For anybody that wants a MK18 SBR or any SBR: Buy an AR pistol and use an ATF eForm 1 (convert an existing firearm to a SBR). The same process as described, but the eForm 1 has a waiting period of around 30-40 days instead of 8-12+ months.
You mentioned that you were nervous waiting the eight months not knowing if you were going to get approved for your form 4 I kind of felt the same way on my first tax stamp. Just to let you and your viewers know that if you can pass a 4473 (the federal form you fill out when you buy a gun from an FFL) and you have the right to legally own a firearm then you have the legal right to own an NFA item there aren't any additional requirements that would make you get denied for a tax stamp versus a regular 4473
Garrett - I’m quite certain if you have no felonies or history of violence you will not get denied. Especially if you’ve made legit firearm purchases before
Garrett if you have passed a background check on a 4473 you will get your tax stamp. When the NFA Branch does a background check on you to approve a stamp they literally follow the same process as a 4473.
Stephen B Another option is to build it as a pistol with a pdw brace like the maxim defense brace or that new SB tactical one that is pretty much a stock and you don't need to worry about all that other unconstitutional bull crap. Seeing as you can shoulder a brace now anyway, SBR's are in essence legal without being legal. Just my two cents worth and you'll save a little money and best of all...no bullshit waiting period or "tax stamp."
You’ve got the perfect plan for it eotech and a light home defense thats exactly where it would shine for you I put an eotech on mine I bought the same weapon only difference was a knights armament rear sight as I already had them and put the DD front fixed on there and I put an EoTech xps-0 I think it’s the shirt one with the single dot red and a sure fire mini scout with a cloud defensive switch plate holder for lack of better terms and that works great for me and also a BCM 88° angled fore grip as they don’t allow you to put a vertical grip on a barrel that short but the 88° works great and as far as a muzzle break I’ve put them on a lot of 16” guns but I’ve felt it just wasn’t necessary on a gun that short the recoil is very manageable bc it’s a 5.56 and there isn’t much muzzle rise at all so you don’t really need a muzzle break or a comp to be honest but of course no one needs anything but of course you do need an eotech and light once you get those you’ll see what I mean it’s a must that light will just increase your chances of putting down a threat by a lot they’re eyes are adjusted to dark creeping thru a house and you just gave them an instant migraine with a 500 lumen blast to the face they can’t see anything but you can see them well most certainly well enough to quickly put 15 or more rnds on target man you bought the right one there ive bought a lot of AR’s and that one is still my favorite I have no doubt it will be yours too congratulations man have fun!
First I bought DDM4 M4A1. then I sold the upper and registered the lower for SBR. It took like a month. Then I bought MK18 upper. But the suppressor took like 8 months.
KyleSVT had to wait almost 2 months, there website was out of stock and i couldnt find a distributor with any. I got the black receiver w the fde rail and i gotta be honest its really dark, almost a burnt bronze. I love it though, hitting the range today
That flash hider is already suppressor ready, if you look at it on the Daniels Defense accessory section, it tells you what it’s compatible with. I a think a more accurate statement would be you want a better all around muzzle that is also suppressor ready.
@@jonathanmerva5362 wrong. You still need a pre-approved 5320.20 before taking it out of your home state. The only NFA item that is exempt is a suppressor.
For your first AR, you sure picked a good one. I went with an AR pistol instead of an SBR. I live near where 2 states border, and travel into the other state often. I didn't pay $200 to the alphabet police, and I don't have to file paperwork with my intent, then receive permission to take my AR into another state. I applaud you for doing it right, but I just can't see it. All because of the shape/configuration of the part that contacts your body. Either way, you have one quality AR-15. Have fun with it. Because they look like flaming dumpster trash. I know ultimately it doesn’t really matter but as a consumer, being happy with the way a product looks is very important. Especially with that price tag.
I always say, up to personal opinion. I love the way they look factory. But we all have different tastes! I'm trying to decide on the mk18 with the RIS II or RIS III currently. (again, mostly just aesthetics)@@JoelCaseyJonesMusic
Mini scout light pro with ds water proof with the st07 momentary on top with cloud defensive mount for switch and wire management is what it does and eotech exps3 is how I run mine but use fixed for absolute co witness at lower 1/3 of the optic
In Canada what is considered an SBR in the US is treated the same as any handgun, AR or other firearms here that are considered 'restricted', its just a few day wait for the transfer authorization to bring it home after purchase. Sadly though we're saddled with our magazines being pinned to 5 measly rounds for semi-auto centerfire rifles, 10 for pistols. I have a DDM4V7 in the same Milspec + color.
@@KyleSVT You're welcome. After seeing your video I'm going to order the same. Grab the Surefire pressure switch for the top rail when you get your lights. That seems to be the go to switch no matter which LASER/Lights you run up front. I'm going to run a Surefire SOCOM MINI2 up front as well because that SBR will be very loud and disorientating in the house in a self defense scenario. I'm also going to run a surefire three lug flash hider too. FYI! :D
Check out the Fortis Shift angled grip. It’s a hand stop/angled grip all in one. It’s more expensive than a Magpul afg, as it is aluminum. But I damn love it. Also, give us an update on this one!
I might have missed it or maybe I'm just stupid, but did you already have a Class 3 License or can you acquire these guns without a class 3 and just apply to get it. Still learning about guns so please take it easy on me.
I purchased the same DDMK18 MIL-SPEC+ On May 11 2019 they cashed my "check" debit card on June 21st 2019 I called them last week May 14th 2020 and the same answer is always "still pending" I haven't even been assigned an examiner yet I just don't understand it..it's been just over a year since I purchased the rifle and next month will be 1 year since they cashed my check I've upgraded it with all types of accessories everything except for a light because they told me it would be 6 to 8 months SBR take the shortest time suppressors take the longest I don't know what's going on someone is not doing their job I own other rifles including the DDM4A1 along with others I was willing to wait 6 to 8 months 9 months tops that's what I was told by several people but after a year and I still haven't even been assigned an examiner somewhat unacceptable I'm a law-abiding citizen

100% Get the Surefire Warcomp , I got some videos of both on my MK18 Warcomp and Warden . Warcomp Stays flat and no Flash at all , Warden it throws a 3 foot flame but also throws the blast forward which is great for indoors . Check out the video , ohh one thing swap in a Giessle S3G Super 3 Gun trigger in it ...man that made a huge difference

I can’t comment on the Surefire SOCOM Brake/Warden, but I have the 5.56 Ferfrans CRD on mine and it’s awesome. If you do get the Surefire Warden setup, make a Vid. I might put the 7.62 SOCOM Brake/Warden on my Sig 716 DMR.

i heard you say you had to stamp the M18? fill out a form? so its not easy to own one ? as going into your gun store and buying a AR15?..... the gun is 2,000 online is there a legal process for me to own a mk18? its semi auto right?
SubHero4eveR the barrel is shorter than 16 inches so it is classified as a short barrel rifle, which requires a tax stamp ($200) and wait about 8 months to get the letter back approving you to purchase the item.
Don’t kid yourself, buddy. . you go through the EXACT same procedure to procure an SBR tax stamp as everyone else does. Otherwise, none of us “have a problem” buying anything either. 🤷♂️

Stephen Pepper The ATF has no authority to do that. They enforce laws, like the NFA, they do not interpret them. They tried to stop people from shouldering braces, then some patriotic lawyer worked his speech craft to convince them how the NFA doesn’t prohibit us from shouldering braces. And the ATF decided to just sit down and shut up.
Hey man if you wanna be reeeeal tacticool. Troy industries makes nightsights for rifles. Standard m4 and hk style. Slap a peq15 on or dbal or ngal. A surefire scout. Unity or skalarworks mount to an eotech and magnifier combo. Add your own choice of vert grip and you'll have the SOCOM setup. Lol
So you can create a trust and anyone on the trust will have access to the nfa item. For individual it's just me who owns the rifle and I always have to be present if someone else wants to shoot it. It used to be if you did a trust you didnt have to get fingerprints but they changed it.
That’s because you bought the pistol version and NOT the SBR, anyone that can pass the background check can do exactly what you did. I did the same thing, and then E-filed for a tax stamp, my third stamp for an SBR, waited 32 days for the stamp and then changed out the pistol brace for the same stock, ( $75 ), that the MK18 SBR comes standard with. Very simple process with only a fraction of the wait time.
I prefer an adjustable piston on a SBR. I want to control the gas. Especially if the Gasport is too large to begin with. Contemplate your age and your eyes before you purchase your EOtech.
Jesus that’s an expensive first ar most people go with like an M&P15 or colt 6920 but no you dropped the $1800 plus $200 for tax stamp and waited a year. Power to you bro

Well I’ve decided to buy one because I’ve moved from New Jersey to North Carolina and I want to exercise my second amendment like all free Americans sad thing is hearing you describe waiting six months reminds me in New Jersey you have to wait a lot longer then that for a handgun 🇺🇸
why not just buy a pistol brace and avoid 200 charge and long wait , not to mention you are restricted on traveling across state lines. hoops and jumps too
Could you just buy the pistol version and buy a stock and just do the paperwork so you can put the stock on? That way you can have your pistol and just wait to put the stock on?
yes but then you need to get the lower engraved. For me it was just easier buying a factory built sbr but you could for sure buy a pistol and run a brace until your paperwork for the sbr gets approved.
Yes you can absolutely do that. And the laser engraving is no big deal, I’ve had two of them done, placed the engraving on the underside of the flared mag well, completely out of sight, but easily seen and meets ATF requirements.
@@KyleSVT, the “factory built” SBR is the EXACT SAME WEAPON as the Pistol version, one simply has a brace and the other a stock, easily switched out in less than 10 seconds. 🤷♂️
An i hear if you go with the pistol an have a concealed pistol licence you have this in your car an be LEGAL.because its a pistol an you can have loaded mags an still be LEGAL IN MICH.
