I would say headphones would make the most sense for the Haas effect. With speakers, the audio from each speaker DOES reach the other ear, and it does so with a delay, so an additional delay, I would mostly result in somewhat less clarity, and risk of creating a notch or comb effect in the mono downmix. With headphones, you lose sound-stage because you don't have the effect of ear shape and head size. So to regain sound-stage, you have to do some forms of head modeling, and I would put the Haas effect in that category. I still use it now and again, but it's generally something you can't do everywhere without it causing some weird effects on other equipment.

pls what happens to the track when its played in mono do we get comb-filtering issues?
@rocioarce7842

if the delay time is messing with comb-filtering when summing to mono the tone will change.

I had a similar problem, used HAAS to put a kick "right", mono was full of phasing, then I decided a reverb of the whole thing and BAM, the mix was a catastrophe... Did not manage to resolve this problem yet by myself.

@@z1reticuli Don´t use it on kick? The slower the waveforms the easier our ears will figure out that the phase is out. It´s a no no on the bass as well. Maybe try to take this course again? He clearly says it is great on pads a lot, this makes sense.

Hi Ken, this is a very interesting and well explained upload, thank you. I've been using the Venn Quick Haas plugin but the presets don't relate to any of the -100 CENTER +100 increments in my DAW's pan range. So using your suggestions here might be the answer and will let you know! Possibly maths could be used to resolve the m/sec values using the RT formula. What are your thoughts on using maths to resolve compressor values such as Threshold, Ratio Knee, Gain, Attack & Release derived from the BPM value?

No its offsetting a copy of the original signal by 10.0ms on the rh side. BUT imagine a waveform and the same waveform overlayed offset by 10.0ms. Now imagine the problems that will cause with cancellation when summed back to mono. This is the definition of the sound being "out of phase". Different amounts of offset literally cause a "phaser" effect. This is a cumbersome way to enhance the stereo signal and leads to all sort of potential issues down the road, especially if pressing music to vinyl records.

not audible enough. Everyone is using the most silly sounds or terrible beats to demonstrate this haas effect . insane.
