Yeah from memory all those wires aligned between the redarc and mitsubishi loom. I went to Jaycar and got the same connector as the redarc to make it plug in rather than cut and solder.
Man, I paid someone to do this and I kinda wish I'd just done it myself. Unprotected wires with no split conduit over them. Bad crimps. Connectors literally fell off. Final straw was today when I was doing something else, I noticed teh control unit has just been cable tied to a loom. Exactly what the instructions say NOT to do. Shits me so bad that good service is so hard to come by now.
I missed the bit where you show exactly how the Redarc controller is wired in? Where does the blue wire from the Redarc go to the Mitsi wiring harness? Where does the Redarc get its brake input? Is there a diode included in the Mitsi harness?
To be honest it's a bit of a mystery to me how this works. I believe it takes the brake input from the single plug which was in the top left corner under the dash. The redarc simply plugs with 4 wires into a 4 pin plug. That part is pretty basic. The confusing bit it's the swapping over relays under the tub. Possible that they do this instead of the diode? Otherwise it must be included in the loom
@@thelapyear ok cool. But my redarc came with a plug that goes to the redarc unit with bare wire ends. Are you saying that the Mitsi harness kit comes with a plug that suits the redarc unit?
@@brantwinter oh yeah I remember now I bought the same plug at Jaycar and crimped on the connectors onto the redarc wire ends.you could just join the wires I guess but I was keen to minimise joins as they are always the points of failure.
Man I feel like I done everything right, have got power to tow pro remote switch but don't have any power at the 7 pin rear plug now. Does anyone know what fuse runs the rear socket wiring harness. Can't work out why my rear socket has no power.
The main power fuse for this is the one you installed near the battery. I'd double check that's not blown. Otherwise it is likely to be your wiring under the tub
Yeah unfortunately i forgot to film that. I struggled from the front for ages (using a small flat head screwdriver) and realised i was just going to ruin the facia. The way i got to them is with the glovebox removed i squeezed my arm through the gap in the center console and was able to pop the blank out. Also used the same approach to feed the wires through.
Hmm if i have the glovebox out again i'll try and make a vid. Basically with the glovebox removed there is a small gap on the right hand side which the glovebox covers when it is in. I was able to fit my hand through and using feel just popped the little plastic bit out by pushing from the inside. It did need a bit of force to pop it out (like it would be fun trying to lever it out from the outside)
hmm it was a real pain from memory - I cant recall any tricks just had to open it up to the position i showed in the vid. I'm pretty sure there were no tabs or anything - you may need to remove that foamy tape stuff if its holding it together.
