Just personal preference! The UAD stuff is trying to emulate analog gear so I think of those plugins as “vibe” or “color” while the stock plugins are more utility.. Fat Channel from Presonus has emulations of LA2A, 1176, etc but I prefer the UAD plugins over that. FabFilter is also utility and I use it often because the visual feedback you get with their compressor and eq Over the 9 videos of us making this song you’ll see me using Presonus eq, room reverb, etc.. but toward the mixing stage of things I’m looking to add some excitement so I’ll go for 3rd party plugins
