That’s it I’m buying the 223. I’ve been playing the JPX 900 for the past four years. They’ve taken me from a 20 handicap Down to a five. Now that I just want to get more of that feedback I think it’s going to be awesome. My ball sticking is probably the strongest part of my game. I feel this can help me get scratch !
This is the review I’ve been waiting for! Great review! I got fitted for the 923’s. I tried the 223’s and they felt great but the fitter recommended the 923’s because of the touch more forgiveness. He said “on a good day, I’m gonna love the 223’s but on a bad day I’m gonna want to quit golf.” 3-4 weeks out but I’m in Canada so I’ll have to wait until April to try them on a course!
My experience with the 223's is similar to what Jay found, and I agree with his general rule that if you're missing way off the face you need more practice and potentially lessons. I've played G Series Pings and don't find the 223's harder to hit for me. Sometimes I have a bad day and it doesn't matter what club I'm using. (I'm a 9 handicap) The 223's feel so good to me I'm fine giving up 5 yards or so of "free distance".

Great content as alwsys Jay. Ive always been a Mp guy . Just moved on from Mp 30s and bagged the Mp 225s and couldnt be happier. You are truly one of the best on RU-vid and i value every review that you put out. Keep them coming !

Love the reviews/comparisons. Especially quantifying the forgiveness of the clubs. Would love to see it on the Cobra lineup. Particularly the King TEC hybrid, Forged TEC irons and the King line of irons.

Yes especially as they a more sensibly lofted than some irons for the junior with increasing head speed. Mizuno offer a huge range of shafts that will ensure the junior gets the right shaft option at the right time 👍🏻
Hi Jay, really enjoy your reviews. Looking forward to whenever you're able to test the new 24x range, particularly the 243s... any idea when this might be? I'm currently gaming the 919 Tours but feel I could use a bit more forgiveness in my next set, in the longer irons at the very least with my miss being predominantly toe-side. The 223s or upcoming 243s may be the winner but coming from the JPX side of things I could easily see myself going 923 Tours combo'd with the Forged or perhaps even the 243s. Preference would be a straight set without messing with the lofts and thereby the bounces, in which case the 243s apparently going 2 degrees weaker (34 deg. 7 iron) might just be spot on. Will have to get fitted in the new year when they're released I suppose!
I have the JPX 900 which I know you love ;). I am drawn to the look and feel of the hollow body irons, but as a lefty, I can’t try the Pro 225’s. I’m intrigued by your statement that the 223’s are equal if not better in forgiveness on the extreme misses. Very surprising. I too would love to see how the Cobra Forged Tec and Tec X compare to the 223 and JPX923’s.
@@AskGolfNut well where i am right now is about +4 celsius BUT we are expected to get 20-30 cm of snow this week and temperatures of -30 Celsius ....no golf for awhile...dang it
I tried both 923f and 223 .....I'm slower than you carrying 7i about 153 with each .....923 was lower launch and spin and also lower decent angle....so for me the 223 was purchased getting same yardage carry with higher apex and really good feel
Love your comparison videos can you do a video of what you think are some of the most forgive player cavity and blade iron against the new cobra line thanks I think that will be a great vid cheers
I fitted into 921 forged and moved out of them after becoming a better ball striker. The pulls were too punishing, especially at 95mph club head speed. I’d lean towards 223 for better strikers. Great review.
Thanks very much for your kind feedback, with a 95 mph head speed, there's definitely not the need for added distance irons, you use them and you'll be hitting 7 iron off the tee over 200 yards 😊
Thanks a lot Jay, this is the one review I was looking for. Results are a bit of a surprise, I think I had ruled out the 923 forged a bit too fast. How much of an improvement are the 923 Forged over the 919 Forged? I know they're 2 degrees stronger but other than that?
The 921 was an evolutionary step over the 919 and the 923 over the 921. Its not quite as much of a step up as the Hot Metals but first and foremost I'd say go test them out. Go for a fitting and see what shaft you are in now and what specification of head. Look at the data sets and see where the gains are to be had 👍👍

Okay, if i had the chance to get a 14 club Mizuno full set, i would takes a set of of 221 from 4 to wedge, a fli hi 3 iron, a clk 2 hybrid or a 5 wood, a stz 3 wood andere driver, a 51 St 22 gap wedge, a 58 Lob wedge St 22 and a grindworks or evnroll blade putter.... But if the 221 is not elective then i have the decision between 223 and 923 tour (!!) and this would be close to decide for me.. I think i would take the 923 tour because they suit my eyes more. But i prefer the 223 before the 923 forged.... But I never will get the chance to choice a Mizuno full set.....
Now I wondering if I could get away with a full set of Mizuno Pro 243s when they are released. Obviously there will be a change (marginal improvement) in looks/ feel / performance from the MIZONO PRO 223s. I guess I’ll have to get fit nice they are released. I’ll have to give you a call and set that up early 224 before the start of the 2024 season.
Hi, love the vids. Can you test maybe an old iron like jpx 825 pro (yes my gamer) against the mp 223 to see how they compare in all departments including feel and your expertise forgiveness. As thinking 223's could be for me. For info I swing 88 to 92mph with a 7 iron. If can't do your opinion on differences would be very much appreciated...

Great review. I really wanted to get a set of Mizuno's this year but I just kind of slotted in between these 2. 223s didn't give me the distance and honestly just wasn't a fan of the look or feel of the forged. I ended up getting some Homna 757vx's and WOW. They give me the best of both. Distance and forgiveness of the forged, feel might even be better than the 223s and better looking than both IMO. I would love to see you do aJapanese head to head with the Honmas, Mizuno's and the new srixons.
@AskGolfNut I'm using 923 hmp but jumpy numbers is an issue and lower spin, would forged be much different or 223? Like the standard distance of hmp but not the jumpers 🤦♂️ thanks
As seniority hits us all at one point, I'd always be thinking about taking the one that will encourage launch as much as possible. Being totally honest if it's that, then I'd probably go the HM Pro. Springy face and lower further back CG 👍
Modus 115 has a softer tip than 120, so should launch higher. Handicap is irrelevant, recommend you get fitted, the Mizuno DNA swing analysis is spot on. I did my own research and liked the Modus 120 and that was 1 of the 2 top recommendations from my fitting.
