Mine arrived this past Saturday and I'm really enjoying it. I have the s9 as well and of course it has the edge over the duo for obvious reasons. However, for the price point this mixer holds its own with a built in Serato audio interface, hot cue/sampler pads, usb hub, single Serato fx, mini inno-fader, great sound quality and superb build quality to top it off.

Awesome Review!!!!!!! The Mixars Duo Is an awesome mixer with tons of features for the price. I've had mine for about 2 weeks so far i'm very pleased the customer service is surprisingly very good fast response time via email or social media. The construction is very solid all metal unlike the Pioneer & the Paint seems to be good quality unlike the pioneer. The USB ports are well appreciated. I added The Akai AFX for 199.99 to unlock several key features in Serato DJ including manual loop, with the added bonus of capacitive touch knobs and a touch strip. To complete the package I have a set of Reloop Rp8000 the revised version (Official Serato accessory) both connected to the USB ports on the mixer with only one cable connected to my laptop= a clean set up, I have a Lacie 3.0 rugged external hard drive contented directly to the 3.0 USP port on my computer over all its a great buy. My minor gripe is it the up faders are post fader but the cross faders doesn't seem to be and you cant listen to the Aux input through your head phones. but its not a deal barker, but you can use the Line input in the back & simply switch back and fourth with a switch on the top of the Mixer. Its a Greate Mixer for the Price I'm pretty sure Mixars will be releasing there own sub controllers to unlock the key features of Serato Dj Simular to the Akai AFX, the Pioneer SP1 or the DJ tech CTRL since they included the USB ports in the back.
If i was using real vinyl with this mixer what would be the best way to do a recording?, using the record out (RCA) or using the USB to PC out?. Fantastic review BTW..

Yo man, another SMASH Video ! This is almost a clone for the Kontrol Z2, but for Serato. I am a Z2 and Traktor user, BUT this makes things interesting for me if I switched over to Serato and picking up this mixer. I will WAIT for the price to drop, hopefully Mixars gets hot and discount the price, just like NI did for the Z2 a while back. Big Ups Kareem !
Thanks for your videos on the DUO, I'm looking into getting the new Mk2 version, as since I don't use much FX I think it will do. I mainly use some echo type stuff once in a while, and the channel filter. I love the push/twist knob access to loops on my TM8 so I'm hoping this works in a similar fashion. You showed the vinyls that came with the DUO, but until I get batter tables I will likely be using this at home with CDJ800MKII players, and would like to know if these mixers come with time code CDs as well as vinyls? Reading the comments now I don't know if I should get this or the Z2. I already have Serato with the Denon DS1 box and dicers. I want to get rid of the dicers because only one works. If I get the Z2 I would have to map the midi buttons or use Traktor software. I have read that NI is not doing much with their software compared to Serato.
What is the width of the mixer? Every website lists its dimensions as 16x15x7... obviously for the packaging it comes in so is it 10 or 12 inches across so I can buy the right sized flight deck.
Hey Kareem is worth buying more then the Reloop Kut And is the crossfader better on the duo den the reloop kut I heard the innofader bleeds pretty quick on the reloop kut. Thank you
I don't think the innofaders bleed quickly, but the Reloop Kut is basically a Reloop RMX-22i with a soundcard... I like the Mixars Duo because it has good build quality and it works with Serato...
Hi I already own one but was wondering if your channel faders are loose like the crossfader? Just feels like there is not much resistance for my liking. great review but I was wondering if you can help me out with this question and then might sound idiotic but when you connect the turntables to the back of the mixer and the laptop how does Serato recognize the turntable to pick up the signal .. I ask this because I'm thinking of buying this mixer I have never used Serato on my turntables I have a built-in Serato on my controller but I don't know how all the plugins work with this mixer
If you buy this mixer, then you will get the built-in Serato on the mixer and you get the digital vinyl you need for your turntables. All you have to do is connect your turntables to the mixer via RCA and then connect the mixer to your computer via USB... The special vinyl transmits the audio signal to your computer... Very simple. You don't need anything else.
Hey man I have my technics plug in to this mixer with serato but I can't figure out why am I not getting any sound My technic do not have a ground wire but it worked perfectly without it on a rane 68 but for this mixer I'm not getting sound does the ground wire matter??

I got my Mixar Duo Mix about 3 weeks ago.Nicely built as you said & it's nice and clear.Now I have one problem.I'm getting feedback (High patch sound) when I put the needle on the coded disk.the sound isn't coming out through system the feedback is only heard when the is on the disk & no volume on.What shoud I do?
Needles on a record will always produce the sound that is on the record at a very low volume. That is the beauty of vinyl. You will always hear it coming from the needle. If you play regular music vinyl, you will hear that too slightly even without a speaker or headphone.

Hey Karem! I'm slow so bear with me. On a rane I'm used to I having an audio or digital knob, to go from DVS to vinyl. if I want to use vinyl on this mixer is that what the phonoline and phono channel switch for on each side?
Are you able to put anything inside where the fader is to get rid of the clicking sound? Idk of this one does it cus it’s the innofader cuz mine is the MK2 with the Galileo fader but makes that clicking sound which I don’t really care for; even though the fader is smooth
The innofader does not click but i am not sure about the galileo... You can try to open it up and see if u can fit a small credit card type of material in there to stop the clicks but this is a custom style solution.
The Mixars Duo is the best value 2 deck Serato mixer, but I still think the price should be the same as the NI Traktor Kontrol Z2, so then ppl are basically choosing between having a product with built in Serato or Traktor sound cards with DVS option. I guess the main difference in having the same pricing as Native Instruments is that Traktor is their own software as with Mixars is paying a licensing fee to have Serato support, which is a bit like Linux/Ubuntu vs Microsoft Windows for oems with pcs. The Numark is more simple and has those cool effects paddles BUT this has more inputs/output options. Also has a few other options which I'm forgetting but they are similarly matched...

Yes it would, but the V7's don't even need a mixer with any USB soundcard in it. They work by themselves with Serato DJ and have their own internal soundcards. They work with ANY mixer... It has RCA outputs. The Rane 12's don't. Very big difference.
DJBooth Pro Audio I gotcha. I'm just looking for a mixer with the sampler feature. Cuz I DJ after parties and I play in a reggae Rock band and I tend to use the sampler in Serato DJ a lot but I'm having to move away from my turntable and mixer to my laptop to trigger a sample then go back too scratch lol. Just looking for something more convenient.
just purchased the mixars duo and i havent been able to enjoy it yet maybe u can help me out. i plug the mixer in and get Error: loading xlm and failed to connect audio. any tips
I was having some issues from time to time as well. I just had to reset the drivers by uninstalling and reinstalling and then connecting to Serato again. Try that.
You will need to record within the Serato DJ software or you can use one of the other outputs you arent using to route the audio to your computer or to another recording device...
Serato is already built in... No need for an additional Serato Soundcard... This is the cheapest mixer you will get that gives Serato DJ compatibility besides the AMX which is only a controller and not a mixer...
I have both the S9 and the Duo, and yes the S9 is more feature rich and the layout flow is excellent compared the Duo. But we're talking a $700 price difference. So I feel the Duo will easily find its niche'.
The crossfader and sound quality is better on the S9 IMO. but not by a lot. The Duo sounds great as well and as was reviewed, the body chassis is rock solid.
The S9 wins in sound quality, crossfader, effects, and features. There's just so much more going on in the S9... I do like this DUO very much though and will likely keep this as well...
Innofader's Elliot Marx made the PSA on FB regarding they will be no longer provide mini innofader to Mixars as a installed option because he feel they copied DJ-Tech 1M design as well as the 1s. But you will be able to upgrade to a innofader. But I beg to different designs maybe similar but the Mixar DUO build quality and features are far superior. If anything the DJ-Tech 1M and Mixars DUO are more similar to NI Z2, you don't see Native Instruments crying about someone coping them. The politics of DJ'ing can be absurd sometimes.
Agreed... They aren't that similar to be honest. They all copied Z2 anyway. It's almost like saying any controller with 8 pads on each side copied the Vestax VCI-380...
Not so fast... The Z2 was about $999 when it first appeared on the market as well. This price will likely drop in a year or two... It's still the best price you can get for a Serato DJ integrated mixer. Even if you buy a Z2 and a Serato DS1 it will still be $999...
I'm agree with you and hope that price will sufficiently drop down soon. However, we should notice that NI proposed really competitive price with Z2 mixer. At the moment there is no cheap serato mixer in the market. We should argue with serato company and push them somehow to drop the prices. It's possible and there is no reason to pay money for brand name..
The Z2 was $899 when it launched... The Mixars DUO just launched at $999... This is VERY competitive. No reason to argue with anyone as this is a good price. They will sell thousands of these mixers at that price. The other Serato Mixers are all over $1000 but they still sell thousands too... ie Sixty-Two and DJM-S9...
Yes, but without custom serato DJ effects that you can assign and tweak, without headphone split cue, without balanced TRS booth outputs, without linefader curve and hamster, without the ability to change the line faders with something better, without a Microphone combo jack, and there are a few others, but you can see why there is a $200 price difference.
