rial disease is a group of disorders caused by mitochondrial dysfunction. Mitochondria are the organelles that generate energy for the cell and are found in every cell of the human body except red blood cells. They convert the energy of food molecules into the ATP that powers most cell functions.
Mitochondrial diseases take on unique characteristics both because of the way the diseases are often inherited and because mitochondria are so critical to cell function. A subclass of these diseases that have neuromuscular symptoms are known as mitochondrial myopathies.Examples of mitochondrial diseases include:
Mitochondrial myopathy
Diabetes mellitus and deafness (DAD)
this combination at an early age can be due to mitochondrial disease
Diabetes mellitus and deafness can be found together for other reasons
Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON)
visual loss beginning in young adulthood
eye disorder characterized by progressive loss of central vision due to degeneration of the optic nerves and retina
affects 1 in 50,000 people in Finland
Leigh syndrome, subacute necrotizing encephalomyelopathy[citation needed]
after normal development the disease usually begins late in the first year of life, although onset may occur in adulthood
a rapid decline in function occurs and is marked by seizures, altered states of consciousness, dementia, ventilatory failure
Neuropathy, ataxia, retinitis pigmentosa, and ptosis (NARP)
progressive symptoms as described in the acronym
dementia
Myoneurogenic gastrointestinal encephalopathy (MNGIE)
gastrointestinal pseudo-obstruction
neuropathy
MERRF syndrome
progressive myoclonic epilepsy
"Ragged Red Fibers" are clumps of diseased mitochondria that accumulate in the subsarcolemmal region of the muscle fiber and appear when muscle is stained with modified Gömöri trichrome stain
short stature
hearing loss
lactic acidosis
exercise intolerance
MELAS syndrome
Mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome
Conditions such as Friedreich's ataxia can affect the mitochondria but are not associated with mitochondrial proteins.

He forgot to mention diet and lifestyle that can cause mitochondrial issues too. Sounds like an advertisement for a pharmaceutical company, selling hopelessness.

Do u differentiate between mito disease and dysfunction? I hope so, because i have mito dysfunction which is epigenetic, not part of DNA. I was always low energy, but still work out vigorously. Now that i am old, i suffer from chronic farigue, which i believe stems from chronic stress due to adverse childhood experiences and complex PTSD. Allopaths cant help, which is very frustrating, but my functional md put me on Metformin...and i feel better already. Heat and ice therapy is actually very good for this. It helps get rid of zombie cells. In addition, i take many nutraceuticals: CoQ10, NAD boosters, etc...it is NOT hopeless!

Try and avoid mitochondrial toxic meds when you can. Like don't take obscene amounts of tylenol. And if you ever take antibiotics..make sure someone is around you. This is not medical advice. Just personal experience from not doing well with mitochondrial toxic meds.

@@claudeyaz what is the issue with antibiotics and mito? They save lives and are needed sometimes.

@@Alexe829 How am I doing? I feel I'm falling apart bit by bit. After a lifetime of being active, I have reached the Hayflick Limit. This happened five yrs ago. From being active to having trouble walking due to energy loss...it's brutal. I live in fear where this will lead me. I'm in my 70s now. I guess you couldn't call it premature aging. Some days I feel i am at death's door...even on good days I don't feel well. Every day is a struggle...and not being able to eat what I want is insult to injury...and I'm not supposed to be negative because it causes stress and makes me worse. Frankly, I live in Hell. Sadly, being happy in my heart is out of reach for reasons given, plus I'm alone sans family support.

Remember was just diagnosed through muscle biopsy of mitochondrial disease I believe his talent his whole life he had slowed growth and muscle mass he also suffered from migraines since a teenager do you have the lack of exercise you could not handle overexertion in his 60s he had a kidney stone that cause sepsis it seemed after that the mitochondrial disease got much stronger his when I drooped that let us through a diagnostic test
