I have to say, @Crossfader, I am glad you made this video, I was about to spend over a thousand on a controller. This just changed my mind for now!!! Lovely tutorial
Looks good. Sounds good. And for sure. Has good features, numark has done. Something great with this mixer. Can’t wait to get my hands on it. Keep it up. Numark. 👍👍. Good and well explain video. 👌
This mixer with 2 Audio Technica ATLP140-XP's were just over 1500.00 out the door with 2yrs of insurance. I'm very pleased at the performance of this equipment, at this price. I even threw in a coffin and a foldable stand with the money saved.
Played around with this mixer the other day and I was Truly impressed!!! First off that cross fade is really nice and right next to the set I was playing around with was a set with the same Numark Scratch with an innofader pro2 crossfade! So one was butter and the other was butter on ice!!!!! That's just the crossfader, there is a lot of other feature's that are SICK! Than I started playing around with the pads, using them as cue points and I was very impressed. I use a Rane TTM56S so when ever I want to hit a cue point I have to use the lap top. I am yet to use the effects but that is the reason I started liking this mixer!! So far I give it a 10, but I will rate it again after I pick one up!!!!a
I'm finally upgrading from my analog Rane 56 too and am looking into this mixer so your comment is hella helpful! Thank you! I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far. Just need something simple, has DVS, and the basic fx. Most Important part though is the Innofader. I got a Stanton STX and you're right, it's butter on ice! I didn't think you could get any better than the stock fader on the Rane but I'm wrong!
Hey, hoping you can help me out... Serato doesn't give me the option of DECK SETUP in the Audio tab. DVS also doesn't seem to be enabled when plugging in. Serato DOES recognize the hardware though. Any tips would be appreciated!
I own this beauty for a few weeks now and can absolutely recommend it. Best bang for buck when it comes to a Serato DVS enabled 2-Channel Battle Mixer. Strongest contender might be the Mixars Duo MK2, which has the advantage of adjustable linefaders but has no post fader FX on the CF, Numark Scratch has, though.

@@MakingMadBeats I'm running mac OS Catalina 10.15.5, but I'm not getting a block notification when I open my security & privacy settings. How can I check to see if Serato functions are being blocked aside from that?
@@trevorbanks3287 Yeah! That's the problem that is well known with mac OS "Crapalina" 😂!!! Serato has mentioned it on their website that you need to grant microphone access in order to make it work. Glad I could help you out 🤜
If I was just starting out, this is what I would get. This is such a good value and, if you want to upgrade, a ddj xp2 would be perfect for this and give you nearly everything you'd ever need for a long long time.
Would you still recommend the numark scratch and xp2 over a pre-owned s9 or s7? I currently have a Rane One but want to get a battle setup for my house.
@@leemajors1417 depends on what u mean? You can change the effects on what the mixer has to offer. Which is quite a bit. But make you're own custom effects? Kind of, but ultimately no.
@@leemajors1417 i haven't tried changing the effects like that yet using the pads for solely that kind of purpose because I use the toggle switch for effects instead. You can lock in the effect. Or hold the toggle for the preferred effect as long as u want.
I have this mixer. The only thing is no effects without serato so you're forced into serato. Other than that it is a beast the crossfader is solid. Peace!
Hi I just got 2 Numark NDX500 and im looking at getting this mixer, Im just going to be using for just mixing tracks and playing files off the Mac, no scratching will this work alright for what Im looking to do
That mixers looks like it bring lots of good features for that size and the price it’s perfect for us dj with a low budget, I like it. I would definitely get it try it and rock it. I really think numark did something good with this incorporating SERATO in it. Keep it up👍
I got this mixer a couple of years ago and mostly works fine but I cannot get the pads to produce/play any captured sound in cue, sample or roll modes. The buttons do light up but that's it. I'm using Serato DJ Pro 3.0.4. Any suggestions for what the issue could be? I'm using a Dell Latitude 7490 laptop with specs as follows: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8350U CPU @ 1.70GHz 1.90 GHz Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.88 GB usable) System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.
Are those all Serato Effects? or they also work on Vinyl without Serato hooked up? I mean the Sound is great. I did not really notice any difference to my DJM 800 i owned. I listened ur video with my Creative Soundcard and Beyerdynamics DT990 Pro´s Thx if u answer
Yes ye, i'm oooold school. What are those on the turntables? They look like vinyl records but not really since I didn't see a the needle on either of the discs? Link please! Do I even need my vinyl library if I got something like that? I'm talking about the records... or what appears to be a record.. Thanks
Q: ❓🤔I have Klispsh 15-Rpm active speakers that have only copper stranded wire attachments...2 turntables... where would i connect the stranded wires on this dj mixer❓thx
I would like to know if all those features on the mixer like the echo sound and the pads work in phono mode or do they only work when it’s in line? Basically can I use the effects when I’m using real vinyls without any software?
Wished this came out few years ago would of been better than me buying the mixars cut two reloop module controllers and denon ds1 interface. Could saved couple of hundred pounds to put towards better turntables. Plus it reduces clutter behind the mixer with having tge ds1 interface there 🙄
Does serato get fully unlocked or is it only for use with scratch? If I buy this, can I take this serato version to a venue that has an s9 and be compatible? Just making sure it's not proprietary to numark scratch only mixer
If you are thinking of buying this and upgrading the crossfader to the Innofader Pro 2, BEWARE! the plate that houses the mediocre Mini Innofader is too small to house the wider big brother the Innofader Pro 2. I literally spent about 3 hours bending the metal housing plate, until I finally got it to house the Inno Pro 2, and secure it to the mixer itself. I'm not sure if there will be a metal housing plate that will allow you to install the Inno Pro 2 with ease, but this is the only solution I have to offer for now.
We are working on an adapter for the Numark Scratch and Reloop Elite. Both require the fader to sit directly under the faceplate to get the stem through enough. Give us a month. Email me Patrick@audioinnovate.com and let get you on the list for that bracket!
I compared these faders and it looks like you actually downgraded by doing that. The mini is on par with the pro 3, however, it doesn't have an LED among other things
Marius Groth very average mixer, but amazing for the price. It’s faders are decent enough and the eq is better than expected! I think it’ll work in a pinch, but there are cheaper and better alternatives if you’re not using Serato, as this is designed for it.
Just got mine today, so far its really nice and easy to use. Not too many extra bells and whistles that i'll never use. My only complaint is the mic pre amps. I have to turn the volume up full blast to get any sound from my mic. Is anyone else having this problem with VERY low mic volume.?
Does it work well with a regular vinyl? I've heard that these kinds of tables can have issues with the level, I have line level turntables so it shouldn't be a problem I think
@@RonaldRaiden Yeah it works fine with regular vinyl. The effect won't work with the vinyl but the filter knob will. Overall I'm happy with my purchase, nice Lil Mixer. Peace!
Anyone else having issues with Serato not giving DECK SETUP options with their Scratch? And DVS also not automatically activating? Not finding answers for this issue anywhere. Please help!
FIXED: When running mac OS Catalina, make sure your security & privacy settings allow Serato to have access to your microphone, and any other feature it might need for that matter. Simple solution that can drive you crazy... However, it still doesn't give me the DECK SETUP option, but it does recognize and allow me to calibrate my turntable decks like normal when in the Audio tab.
You just need this mixer, because it already has a Serato DJ Soundcard built in. You get the full version of Serato DJ Pro with the mixer. You would need to buy a set of Serato control vinyl because they are not included with the mixer. Then you can use it with your turntables. I have this mixer and a set of Technics 1200MK2s.
After owning this mixer since release there are some gripes I have with it. I read that line faders are soldered to the mainboard of the mixer which means that they can' t be replaced once they break. The effects in Serato can' t be edited and then saved as a personal preset chain. Everytime you close and reopen Serato DJ the changes are overwritten by the Numark Scratch because of it' s fixed layout on the mixer itself. I wish that Numark would have used a mticolour led for the pads since they only light up in red. I use colour coding for my cue points and I' d wish that the mixer would reflect that.
Mainly depends on the DJ Software you want to use I guess. Hardwarewise: Z2 has Innofaders on all faders as far as I know. The Numark Scratch has only the Crossfader as an Innofader. I own the Numark Scratch and to me it is a no frills mixer. I mean a couple of years ago you just got a Rane SL Serato Box for the price of this Mixer! For under 500 bucks you get a 2 channel analog mixer with 3band EQ, analog filters, an Innofader Crossfader plus a soundcard and everything ready for Plug and Play with Serato DJ via DVS! It' s a steal, imho. As far as Traktor Pro. NI has recently been sold to an investor and Traktor hasn' t seen that much development in the last couple of years. NI hasn' t released a new Traktor Mixer since the Z2, all they came out with was new Controllers. The Z2 was released back in 2012, so I guess that says it all.
I think its only Serato for most of the things. Apart from reverb, echo, simple loops. The 6 middle buttons are built into the mixer, the pads are for Serato. The clever stuff will be in Serato, although im no expert
Do you need a computer system to work this mixer or do all the settings on thos mixer work just with the decks without the computer system if that makes sence lol
You can use it as an analog mixer. The EQs and the filter are analog but you cann' t use the rest of the features in this mixer (effects, cue points and so on) since they are all included in Serato DJ Pro, the software this mixer was designed for. You then need a computer to access those features. FX only work when playing digital but not on regular vinyl.
@@MakingMadBeats cool thank you for the help much appreciated 🙏 😊 . Looks like a fantastic tool and something different to use I may invest in this soon as effects and sounds it can bring is amazing. Thanks again
Over the years I've purchased many Numark products - for the price it's a decent product. However, I'm usually disappointed with the sound quality including the bleeding of sound.
I don't have another mixer to compare it to, but it sounds pretty good to me. My setup, this mixer + Reloop RP8000Mk2 with a Ortofon Concorde Scratch cart and Fluid Audio FX50 studio monitors. I have only 5 actual vinyl records, but they all sound nice. Considering it's a $500 unit I'm very impressed. Also sounds crystal clear and can get ear-shattering loud with my Pioneer HDJ-X10 headphones.
I'm thinking of picking up this Numark Scratch or the Mixars Duo to replace my Traktor Z2, because the DVS system in my damn mixer only works when it wants to since I got it a couple of years ago, so I hardly use it but also because I prefer the Serato software that's on my Pioneer DDJ-SR controller, so I need a cool Serato mixer like the Numark or Mixars! I really wish I had that Pioneer DDJ-MS9, Rane 72 or Reloop Elite but the DJ thing is just a hobby and not my profession so I'm not trying to spend almost 2Gs on a DJ mixer but I'm willing to spend $500-$1000 on my cool hobby! :)
My mixars doesn’t work with Serato anymore after a year. Getting distorted sound. Only works with vinyl now. Plus mixars shut down so can’t do anything to get a new one. Stick with pioneer , Rane or this one for budget!
My $1200 Pioneer controller doesn’t come with DVS licenses. Since I don’t use vinyl, it isn’t a big deal but if a sub $500 mixer comes with DVS activation, why can’t mine? Lol As for the mixer, I love that it has an IEC power in vs a external power brick. The XLR outs are quite nice and a combo XLR/TRS mic in is pretty sweet.
@@Crossfader I brought and I'm so dissapointed wish i hadn't that's pathetic not allowing that not a good move on Numarks half would of been perfect otherwise
@@gregc7699 The effects are built into Serato rather than the mixer. The controls are just MIDI buttons that tell Serato what to do. At this price point you'd struggle to find any mixer with built in effects as complex as this. The only effects in the hardware are the filters. It's a shame but at this price it's to be expected!
