I see an option I take more often. Stop shot on the 6 leaves you a fairly easy shot on the 7 in the bottom left. Rather than take fancy leave or force yourself around the table because the side pocket looks automatic, take whats available and its not that tough really.
@robertirwin8892

That last shot ( the weak hand shot ) is a real pain, to put it nice. I have seen a friend who is left hand strong, but shoots pool right handed, have that "weak hand shot", BUT he does it behind his back so that it is still a right hand shot, and he will make that shot 9 out of every 10 times he does it.
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards 5 месяцев назад
Most 12 year olds can make that behind the back shot but the reason we don’t do that (besides looking silly) is because it compromises your position play. We can make shots with a broomstick, but good players are trying to get shape. I’ve seen a couple pros shoot it out of laziness, but only when getting position wasn’t an issue
@TwoEagleStar

Great video. In the early days, I was a zone player and would screw myself by having to manufacture shape after the fact. Glad to see you point these things out Bryan. Also, the weak hand shots...I'm trying to up my game now that I have a tablet and can practice more often on elevating my week hand shooting to improve my game when I either put myself in that situation or my opponent does it for me. Thanks again Bryan for quality information!!

I liked videos that outline poor decisions and how to play a better option. This video illustrates exactly that. Hope to see more of these. Unrelated question. Have you found yourself playing in lower quality tables (i.e dirty cloth, non-reactive rails, dirty balls)? If so, can you share some advice on how to compensate for those limitations?
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards 4 года назад
During my APA days I played on a ton of them. I have nightmares about those tables. Only advice I can give is to keep in mind what the issues are an adapter game around it. Off balance avoid longer shots -bed rails avoid bank shots. The subject might be worth a video of its own

brian can you do us a favor and video your draw shots up close in super slow motion. for some reason my draws are jumps. not always yet more than I would like. I know the cue stick needs to be low and I know a good chalk is needed and a good follow through is advised and a good high speed shot should equal a draw especially when your not aiming the stick too low.....yet once in a while the popcorn machine rears its ugly head. oh....and I use decent chalk all the time with a dime tip so perhaps a slow motion presentation would help pin point the accuracy needed, thanks.
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards 4 года назад
What would help more, is if you sent me a video of your shot. The point where I hit the CB might be disaster for some players to try to copy. I am at the very bottom of the CB. - It could be that you are dropping your shoulder during the shot. That is usually why players miscue on strong draw shots. Check out this video, I thing I have a slow motion or at least close up shot of where my strike point used to be. It's even lower now. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Dn1QzfOvk8I.html

@@FXBilliards I believe my problem was when I made the draw shot the stick tended to drop a millimeter or two thus popping the ball up instead of achieving the desired backspin. once I focused more on location of the shot as opposed to the lowness of the stick or the pivot of the arm my shots seemed to have improved. I think the master of the draw shot is the best learned shot to increase wins compared to any other shot.
