Really pleased you got one of these are they're creating big waves in the budget RC arena. Fast (40mph on 3S), extremely durable, metal drivetrain, proper, oil shocks, separate components, adjustable turnbuckles, optional GPS/telemetry features, optional upgraded radio, officially 2S and 3S compatible rather than "hope and pray", comes with unique hardcase Lipos but can run "normal" ones, reinforced honeycomb chassis, comes in three body styles of which you are reviewing the buggy but the Truggy and MT come with LEDs. The list goes on. You mentioned it might go well on a carpet track but we'd love to see you double backflip it at your usual outdoor bmx location.
For anyone watching this that gets one, setting that front toe back to zero or slight toe in will really help with that torque steer and ability to keep it straight when applying the power. Switching to a dumboRC radio/receiver will really help too with better feel and control.
I have a couple of the version 1 trucks. Both were brushed, but are plenty fast to still have fun. I've since converted one to brushless and like your buggy, it's a handful :) I did go through and pack the differentials with thick grease but that only helped slightly. Thank you for the video!
My biggest criticism of these trucks is always parts availability and customer service. That being said, pretty impressed! Short wheelbase so, a bit squirrelly on 3s. I imagine a reduction in toe and new servo arm should make a big difference (and some fluid in the diffs, if able). Thanks for the review 👍
@@superchargerone i have all of these models the buggy and trucks, very solid RC’s for the price, i haven’t broken any of them, very durable, Razor the frt and rear bumpers are a type of metal. Great video , cool your trying the cheaper RCs 😉👍🏽💯btw- my indoor carpet track in my basement the buggy is incredible 😉👍🏽
I saw very positive reviews of it and decided to buy one. All reviews I saw were from people who received it for free so I was worried about the actual product not being as good, but it actually is exactly as shown in the reviews. I bashed it already and it held up like a champ. The radio & esc are the only things that feel cheap in the truck, I will swap them eventually. But the car overall is fantastic. I would easily have paid twice the price for such quality. Only questions remaining for me are 1/ how the drivetrain will hold up in the long run (diffs for example) and 2/ spare parts availability. We'll see!
@@RayRiv73 unfortunately I don't own both so I can't answer you. They appear to share parts, and it seems to have great reviews as well. Maybe it comes down to which one looks the most beautiful to you at this point
Jumping back into the RC hobby after 35 years it's refreshing to see decent offerings from HBX and MJX. Not bad for the money but I consider them disposable. I do love my Losi and Arrma stuff more because the parts support/availability here in the US. The only Chinese RC company I take seriously is LC Racing and a few that are Taiwan-based ie. Team Magic.
I love my arrma Senton, however when it comes to parts availibility I think they have gone downhill... I ordered parts (in early may)to convert mine to a center diff ala the Mojave 4s and they shipped the bearings and motor plate and told me it would be september or later for the diff and housing kit! I canceled those and bought the diff off amazon and the housing from another rc shop.
MJXRC, now that's a brand name I haven't seen for a while... I still have my childhood Ferrari Enzo from them, which is complete toy grade. Though I have been thinking about possibly upgrading it a bit :)
Those are proprietary lipo batteries used in drones usually. I don't know why some companies are choosing to use these as you can't upgrade. I suspect it's to do with the low cost they can get them for. U can upgrade but you have to make your own battery strap or maybe some foam blocks to assist with the stock batt bar hold down keeping the batt tight in there
My version of the buggy did not come with the weird battery... my truck 16208 came with it but I can just fit in a std battery by adding some velcro straps.
MJX is their own. Other companies just copy off of them or what you want to call rebranded. Other companies figured out that the chassis on these are very very durable and the car is very durable so they use the MJX platform and use their own body. There's three or four different companies that I know of so far that uses this MJX platform. If you ask me MJX is the best 16th scale and 14th scale RC cars you can buy in that price range. Very affordable and very durable and fast.😊 Not sure how else to explain how good they are. Just buy one for yourself and you'll see and you will not be disappointed. You'll be smiling ear to ear.😊
Did you get a MJX 16208 or 16209 also?, all these RC's are heavy, but the trucks are INSANE, even on 2S! I want to see what my 16208 is going to be like on the 3S battery from the 16207 buggy! LOL!
How does it compare to the King of 1/16 bashers HBX 16889APRO? I ordered the MJX 16208 truck and should be ariving any day now....what I like about the MJX over the HBX is the bigger battery compartment and the seperate esc and reciever. I hope its just as durable as the HBX.
6 months later what do you think Ray? I just got a hosim hyper go and so far I'm really impressed with it and liking it. So much so I just ordered the brushless one yesterday
Just got this, excited to try it out, for some reason i cant figure out exactly how to screw the wheelie wheel on, the middle screw fits but once thats in the other 2 bottom screws dont, i feel so stupid, did u attach yours?
Seems pretty cool- I’m just wondering about if standard battery packs will fit or will it only fit those hard case packs that are included. It looks like regular packs can fit.
You just need to learn how to drive it I have one and thought the same thing now I can drive it like a champ. Just got to get used to it just like everything else. And it's never too much power in my book.😮
Just got one for Christmas! did you have issues with reversing? I know it has a brake system but even after i brake it takes a couple of tries to reverse the car. Not sure if its a transmitter issue or an esc issue
The mt mjxrc would be a good competitor for the near indestructible hbx 16889a pro but as you say, the mjx models are slightly more premium. Hbx conversely has much better parts support, at the moment cos they license their platform to lots of brands. Wonder if any mjx parts fit the hbx and vice versa.
I have a few rc's but want the best budget 12-16th scale 4wd basher that is reliable/durable first and then available parts if it breaks as I understand everything mechanical can break. So fire away your suggestions for fun 2-3s 12-16th scale 4wd bashers that does at least 30mph and is on a budget. You never know what you are missing out on that someone else knows about.
Great video great content unfortunately I just think $200 on Amazon is WAY TOO MUCH... plus 50 bucks for the controller .RIP OFF DUE TO PRICE . In my opinion
Another WL Toys or Rlaarlo kind of product. At least, they seem to have developped their own platform. However, LC Racing, Losi or Associated provide good mini buggy, which are well known for being good and easy to find parts. Yes, they are more expensive, but on those cheaper models, most of them have poor radio system, which will make an extra bill to pay to ahve something working correctly and offering a good experience. Better to buy an Asso Reflex 14 or LC Racing model.
My losi mini 8ight looks like an overpriced piece of garbage compared to my hyper go to be completely honest. The thing is not built for speed nor for bashing, yet it's heavy af so not for competition either, big meh. Only pro was the gyro but it just died in my hands and the receiver replacement is 60€ lol wtf
@@euqat a Mini 8ight got first on the market in 2012.. this was a good and fun mini biggy on track. Spektrum provides different receiver, no need to buy the one with the gyro ;)
The hyper go brushless is fantastic for the price. They worked with their customers and popular RC creators to develop it. You can’t find better for the money, IMO.
For $200? Maybe if you already have your $150 charger and $100 battery. You won't be going brushless for that price either . Personally ive never appreciated traxxas build quality. The service and parts would be nice . But these days there is you tube
@@mariopuzo4509 if you think that this car is better quality than mini erevo, good for you, go ahead and buy it. I had Chinese rc and never again. Breaking almost every run and then waiting months for parts. I paid 50$ for my used erevo, 8$ for 2s hobbyking battery and I already have a charger. I would always buy used brand name rc than cheap tiny Chinese rc. September last year I bought 1/8 scale erevo 2.0 with batteries and 100$ brushless servo for 200$ used
@@valuerc2664 These things are as tough or tougher than the HBX 16899 Pro and I've had a lot of Traxxas and my buddy has a Mini E revo and these are tougher 100%
Wltoye 124017 is way better and no special ( cant spell the word for there battery propriatory??) special battery needed. The wltoys 124019 is better too even with the cogging issue. Now that buggy may be cheaper i dont know.
