I would say he's more like Angel Eyes from the For a few Dollars trilogy. Someone who's just wanting to get the job done and who gets a bit of a kick out of doing it, but he's also respectable to "most" of his target's

God, all the voices in this game are so atrocious. I can't even enjoy it, tbh. I know it's not a big part of the gameplay outside of story mode, but, like, where's the character in any of these voices? They're all just so bland and emotionless. Cassie lost so much of her snarkiness, Jax lost all traces of his accent, and Erron Black, my favorite character, side note, just lost so much of his smoothness and badass attitude. He plays off like a gimmick now, like a cowboy parody rather than the established mercenary he was. Voice Acting really is the core of any game, and they just absolutely tossed out the best ones in this one. Ya know, not to mention the dead fish voice acting done by Rhonda Rousey.
I agree that MKX had the perfect voice cast. Cassie, Kitana, Mileena, and especially Sonya all we’re absolutely perfect voice acting in that game and it’s a huge step down in this one.
I agree they lack the character given by their MKX counterpart, it's not all bad. Scorpion, Kitana, Liu Kang, and Kabal are well enough considering the VA switching they gone through. Bringing out different tones out of em, which aren't too bad in some points. Such as Kitana's kind hearted nature, or Liu Kang's Eastern heritage. If I got the regions right. Others like Raiden are obviously well done, but Baraka and Fujin sound well as they had to edit it a bit and their voices could easily come off as bad as Noob's. As much as I love just hearing interactions in general, I can't help but feel the writing is one of the main reasons why these interactions fall so flat. Now, MKX wasn't exactly Shakespeare, but you got proper dynamic between other characters based on motives, race, realm, perception, history/character background, etc. And they all felt natural. Here, it just seems like they want to throw in Easter eggs for shits and giggles, and to make the fan go "Oh hey!"
