Thanks mate. I was thinking about flushing my 2009 NT Pajero but I'm a bit hesitant. When the fluid is cold it jerks into 2nd or 3rd gear with a bit of a harsh change, but once it's warmed up it's okay. I think I'll just change the oil following your advice. Thanks again.

Great video, going to do mine in few weeks. I have a question, what is the procedure to replace all of the atf oil? I’m planning to by the Penrite LV atf. My understanding it is around 10L, is that correct? Also not sure what has been filled with as people reporting that Mitsubishi using the SP-iii. Thanks

Thanks for the video. I have a 2016 NX Pajero with about 100k on it so probably due for a transmission fluid change. I think the filter is good for another 100k. I was intending to connect a hose to the transmission cooler and let the car pump out a measured 1 litre of fluid. When this is done turn off the engine and replace this with a measured 1 litre of clean fluid through the filler hole on the transmission housing . I was intending to repeat this 12 times to hopefully replace the old fluid as much as possible. Just wondering do you think this would be a good method to use? Used this method on my sons Prado and seemed to work well.

hi, waste of time and effort in my experience ( not like an engine service ), remove the trans pan, replace the filter, clean trans pan and magnet ( and add magnets ). refilling with new fluid that comes out is enough to boost the fluid qualities. we only do a full flush ( need to do at least 3 times the complete volume of trans completely dry ) only if coolant or water enters trans. see ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1paq5RbiTNQ.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Veu5h5evTiY.html cheers for beers if deserved ? link is in description thanks

@@YepThatsIt Thanks for your reply. What you are suggesting sounds like a full transmission service. I was only looking at renewing the trans fluid (or as much as possible). A fair bit of work on the Paj to remove the support bar and then drop the pan, replace filter and put it all back together again (though not out of the question as my son is a mechanical fitter). The car has done 100K and the transmission is working perfectly. I have a big trip planned and I thought by renewing the fluid at 100k it should be good for another 100k and do a full transmission service then?

Great job and very interesting way to check the oil level on the Pajero gearbox (as there is no more a gauge to fill and check the oil level). One question, how do you remove the "old" oil ?, I cannot come to your location (very far from your location). Thanks a lot for this video and the associated advice.
@YepThatsIt
@YepThatsIt 5 лет назад
hi, best to lower transmission pan. replace filter and clean trans pan and magnets. unless you have trans issues that is sufficient to freshen up trans fluid ( roughly half fluid will come out ). if you need to flush more fluid out we usually suck out via the cooling lines, that will suck out down to the bottom of the torque converter neck but fluid in lower half of converter will remain. hope that helps cheers

@@YepThatsIt any chance of doing a flush video in the near future? I'm not sure if it will help or not, but my 2009 NT occasionally changed to 2nd or 3rd (I can't remember which) pretty hard, kind of jerks and not really smooth. It's had the 90k service done by Mitsy so all driveline oils and is just about due for the 180km service now so I will try and attempt it myself but am thinking I should probably do a flush. Would love to know your thoughts. Thanks

Gidday mate. I think my answer will be the obvious one... but to check my transmission oil levels in DID 2010 Pajero Transmission. I run it up to temp, then open that allen key plug and top up through upper side plug until trickles out bottom one? Also, does this oil feed the transfer case directly behind it also? Or are they separate oils in separate chambers? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the video. I find that after doing the oil change my Pajero needs to rev to 1500rpm before the car starts moving, so there’s a delay after engaging the gear, this happens after the car warms up, cold seems to be okay. Reverse gear mostly affected. Would you say it’s more or less oil? Thanks
@YepThatsIt

hi, if you have internal pressure leaks, as the fluid warms it thins out, so the leak will get worse. cheers

@@YepThatsIt please elaborate on internal pressure leaks? Thanks
@Br3no94
@Br3no94 2 года назад
If changing the fluid has brought it on, and the level is not low the transmission was likely on its last legs and you’ve dislodged the fine metallic particles that were sealing some internal leaks past the solenoids and or pressure boost valve. Changing fluid again may help, unlikely, there’s an old wives tale that you can put some old fluid back to help gum up those leaks again, but an additive would be better. Realistically though the transmission sounds due for an overhaul.

Thanks for sharing ! By the way , since this is your third tranny of this type that you show how to change the oils , i think it would very nice to make a video about flushing the oil from the torque converter. Again... Thanks so much for all your informative videos!!!!
@YepThatsIt
@YepThatsIt 5 лет назад
hi, i have a video when i change the fluid several times when radiator coolant has entered the transmission ( known as a milkshake )..... to remove "most" of the fluid, we suck the top section of the torque converter oil out by connecting trans cooling hose to a vacuum pump and also drain the trans pan. however changing the oil in the torque converter is unnecessary unless you have water and/or coolant in your transmission. if you have a worn transmission, you will only make it worse if you change all the fluid as the contaminated old fluid will be a little "thicker"than new trans fluid....so if you have internal pressure leaks in your trans the thinner fluid will leak through easier...just a normal service is all that is needed, and if that doesn`t improve it, that means you have more major problems anyway and are just wasting money and making it worse by thinning the fluid out more. choice is yours though and i hope that makes sense. cheers
